Great comparison. I hear a lot of tube snobs complain about Blackstar saying they don't have an all tube preamp. They do use a clipping diode on the highest gain channel, but so do Engl, Marshall jcm 900 and Silver Jubilee. I have the HT 50 head, ended up selling my 3 Marshall and 2 Peavey heads because I preferred the sound of my Blackstar 😁
I have that same amp! You talking about after you crank it up its like sold state amp feel and sound! You are very much so right! I just got a Friedman BE-OD pedal that i just got the tone was so much better you crank it up around 3 on the vol. on OD-1 nice sound the OD-2 was okay but for me OD-1 i liked the most. i have a 4x 12 cab with vintage 30's in it.
They are close already. Bit of tweaking and they would sound the same. I got a Blackstar HT100 mk1 at a bargain price and sold my DSL not long afterwards. Way more versatile.
Marshall better. That Blackstar has the same problem I have had whenever I tried them at a jam or in a store; it doesn't "cut". I don't know if it's just an eq setting thing or something else, but the half-dozen or so different Blackstars I have tried always sound a bit like there is a big fat pillow over each speaker in the cabinet. It's not that high-end is missing, it seems like it's not smooth across the frequencies, like in this side-by-side. Oh, I really wanted to like Blackstar amps ever since they came out. They have a great lineup on paper, but they never sounded good to my ears..
@@Crypticmaskguitar Thanks, apologies I did not noticed the description. Good thing you managed to dial a decent tone in the ht100 using v30s, I believe the ht100 sounds best with seventy 80. And I agree to the fact that nothing special anything beyond 12noon at master. I have to use a 10 band eq just to tame some harsh frequency

fucking awesome sound on this recording, great job man. great comparison.
I love the grit of the marshall, and the smoothness of the blackstar. I'd personally blend them both in a mix.
Blackstar HT Stage 100 win!!

Marshall sounds fizzy and thin but the blackstar has a nice articulated punch easy win for the blackstar here
The question is which one do you like better?

They all sound good , but I like the dsl a little bit better
Those Marshall DSL amps are fizzy AF!!!
DSL amps in a trio aren't my thing. But with 2 guitars or keys they work really well. Hard to loose in a mix.
Did you use IR for both heads(as well as the other shootout vs the ht100) during recording?
Signal Chain is listed in the Description. I HATE IRs… Mic and a Cabinet. Cheers -Ryan

sos un monstruo con la guitarra un pro
deberia sacar un album con esos riff
There isn't a better or worse tone here. The two amps are different moods, each has their own attitude.
I feel like the Blackstar sounded better with chugs and rhythms but the DSL sounded better on the solos
thanks i was searching for something like this, all of the videos are either boomers playing random clean riffs or fuzzy rock stuff -_-
DSL sounds better to me
I think the blackstar sounds good but the marshall cuts through the mix well.
Hi, do you sell the vht ul?
I still have it. Will not sell. Cheers -Ryan
Marshall
