- Scrap wood project for making a suet feeder. I didn’t have a scrap piece of 2x6 board so I glued together two scrap pieces of 1x6” cypress boards but any untreated boards would work. This project doesn’t require a lot of tools or woodworking experience. This is intended for entertainment. If you should happen to attempt to make this please be safe and use common sense.

Your hand strength, you claim, may be getting iffy but your heart, I declare, is entirely in the right place. I think I will make one exactly like yours. Thank You, Best Wishes for the New Year. Regards from Quebec.
Wow, you know how to make a guy’s day! Thanks. I have an update of this video coming out very soon, hopefully this week. I think you’ll find it interesting. Thanks for sharing and watching. Happy new year
As an amateur hobbyist myself that was great!!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for making this video
You’re welcome, thanks for watching this video
Good as always.
Thank you very much.
I miss woodworking so much! Unfortunately I am severely allergic to wood. Great job on the feeder!
Sorry to hear this. Thanks for sharing and watching.
Love ya moon walking drill🤗🤗
You’re right, I had to go back a see what you were talking about. It reminds me of a football game we had when I was young. You placed your players where you wanted them then plugged it in and it vibrated just like that moving the players at random. Thanks for watching
excellent work, will make this myself
Thank you, I really appreciate your feedback. Happy birding
What a great project, it's a win for everyone.
Thanks. It’s a quick easy project with lasting use for several years. The birds have been enjoying it, so you’re absolutely right, win win for everyone. Thanks for watching
Thank you for sharing this video!
You’re welcome, thanks for your feedback, much appreciated
So impressive! You're right, I'd rather watch you construct bird/ suet feeders than run out to a store to purchase one. 😉 I have had to modify my summer feeders using bungee cords so the bears don't take off with them in the bush.. this suet holder will be ideal for our Canadian winters! Great fall project 👌
I’m glad we don’t have a bear problem, the raccoons are bad enough. Thanks for watching, happy birding.
Where do live that you have bears?
Like the vid love the shirt and FOREVER SCOTLAND
Yes, Scotland Forever!
Nice job! That little guy stayed for quite a while. Mourning dove came by too
Thank you. Yes, he was enjoying his meal. We have a lot of doves that come and go all day. Thanks for watching.
that dove thought the suet feeder was coo
Nice
Thank you
Very nice! I will make one or two this week. Thanks from the PNW
Thank you. Your birds will thank you too.
@@LSatch I made it and it looks great. Have the squirrels knocked the roof ajar when jumping onto it?
@@billr4283 I haven’t seen them do it yet. They go for the easy stuff in the classic feeder. ruclips.net/video/xyP1WqpRjR8/видео.html
Doesn't have hand strength says the man hoisting a Anvil :) Nice project, I'm going to make one using your design, thanks for sharing!
I guess grip strength would be a better way to describe it. 😄😄. Good luck with the build, your birds are going to love it
hey man, thank you for the great project idea
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching and commenting. Good luck with your build.
Larry where did you purchase that mesh wire?
Our locale ACE hardware store sell this 1/2" hardware cloth by the foot so you don't have to buy an entire roll. Otherwise you have to buy a 10' roll or more at someplace like Lowes or Home Depot.
Very cool! Should be a big hit with the birds.
Thank you. It’s been up a day now and you’re right, they do like it. Thanks for watching
starlings, catbirds, house sparrows, grackles will overrun that feeder quickly. build a upside down feeder
@@alexhuevera939 already did, ruclips.net/video/wTTKTB9xUSU/видео.htmlsi=mQiywNwx5w1PkBS4
Now I don’t have to pay 35 dollars for one!
Fantastic!
If you are determined to use wood use cedar. Better yet use the synthetic wood. The mesh you use absolutely should not be galvanized. It’s toxic.
Thank you for expressing your opinion. My go to outdoor wood is cypress. I made this video with the homeowner, DIY person in mind that may not have access to cedar or cypress. BTW, that feeder has been up for 2 years and is doing well.
As for the galvanized wire, it’s not going to do any harm in this application. I recently did a follow up video addressing that very issue, ruclips.net/video/zhOlnLt4sJo/видео.html
If you read through the comments on that video, you will see why it’s not going to be a issue.
While I do appreciate your feedback I don’t like the tone of your voice, I assumed that since I was wrong on so many levels I could go to your channel and see how I should be building things and taking care of the declining bird populations. Bur you have no content.
You might like the feeder I published today better. ruclips.net/video/sdj0uzgOwjE/видео.html
Is zinc bad for birds? Galvanized metal which has been electroplated is safe, but galvanized wire (hot dipped) is not. According to "Avian Medicine: Principles and Application by Ritchie", Harrison and Harrison, birds can ingest zinc from cages and clips made of galvanized wire.
Although a bird requires a certain amount of zinc to remain healthy, too much zinc is very dangerous and can cause degeneration in the liver, kidney, and pancreas and even death.
Great point. I’m going to take a really close look at the wire to see if it has deteriorated very much. Thanks for pointing this out
