Indeed The long-defunct Polish version of Strictly did a Disney Week many years ago that was so beautiful and unforgettable that it's one of my favorite episodes of any version of Strictly even today.
DWTS has done Disney Night every spring since 2014 and did it this recent autumn. DWTS Disney Night is so much fun! My favorites would probably be Danica & Val's Beauty and the Beast quickstep, Meryl & Maks' The Jungle Book samba, Charlie & Sharna's Mary Poppins jazz, Rumer & Val's The Little Mermaid samba, Nyle & Peta's Tarzan samba, Normani & Val's Mulan paso doble, Simone & Sasha's Moana contemporary, Jordan & Lindsay's Moana foxtrot and Lindsey & Mark's Pinocchio foxtrot.
The costumes will mostly be pulled from hire I would think, rights for animation possibly wouldn't be a huge deal as this was all created for the American show and the ABC network is owned by Disney.
what're the audience cheering at the start because the lions and tigger and olaf etc were animated...were they told to cheer and pretend they can see something?? loool

I said on the Digital Spy forums when the pairing were announced I thought the would try and push a Little Mermaid theme on her and the Rev.... well I was almost right. Also, I'd have thought Katya would have made a perfect Belle, guessing they used Janette as her (lack of) height made it easier for some of the moves
Couldn't be bothered to choreograph something for 'The Little Mermaid'? No let's have her float around aimlessly... LAZY! Why was Katya Ariel? Otherwise it was a great routine, slightly worried they'll add more CGI to future routines a la Dancing With The Stars... we'll see. Hope Dianne comes back next year. According to the Reverend's partner they were trying to get Richard and Dianne to have a go at the judges during their critique... manipulation in full force again. Thought that went out with Len last year but seems not... grrr.
I really liked the inclusion of classic Disney characters, and the 'Disney Vault' concept for the intro was really interesting, but something about the execution felt a bit off. I understand that the combination of live-action and animation is not going to be especially convincing (especially when you consider that this was created in around 20 hours - definitely not enough time to make the next 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit') but I would have liked the characters to interact with the dancers a bit, as they just seem like decorations...
I agree, it definitely gave the illusion that she was swimming, and if she had danced normally on the floor, that wouln't have felt as realistic so they got that part down really well! :)

Ikr, they should've included the main theme song from Beauty And The Beast and thrown some of Let It Go from Frozen and How Far I'll Go from Moana in there as well. But other than that, it was simply amazing, loved the whole setup and the animation they took from the movies. I got chills during The Little Mermaid part!

people are commenting about how they should've made Dianne Ariel instead of sticking a wig on Katya. i 100% agree, but there's always the chance that they offered the part to Dianne, and she turned it down- possibly because of some kind of motion sickness up on those twirling wires? sure, she may have looked better than Katya, and i think she would've been better as Ariel too, but take the fact that maybe she didn't want to do it into consideration before complaining about it?
Yes, your 100% correct. Dianne is scared of heights and she gets motion sickness. People really need to think about whether they know the whole story before complaining!
I'm more sad that she wasn't Merida. I know Merida's 'strictly' Pixar but it's part of Disney and that little Scottish rogue beats all those simpering princesses any day.
Of course DWTS was better. The show is on a network that is owned by Disney. They go all out on everything for Disney Night including the animation. The animation on SCD doesn’t compared to what DWTS have. SCD should have done it without it.

it is the same camera trick animation they have used for Disney Weeks on Dancing with the Stars.
Brian Swann I didn't know that, but it's not remotely surprising that these effects originated with the version aired on Disney-owned channel ABC...
For interaction with the animation, you would ideally need new animation, instead of lifting it from the movies as they did. I agree with you however.

DWTS had some fantastic Disney opening numbers :) My favorite was season 18, the first Disney Night
