The storms of life are raging upon me right now. I'm going through a humbling because I was too proud. I didn't put God first and it cost me the love of my life. God bless you brothers and sisters....I love you.
⁶⁷ Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept Thy Word. *-Psalm 119:67* ⁷¹ It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn Thy statutes. *-Psalm 119:71* ⁷⁵ I know, O Lord, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me. *-Psalm 119:75* ¹³ And ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart. *-Jeremiah 29:13* ¹⁴ Because he hath set his love upon Me, *therefore will I deliver him:* I will set him on high, because he hath known *My Name. My Character, My Mercy and My Grace]* ¹⁵ He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. ¹⁶ With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him My Salvation. *-Psalm 91:14-16*
My dad used to wake us up on Sunday morning before church to Tennessee Ernie's albums. This song came to mind while I was working. Glad to find it here. Thanks for posting.
The Lord has stood by me in the midst of my trials and tribulations. In the midst of a collapsed basement wall that insurance did not cover and a rare disease that has left me in severe pain, on disability and taking chemo for over 6 years the good Lord has stood by me. The Lord has certainly been good to me. I first heard this song "Stand By Me" at the end of a little house on the prairie episode where many had died from an epidemic while they were waiting for the medicine and the medicine was delayed because someone stole the wagon the supplies were on. Eventually Pa caught up with the wagon. The ones who stole the wagon were sick and Pa convinced them to come with him so that all who needed the medicine could get it. But the delay was devestating and left many with dead loved ones. This song was sang when many needed encouragement to go on. It was sang by the negro woman who ran the blind school in town. If anyone knows where I could get this song sang by her let me know.
That woman was singer/actress Ketty Lester and here is the RUclips link. It's not the best audio but I'm sure you'll recognize her rendition. m.ruclips.net/video/4Xh8D_UKqB4/видео.html
Amen. I grew up listening to him on Capitol LP's from my Mother's monaural record player. Can you imagine a variety show today on TV where the host sings a lovely, heartfelt hymn as the finale? America is the worst for what "entertainment" has become.
I love this song. Tennessee Earnie Ford is one of my favorite singers. :)

I am growing old & feeble .. and He is standing by me
If ever there was a rich baritone, his was the one. What a beautiful hymn.
This Hymn has always made me cry. I adore Ernie Ford.
Tears every time I listen.
Agreed!
No instruments needed- just Mr. Ford and the lovely voices of the choir. This is God’s beauty made manifest. Thank you for your post.

What a blessing to humanity He was
Listening and singing here in our bathroom sheltering from a tornado
Thou who rulest wind and water, Thou who never lost a battle, Thou who knowth all about me, Oh the Lily of the Valley, stand by me!
Great song. I love his voice too.
