12:21 - arghh! OK really would live to chat on Voxer, I want to leave so many voice messages about this video alone! Also plan to read Oathbringer (re-read) and finally read Rhythm of War! 5th book due out in Autumn, but won't read as my first reads have to be paperbacks! 5 books for first half then a further 5 planned possibly around different characters or a big time jump. Also Hearstopper 5 is now out...so nearly finished that series...if or stops at 5! 😂💜📚
3:05 - 7 books, you have the first two there. I loved this particular series as a child! Now I want to see that old drama series of it 😆 that was clearly a thing! 💜📚 Castle and Circus were my faves - circus I imagine is highly problematic now! I mean they provably all are but particularly Circus 😬🙈😆
6:47 - not Granny Weathereax, but she does have an appearance at the end. The first book was the weakest. My fave is possibly Wintersmith the 3rd but Shepherdess Crown, whilst not his best, is a beautiful way to say goodbye to him. I do hope you enjoy Tiffany. I love her and the Feegles 💜📚
11:00 ooooh reas that with my Mad March Hare this year. I loved them as I love warm books with zany characters and silly whimsy with heart. Which this was. Would like e to hear your thoughts. Plus her artwork is amazing! 💜📚
Ooh what a gorgeous The Invention of Hugo Cabret! I’ve never heard of that but love the sound of this. Defo read The Good The Bad and The Furry! 💛🐈🐈⬛ Looking forward to the Past and Future Readathon so much! 🎉
I wasn’t even born when you received that Enid Blighton book 😂😂 Any physical book on your shelf makes that prompt easy! Yay for another year of the Readathon!! 🎉
I’m so with Charlie re that Hugo book it looks so gorgeous.. Sneaky peak I have the cat book for my general Tbr In January. Loved The great circle. I’m intrigued by the wizard of once series 😊 Thanks so much for co hosting again, I’m so excited 🎉🎉 💜💜
I can't bring myself to read the last Adrian Mole so I hear you with Terry Pratchet. I loved The Night Watch. I can also relate to being 8 in 1985 and choose your own adventure books being cool.
I think I will be very emotional when I do finally read the last Pratchett. I loved the first Adrian Mole book and really should read some of the others.
The Tiffany Aching story arc as it goes is phenomenal! I read them all in a December couple years ago and it was such an experience. Granny & Nanny are definitely prominent. Brian Selznick is so consistently stellar! Great pick, I think The Marvels is my favorite of his work. Really hoping to participate with this readathon, we will see how much room I've got.
I'm really looking forward to the Brian Selznick book and discovering a potential new favourite author. I am sure I will love the Tiffany Aching books, especially if Granny and Nanny feature a lot!
Definitely finish Discworld. If you have not tried the audiobooks for the Tiffany Aching sequence they are great. Granny Weatherwax IS in A Hat Full of Sky and the other Tiffany Aching books, along with Nanny Ogg. More importantly the Nac Mac Feegles are in it, easily my favorite Discworld species ever. :) Sarah Waters's The Night Watch is also excellent, probably my favorite of her novels.
Thank you. I’m looking forward to reading the Tiffany Aching books, even more now that I know how prominent Nanny and Granny are in them. I’ve read The Wee Free Men at least twice over the years and I definitely enjoyed the Nac MacFeegle. I’ve just been putting off finishing Discworld because I hate the thought that I won’t have any more new Discworld books to read after this!
This sounds like fun, thank you for announcing it! I was a huge Enid Blyton fan too and I must have read at least five Adventure books (goodreads says there are eight), almost every book of the Find-Outers series and every Dolly (Malory Towers) book I could get my eyes on (but last year I learned: Enid Blyton had only written the first six books herself - the german publisher let another lady write twelve more books and sold them under her name!) I hope to read some of Joan Aikens books next summer as her 100th birthday is coming up … And we loved The Little White Horse - so don't put it off too long!
I heard about this from a German friend of mine! I think they would have been completely devoured over here as I don't know a single girl of my age who didn't absolutely love them. I suppose a British publisher probably would be afraid of a backlash from Blyton purists! 😂
@@spreadbookjoy there are some new english Malory Towers books too, written by Pamela Cox (not the german books in translation, they follow a completely different story line)
This year I'm in. I usually avoid reading events in January to catch up with myself but this allows for that. And reading what I own too. I loved Goudge's Little White Horse as a child and read it aloud to Tilly and Alf when they were young. I think it is googe not gouge.
Oh good! I think the beauty of this one is in the flexibility because it’s so open to fitting in with our personal goals. So glad you’ll be joining us Ros! 🤍
The Hugo Cabret book looks gorgeous!! You have to (well you don’t HAVE to 😂)read The Night Watch, such a great book!! Oh you should listen to The wizards of once on audiobook as David Tennant narrates them and they are sooooo good!! It’s gonna be so so much fun ⏰⏱️⏲️⌚️⏳🕰️🕛
I love the idea of children’s books in January 😊 I don’t think my brain does be able to handle much more in January to be honest! I’m listening to 11.22.63 at the moment, am enjoying and it’s only my 2nd Stephen King, even if it is a bit of a slog 😅
It will be really interesting to hear your views on the ‘of adventure’ series. They are the first full novels I read when I was 7 or 8, I think there are five in the series. The constant rabbit is great too.
I did not know there were five of them! I was a Famous Five fan myself so I never got into her other mystery books, which is odd because I devoured almost anything she wrote at one point!
10:33 - Read Amari!!!!!!!!! 😂💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
8:44 😃 Hugo!!! 💜📚 Childhood Fave I should re-read, as is the whole Wolves of Willoughby Chase series!

So many of her books would be problematic now! I’m looking forward to reading this!
7:38 - that is on my list and shelf, but def not a Jan book fir me...yes I am scared of its chunkyness!😂💜📚
Tbh I have also been intimidated by the chunkiness! 🫣
I’m so pleased you said the first one was the weakest as I think that’s the reason I didn’t read on!

Definitely makes me more inclined to pick this up if you enjoyed it!
I loved the adventure series when I was kid.
I am looking forward to reading them!
Ooh what a gorgeous The Invention of Hugo Cabret! I’ve never heard of that but love the sound of this.
Defo read The Good The Bad and The Furry! 💛🐈🐈⬛
Looking forward to the Past and Future Readathon so much! 🎉
Yay - can't wait to start!
I wasn’t even born when you received that Enid Blighton book 😂😂

Yay for another year of the Readathon!! 🎉
That is funny about the Blyton book being older than you! 😂

Sounds like a fun readathon!
I love the flexibility of it!
what a lovely way to kick off the reading year! 💖
It really is a nice and flexible readathon so very gentle for the start of the year!
Very flexible readathon. 😊
It really is - such a fun one and a nice way to kick off the year!
Looking forward to taking part in this, it will be my first year . Oh, I remember Dillons 😊
Dillons! Glad someone else remembers! Glad you are joining us!

@@Thusnelda74 I actually have seen those - a real shame they weren’t around for my younger self!
Heartstopper 5 has just come out!
I picked it up! So can legitimately finish the series so far in January! 😂

Oh, I do have to read The Night Watch - I think I'll probably dive straight into it after I read Tipping the Velvet for FOMO!
13:05 😃😃😃😃💜📚 that is on my Winter reads list, it sounds amazing, have yet to read Lucy Strange but just feel I will live her books! 💜📚
⏰️ great plans, yes I will be joining the fun, alongside the bootcamp readathon 💜📚
I plan on taking part this year as a way to get thru books off my shelf. I should be able to make just about anything fit these prompts.
That is the beauty of the prompts! So flexible!

You chose a big King book, but a great one. Children's books in January are just so comforting!
