WOW !... Little Martha is the song my my wife walked down the aisle to 17 years ago. This year we are spending our anniversary in Macon, GA... From Arizona.
While the band hung out in this cemetery, those that survived Duane said he wrote it about his girlfriend, Dixie. His nickname for her was Little Martha. They said the song was not written about girls grave site. People are most likely confusing this song with one actually named for a person buried in that cemetery, In Memory of Elizabeth Reed. Dickie Betts wrote that one. He wrote it about his gf and to disguise her name he named the song after a grave site headstone he saw at Rose Hill cemetery.
It's beautiful! No matter if dedicated to a dead or living person! Love it like Elizabeth Reed or Eleanor Rigby or Loretta Lenk, died 18 years old, didn't know her,saw only her now vanished gracestone but wilm never forget this name
brilliant version, brilliant video, extraordinary brilliant sound. after so many times of watching, this piece of music still leads me to tears. grateful greetings from hamburg, germany.
When Ike Zimmerman taught the great Robert Johnson how to play blues guitar, he would take him to a graveyard at Midnight. I know Johnson influenced the ABB, and would be willing to bet that's why they played in a graveyard at night as well.
It's been a thing in every single violin video ever :why can't these college trained musicians ever pluck a string IN TIME? They are always so out of time its like they thought "oh yeah, in this one I need to pluck, so let me lay my bow down and begin, oh wait I'm literally 3 seconds late to play a note?" It's so unprofessional I'd fire any one of them on the spot
Perhaps you're just hearing the natural roll that happens when you play any chord on orchestral strings? It's not a guitar, where you can pluck or strum all the strings nearly simultaneously because they're all strung along the same plane. The strings on a violin are arranged in an arc to make it easier to bow one string at a time, so you can't set multiple strings into motion at the same instant - you have to roll across the strings with either your fingers or the bow. The rolled chord technique on piano was originally meant to mimic this property of strings.
Thanks, Adam Ragusea, for pointing me here.
It touches me deeply that Duane and Dickie chose to write about these people, Elizabeth Reed ,and the lil angel Martha, God bless them all.
Adam arranged this? You continue to amaze me!
I'm sure Duane would be honored. Thank you for your tribute and this post.
Who came here from Adam Ragusea?

Beautiful! I gotta play this for my Mom, a retired first violinist (who's probably never heard of the Allman Brothers.) 😃
I saw the Allman Brothers Band several times at the music club the Warehouse in New Orleans in 1970 through 1971.

The "I add white wine to basically everything" guy arranged this and didn't even take the credit for it. What an amazing person he is.
i assume it was shot early in the morning or just before sunset. the light is just right and the backround seems very calm.
Truly fantastic and Duane would have loved it. Matter of fact, he was most likely smiling down upon them as they played.
Does anyone know if sheet music is available for this arrangement? Getting married in November and would love to have this played at the ceremony.
Wow. Good stuff.

Robert Mcduffie meets Duane Allman. What could be finer!
From Adam.
It's as if Duane Allman went back in time to the 17th century and hung out with JS Bach.
Wonderful 🍑🍄❤️🎶
Came for Allman Brothers, stayed for Adam Ragusea.

They sound great overall. Rant about something else.
