How To Repot & Propagate | Pilea Peperomioides

- I had no plans to repot this guy this soon, but I noticed his babies were getting out of hand and taking up a lot of energy so it was time to give him more space.
In this video I'm repotting the Pilea Peperomioides, moving him up from a 4 inch container pot to an 8 inch. I also decided to remove and propagate a few of his babies.
I did have my Go Pro set up so I can capture a close up of this repotting and propagating, but it wasn't on while filming, so I'm sorry you guys couldn't get a closer look. But hopefully you still find this video helpful.

That is the most beautifully structured Pilea I have ever seen, and I've seen thousands!
I’m having trouble getting them into a good shape, any tips??
@@solamsdale9568 they are usually sold as babies because those are easier to ship and mass produce. However, you can grow a misshapen baby into a beautifully symmetrical adult. I would suggest turning you baby regularly to promote even growth. If any leaves are damaged or missing, they will most likely fall off, but new ones will grow. The bigger your pilea gets, the easier it will be to maintain symmetry. I hope that helps!
prickly pear thanks mate! I’ll try your tips

Mine grows to the side. Well, three going over the sides. That’s why I’m here😀
1st time l’ve heard a plant being referred to as “him” & “guy” which is cool, l guess. Until till he removed Pilea’s BABIES! It’s a beautiful specimen, like the perfect Christmas tree!
This plant is one of the easiest to care for. Mine is already growing new leaves from the center. I absolutely love it, you guys have to try it. I got mine at my local Trader Joe's store for $6.95 for a plant, it was only about 3.5 inches tall when I got it couple of weeks ago and it is growing fast. Don't forget to rotate it so it can grow evenly as he explains in the video.
I have the same one and shes doing great! Have you repotted yours and if you did what kind of soil and pot did you use?
An updated video on how he's doing plus the babies. Pleaseeeeeeee!!!!
I can’t believe how quickly these things grow. Repotted a propagated cutting recently and the plant has absolutely exploded overnight
Absolutely GORGEOUS!! I just got this plant and I absolutely LOVE it!! I have to repot it because the roots are literally hanging out from under the pot!! I hope it grows as GORGEOUS as yours!!💖💖💖🥰
It’s such a beautiful plant .
I just popped some babies off mine and am praying they all make
It ! Thanks
For
The inspo
I just purchased my first one!!! I can’t wait to see it growing
Wow! That’s the most beautiful Pilea Peperomia plant 🌱 ever.
🦅🦅🇺🇸
Wow that’s an awesome plant and thanks for this type of video. Love all your videos especially the propagation ones. Thanks Christian.
This plant is full of personality. It just looks fun!
thanx plant guy, i looked at several videos about propagation and NO ONE, I mean NO ONE explained NADA!! just showing or repeating them selves??! thank you!
I agree I haven’t seen as beautiful as yours on my collection or at the store.
You are great, crazyguy! Your plants are wonderful and your videos too! Keep going!!😄
Thank you for this video! I totally did this wrong, I just cut off one branch and put it in water and nothing happened, now I understand I have to propagate the entire baby
Thank you I'll be starting today repotting and propagating my baby I've had my Pilea for two weeks now I absolutely love it !
Such a great plant to have, very easy to care and propagate as well.
I just got my Pilea Peperomioides about 8-10 days ago and really appreciate this video! My plant also has lots of babies; especially, considering that it's a small, young plant. Hopefully, it can wait until Spring to be repotted into a bigger, nicer pot. Thanks for sharing! Have a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year. 🎅🎄❤
Margie McPeak Congrats on your Pilea, and yeah he can definitely wait until spring. Have a great new year as well.
Thanks! I was vaguely aware this plant could propagate but didn't know how to go about doing it. Mine has a couple of babies. I got one a couple of months ago and it is so happy and thriving with constant new growth, I think it's already outgrown the pot I put it in! So I will repot and propagate the little ones just like your vid. Thanks again!
Awesome. Yeah they give out a lot of babies and I find them to be super fast growers too. Great gifts to give to friends and families.
Your Pilea should win the Oscar for best performance! It's beautiful. Happy planting.
😎😎😎😎😎😎
The mother plant is such a beauty! ☺️🥰
My plant needs repotting and this info will be a great help. Thank you I will be starting some babies in water also. Previously I just gave them a small pot and they did well that way also
WOW...amazing plant.I just got one today. Thanks for posting.
Advice at 9:20 was very insightful. After repotting, the bottom leaves did limp and fall off but the rest of the plant recovered and thrived.
Thank you. Glad you found it helpful. Pilea are very sensitive to repotting, but they will bounce back.
Thank you, that was a great video. I just found your channel and I have learned so much about my plants that I never knew. I just received a Pilea Peperomioides and it looks good but the soil is packed down and I think I will put new soil in. Thank you again.
Your Pilea is sooo pretty 😍 such a GOAL!!!
What a stunning Pilea!
O - M - G THIS PILEA. It is SO ROUND. Wow - truely stunning ♥
I resisted getting one of these because if you're familiar with gardening in FL, they look like dollar weeds! LOL But I saw a big one at the store the other day and I bought it. They are actually very cute and different. Finally subscribed to your channel after watching so many of your videos, you really love your plants!!!
Got my first pilea today. I’ve been searching for one for awhile now. I’m so excited! I don’t think a diamond could have made me happier. 😀 Thank you for the vid. I’ll find you on IG. 🌱
Here in Germany they sell em for like 3 dollars
@@kaduko2054 where? In Frankfurt you cant find it!
This is a great video! I used it to propagate for the first time and it's off to a great start!
That is one beautiful plant great job
Beautiful. It looks so delicate. So pretty. How much light and do you feed it. Another great video
Video was very helpful. Thank you.
Love you ,love your plants ...all are so healthy and beautiful..,thanks for sharing.
Sally Smith Thank you. Glad to hear you found the video helpful. 😊🌿
LOVED this. So helpful! I'm always scared to remove the babies from the mommy LOL Your Pilea looks AMAAAZING
This was so helpful. Thanks so much!
Guys who are good with plants so damn gorgeous 😍
Love artwork behind you!
Oh my freakin’ goodness that pilea is amazing! I can’t wait till mine is huge lol
OmG you have a stunning pilea! 😍
Nice looking plant, I haven't been able to find them in India ... great video, you are the best Plant guy Christian 👍
Just subscribed. Love love plants 🌱 ❤️
Your pilea is incredible!
I put one of my main plant babies directly into the soil and it took off very nicely. Thriving so well I have many babies on that one. Never thought to put it in water until I saw this video!
Yes! In fact babies that big already have root systems...not need to cut them off like that! You just dig around and find the root that leads to mother and in the soil right on top you will find the babies tiny but fully formed roots ready for potting!
Very helpful! I just bought one of these cute little plants and he’s already looking droopy so I want to learn everything I can to nurture him!❤️
Great video, and beautiful plant
Wow, just found your channel and love your content!! Beautiful plants :)
I love your use of he/him pronouns for the pilea peperomia and his babies, so wholesome!
Gorgeous plant.
Hi Christian! How are you?
Amazing plant and pups!
Guess what I finally bought today? A CHINESE MONEY PLANT! It is a small plant in a 4" pot for $4.98. It has a pup too.
My friend runs a local plant shop. She got a new supplier, who has some wishlist plants. I also bought a small Teardrop Plant for the same price. I bought a medium Goldfish for $5.98. She also gave me a 20%. SCORE!
Yesterday I bought a 10" Brazil for $10.98. It was from my Home Depot. Another good score!
Hope you have a good one,
Gerry
😎
Thank you, very helpful video 🙏🏽 xx
I love that you refer to your plants as him. I do this too with most ha ha
He’s beautiful ❤️
OMG I'm in love with your videos :)
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed them.
Most gorgeous pilea I've ever seen. Where are those round glass bubbles available where you placed the babies? Thanks.
☺ Beautiful Master Of Plants! 👍
It’s gorgeous!!!
Love this handsome guy guide
Can you please do a soil video?
Update: I clipped my Chinese money plants babies off yesterday. Two days ago. They are sitting in water near the window light hopefully will sprout roots and I can put them into soil.
Thanks for the tips on the specific type of soil this plant likes.
Beautiful plant.
I just purchased Pilea last week cause it was pretty, now I know to rotate it & check the soil. Hopefully mine will be beautiful like in the video.
Very beautiful plant. Mine is tiny but growing rather well.
May I ask how old you (mother) pilea is? I can't wait for mine to grow this big, it already has 2 teeny tiny babies growing 😍😍I'm so excited for all three of them to thrive
Great video! When during the water cycle is best to repot? My pilea is pretty dry and I don’t know if I should water before I repot? The leaves are also starting to yellow on bottom which is worrying me. Thank you for your advice!
Thanks for sharing this video!! 😄
mine just grew it’s second baby!! time to repot!
Great tutorial thank you
Your PP looks fab! The one I own is throwing off its leaves
Your pilea is gorgeous!
Loved this video ❤ You always explain everything in such detail which I appreciate. I'm new at growing pilea pepperomias, but have grown many other plants for yrs.. These are a bit picky for me so I really appreciated all the info you shared on them. Thanks from the bottom of my pots!
healthy plant . lovely plant
I'm still learning about house plant care. Does this pilea normally grow into a sphere shape? Looks too perfect.
South Africa ...I love your videos ..just got 2nd plant..my son bought me a hyacith...I bought a ZZ plant ..now I am starting my collection
Great instructional video. I just obtained one of these plants. It's not big enough to propagate yet, but know I now what to do.
So beautiful!!
What a beauty!
Hello ! Very good video you did here, great job ! I have just a little question, I don't pay attention if you said it but, are we obliged to take the plant out of the pot when you want to take the babies ? And in others videos, can you show us the growth of the babies ? Thank you :3
Such a cute pilea lol
I can't wait till my pileas look like that! I currently have two baby pileas. ☺
Hi Christian I am Ruby from Australia. Thank you for making your videos short and to the point with less chitchat, yet you are entertaining and sometimes funny, especially with some of your introductions. It helps that you speak fast. I find myself fast-forwarding if a video is too long. You break it down in segments as a separate video as well, even if it is the same plant. This helps too. God bless you and your new business / shop.
Good guidance.
Once you bring pilea into your home it begins to take over my grandparents have two entire tables just dedicated to pilea plants the mother plant the very first plant that spawned all the others is like 3ft tall
Beautiful plant! What do you do with the old dirt?
I have a question for you since you were such a huge help with one of my other plants... I have a huge ficus that I bought and repotted it. Well the roots were so fine that I decided to leave most of the nursery soil around the roots and filled the rest of the pot with excellent well draining soil... well the well draining soil has completely dried out and the nursery soil around the roots are still damp and it’s been 2 weeks! What should I do? The leaves have brown spots on them now and falling off.
Hi! How long, after the roots start appearing, do you wait to transplant to soil?
In Dutch we call this plant pancake plant (pannekoek plant) i have one myself and am waiting until the babies are big enough to grown in their own pot 😊
In Afrikaans we also call it panakoek plant dis n pankoek plant baie mooi
just found this video. after you finish with the soil, did you give the peperomia water directly or just let the soil dry?
Thx for sharing. Pls what's name of the 3 vase container u put the cuttings into? Second did u put anything in the water?
What are you going to do with the babies jw looks amazing
Hello, I’m a new subscriber and I recently just got this pancake plant. Can you please list out the details of the soil? You mentioned 3 different things that you mixed together. Thank you.
Awesome plant Christian, I watched this one and forgot to comment about the glass/wooden set for holding the babies. Where did you score that, its kool as heck :) Btw, great vids, learning so much, thanks.
Thank you. You can get the propagation station by clicking the link in the description above. :) they are one of my favs.
Should I keep or cut off the flowers on my pilea peperomioides? I can't find anything about them blooming?
Do you think it would be ok to use a grow light during the winter for the pilea?
Thanh Ha Yes. I actually use one to help extend the daylight hours since the days are shorter during the winter.
Hi to you! Would it have been safe to remove all of the babies had you chosen to, or would it have been too much of a shock in conjunction with repotting?
Excellent video, very instructive, to the point and lots of important detail. Question: My pilea has five babies but the central gowing plant has completely died back... I unknowingly cut the stalk back to 3 inches, thinking it would bush out. Probably very wrong. Now I am thinking to split off all the five babies into separate plants. Do I need to root each of them as shown in the video? or can they just get separated and planted directly into soil in separate pots. What would be the best thing to do? Thanks.
So if you have a mother plant that's gone a little haywire and the stem is collapsing, can you encourage the stem to produce higher up so that you can straighten the plant, or is it better to just stake it?
Woooo it's super beautiful
Can u say where did u get these beautiful glasses ❤️ ? I want something like this in my room to grow roots in water
i see there is a link to the product, its available on amazon
