Awesome optimisation in pixel 4a for a 730G vs 855. Google tops software optimisation and in making use of every bit of resource efficiently and no one comes close to beat them in Android world.
Battery: The 4a lost 3% while the S10e lost 5% during this video. But the S10e is older so can't draw any conclusion here. Anyway, team Pixel here! Crazy to see that it can keep up with a Samsung's flagship.
I feel like there was some battery settings that was changed on the S10e. Notice how theres less animations (when you open apps) and also a limited amount of apps are allowed to run in background. That may have been what was going on. Anyways, great content. Subbed
Perfect video for me to decide for a phone for my daughter. I do have one suggestion, please change your smoke detector battery. I thought it was mine. Hahahaha
I felt like I should have gotten the S10e instead of the 4a, but after this video, I don't really regret getting the 4a. The 4a clearly had much better RAM management and that's what matters to me. That, as well as the fact that I like getting phones new instead of used.
S10e is still pretty good tho. I actually switched to Samsung after having repeated issues with pixel phones, like my old Pixel 3 XL which developed a Bluetooth connectivity issue, of which it was a hardware issue so it was unfixable. Samsung is all around great, and waaay better with phone battery optimization, but the one and only thing I miss is the camera. Googles camera OS is quite unbeatable!
@@tafifish I'd agree; the S10e is fantastic. It's been over a year since I made the original comment, and my 4a has regressed significantly. Battery life is absolutely horrendous (I lost 12% charge overnight while sleeping for six hours, battery saver was on). Android 12 has been glitchy and buggy. And even though the camera is unbeatable, it still lacks an ultrawide and the photos can take 10 seconds to actually process so you can't just take a picture and then view it immediately.
Bro I'm not going to nit pick on your videos but it seemed like you wanted the S10e to win a just a little 👌 This is cause, anytime the pixel does better, you tend to say "a little bit" but then then you sometimes said the S10e was " much faster" in a few other tests when it was just a little bit. please try to be as unbiased as possible in these tests....keep up the good work!!!💪
I did notice that when I went over the footage. It was probably because I really thought the s10e would win because of the SD855 chip but it was really disappointing. But if I was to choose a phone based on the animation speed and also overall speed I would definitely go for the 4a.
@@TeknoTalks yeah the speed difference is also due to the fact that phone processors slow down overtime , Samsung's oneui is a bit heavy compared to Google's nearly stock android, and the fact that Google's software optimization is just the best on Android (duh! they literally own android soo)plus the way they shorten their animations
Also the fact that Google's ram management is just as good as OnePlus's and I'm speaking from experience cause they both have the best ram management on Android phones (excluding gaming phones like the ROG tho)
Yeah thats very true, ever since I've used Google phones starting from the 3a they never had alot of ram but they were as good as a Samsung phone with 12 gb of ram
I can Understand the Pixel 4a took some time to get in the Home Screen.. As They are Using a Mid Range Chipset..Snapdragon 730.. And You even used Live Wallpaper.. But same was happening with the Galaxy S10e..can't Really digest that😹😹that too while Using Static wallpaper😹😹 My sis is Using Galaxy S10e (Exynos) from more than a Year..and never faced any such Issue while getting back onto Home Screen.. My SD855 Device Never lagged that much.. don't know how it will behave lately.. Pixel 4a is a Brilliant Device..the Software Optimization and Experience is Top Notch..
So if you have to choose one, aside from speed standpoint. What will you pick? Because as shown in your videos, there is only slight difference from speed between 4a and s10e.
Personally i would go for the S10e because it offers more, also the better chip in the S10e will last longer as well. It might not look like there is a big difference right now but as time passes the S10e will probably be better.
@@TeknoTalks Thanks for your reply. I consider buying pixel 4a but the chepeast one costs around $515 in my country due to tax and shipping cost. Used s10e with really good condition only costs $380. Probably gonna go for used s10e.
Taking nothing away from this video. But are these phones new, or used? That would make a difference in these side by side comparisons. Every phone will slow with use and age.
Depends on the video type. For these speed test videos I use relatively new phones and for the videos where I talk about them after a year or ones where I give my thoughts on them those would be used so I can give you my real world experience.
@@TeknoTalks I wasn't implying you had done anything wrong. But these phones were released a year and a half apart. Only real similarities are screen and battery size. Are they both running the same Android? But either way it's a good comparison, I'd still rather have the S10e. I'm still eyeing the S10/10+ over the S20 or even over the Pixel 5
No I totally understand what you were trying to say, it's ok 👌. I mainly did this test to see how far this new phone has come when comparing to a phone a year older.
@@TeknoTalks That's what I thought. Guess I'm still foggy from last night. We had a pre Halloween neighborhood party last night! Not sure how much will be allowed next week with ppl still worried about Covid.
Phone hardware does not get slower with age, but they can be bloated by users installing things they don't need. A reset to factory and it's good as new.
Take a shot every time he says "Threee Twooooo ONE!"

To sum up: Pixel 4a is the better deal. Cheaper, nearly same speed, better ram management, longer support and updates

Yeah that is true, the S10e has a battery health of 91% so that might have affected it.
the samsung is better tho, wait and see after one year the pixel will be trash. u cant vompare a 1yr old used phone to a bgand new. dumbass people
the us version of the s10e is slower than the eu version

@Quentin The 4a lost 4%, actually. 63% down to 59%. It ticked down between takes after the boot race.

Yeah I saw another comment pointing that out as well but I had checked it beforehand and nothing was messed around with. So not sure what it was?
I like how the gestures are more consistent on samsung. Google really need to work on there gestures...

Can you do a speed test between pixel 4a and pixel 3 or any snapdragon 845 with 4g of ram
I would really want to make a video between the 4a and 3a but unfortunately I don't have the 3a anymore.
Animations are off on the 10 e
why you running a live wallpaper on the Pixel and static on the S10e?
Oh sorry just noticed, since I was using then 4a as my daily driver during that test I probably forgot it on there.

The "animation" speed can be changed in the settings, so it's pointless talking over and over about how fast "the animation" is or isn't.
Most general users of a product don't know about the developer options and use the phone with the settings it came with.
@@TeknoTalks okay, i guess that's a fair point. I turn them all to "Off" and it makes the phone feel much faster.
s10e is a beast
imagine an s10e with a pixel level camera. and without a bixby button. imagine that.
What's the purpose of the 3 2 1 if you cut the part when apps are opening
4a winner
S10e is reloading because of your battery power setting. Apps are not allowed to run in the background. Change that setting and you wont see reloada
