    I had a T-cat blow by me on the trail once as a teenager. Scared the shit out of me but left a huge impression of what a real man was!

      Same thing happened to me, was on a light snow frozen dirt road.. I was on 02" ZR 600, dude had a 99" T-Cat. We slapped the load handle at 60Mph, mine lifted the right ski for a second, that T-Cat took off and held both skis till about 100mph!!

    Stock Thundercat holding its own against a lighter sled with 10 more years of technology and aftermarket parts? Not to mention how absolutely perfect that machine is, I would more than happily take that Thundercat home with me over the M1000 any day, any time!

      I would say the track difference had a bunch to do with that be a fairer race against a CF1000 !! 153 VS 136

  • @scotta.weaver7299
    @scotta.weaver7299 11 месяцев назад +14

    The sound of a triple does something to your bones, that growl makes a person a tad bit nervous or something to really squeeze the throttle. They're the best sounding snowmobiles for sure.

  • @QuinnPayton
    @QuinnPayton 11 месяцев назад +48

    Almost a 100 lb difference, 9 year difference, and one being aftermarket vs a stock thundercat speaks volumes of the thundercat!

    • @FlintFreedomGotAnAk
      @FlintFreedomGotAnAk 11 месяцев назад +3

      Give me a modified thundercat then it will be a fair comparison. The pod filters sucking in hot air doesn't help either. Bottom line stock versus modified...

    • @m8pwa_
      @m8pwa_ 11 месяцев назад +4

      M1000 or Crossfire1000 stock getting crushed by M8 HO and Crossfire 8 HO. What do I want to say by that. Yes the M1000 and Crossfire1000 was under tuned. And If you aftermarket both the CFR1000 (the short beast, even called Crossfire R) and the Thundercat I believe that the CFR will win everything under 900 ft.

    • @mitchellkalina8191
      @mitchellkalina8191 11 месяцев назад +3

      @@FlintFreedomGotAnAk I'm not a fan of the pod filters either. Besides hot air you lose the air velocity and midrange power a tuned airbox delivers.

    • @gumballer133
      @gumballer133 11 месяцев назад +1

      @mitchellkalina8191 I was trying to see if the pods were used with the stock airbox? I've ran pods before and in my opinion it's why I blew up my one engine. I had it tuned to rip on the trails, then I took it out on the lake at about 5deg and I burnt the front of a piston off. It was just a tuning nightmare.

  • @camaro69green31
    @camaro69green31 11 месяцев назад +9

    Yes a longer race the T-Cat will smoke the M1000. A more fair comparison would be the Crossfire 1000 or the CFR 1000 vs the T-cat. Great video. The best videoed races on RUclips. Stats, drone video and finish line! Well done. I've ripped on both the T-cat and a 08 Crossfire 1000 and both are strong.

    Love both. I own a 2009 CFR 128” with all the bolt ons but single pipe (192+hp) and can tell you that its a similar race on ice. I have raced 2 Tcats with similar mods up to 2000ft and the CFR rules. The light weight and the massive torque off the hit makes pretty much everything look slow.
    Great video man! Appreciated!

    Love em both! But I'm taking that Thundercat if I could! First snowmobile I ever owned was a '71 panther with a 399 kawasaki engine. Still have it and the original owners manual! I've always loved Arctic Cat sleds and whenever we needed parts we headed to Central Snowmobile Salvage. In their showcase they had a 760 Hirth triple with triple carbs. It came out of Panther same year as mine. Every time I seen that thing I dreamed of buying it and putting it in the Ole Cat. Never happened. When the chance came along I bought my brother-in-laws then 2 year old '91 Polaris RXL injected 650 triple. At the time, it was almost top dog, not always, but close enough. Still have it. Love it! Will never get tired of hearing the rumble of a nasty-ass triple! Had quite a few sleds over the years, and really wish that I would have hung onto 😕 more of them as some of them are really rare now! But, we still have 6 sleds yet and as the kids are older now, we should be able to add to our collection!😊

    The reality is, the Thundercat isn't a short distance drag racer. Its a trail cruiser and a lake runner. Its heavy, its traction limited, that early long travel suspension really soaked up the horsepower and its geared comparatively higher than newer sled. Run these two out of 1,000-2,000ft of hard packed and you'll see that big triple pick up another gear and pedal away.

    I got a crazy thundercat story for yeh. Year 2000 I was walking home drunk age 16 and seen this unit shining at the front door of a house. I could help but notice it as I was a cottage goer for years already driving sleds. The guy literally just bought it off the showroom floor, had shrimp dinner and got wasted. When he got home he took it off his trailer and parked it at his door for the next day. He then went into a deep drunk sleep. I was walking home at 2:30 am when I seen it. He left the gate to his compound open and his trailer tilted like a true drunk. Young me could not miss the opportunity. I know, stupid me. 100lb soaking wet me, pulled it over 4 times and then took off down the street to not be seen for many days. I went home, got my sled licence, helmet, boots and gear and told my parents I was staying at a friend’s to go sledding. This snow machine rained supreme for years. I had it for 4 days before I got caught and put lots of time on it. Beautiful machine and I got to experience it like most may not get to. I drove it like I stole it because I did. Nothing can stop you on a machine like this if your experienced. They had to catch me sleeping 😂 I talked to the owner at court and he was a solid guy. He was just mad he didn’t get to take it on its maiden voyage. I did take great care of it even tho it was throttled wide open a lot. I already had years of sled experience by then.

    I only wanted to see what matters, top speed. Half mile or more drag so Thundercat can really get into it's legs. A 450ft drag is stupid sorry. It's like taking a fuel dragster and doing laps on a nascar track. Al triple's need room to get going then it's over. Please do proper test I hate it when people drag race in 1/4 mile or shorter with triples there not built for that.

    450ft is not enough room for a big triple. 😂😂😂😂try a mile see how it goes. The 1000 twin is a joke. 800 ho blows the doors off them
