One of the main sticking points is the director didn’t know how to direct for/around cgi. He never done it before
alll mammals have ears perfecly aligned with thier eye line, so hearing smelling and sound are close together, hence where we have ears is where cats have them.
I think I’ve said it on every one of these, but the Harry Potter movies would be cool to dive into. Specifically monsters like the basilisk, buck beak, werewolf, dementors...the list goes on
I'm thinking of how the Quidditch scenes hold up and how they improved over time.

One thing I've noticed in the Cat characters is that while they have human faces, they don't have human ears on the side, the side of their head is empty and it's creepy as hell.

"This is the worst musical ever" And by far the hardest to preform! You have to be a perfect triple threat (a dancer, actor, and singer!) be able to sing and dance for 3 hours straight, and do 8 shows a week!
Lily Flowers Dolls right!?! I love broadway and no cats isn’t my favorite but it’s so interesting and it puts the audience in a different view so I think that it’s pretty awesome. And yes those performers are putting 100% into their performance and I appreciate it.

I also think this movie takes a little from that aspect. Because it's such a hard and demanding show to do, you end up appreciating the performances much more than when they're actors covered in fake fur and general cg, because they register in your mind like amazing human feats, actual people doing things without the aid of visual effects technology, while in this the cg takes center stage.

My problem with the Cats movie is that they tried to literally adapt a broadway stage show to a movie screen. This lead to a lot of inconsistency because what we have to use to portray animals and creatures on stage does not translate to film. The same goes for books, video games and other media. I think it would have been so much if they made actual CG cats that could dance and stuff like the "live asction" lion king animals... or even Puss In Boots from shrek? I mean Lion King The Musical is great, but there is a reason disneu didn't do what Cats did for the live action version agh. It just did such injustice to the actual story that Cats tells of llife and rebirth and spirituality and the natural world.....
One day they’re going to reveal that everyone in these videos is CGI

How does glass blowing art help humanity?
My problem with Cats:
The stage costumes are already good...why make them... What ever this is...
And the way the actors move... It just looks like someone dropped an ice cube down their shirt. The movement doesnt look natural. Its too over the top for a film. That kind of movement is fine on stage where everything needs to be over the top so people can see it clearly, but when you are in front of the camera it doesnt work. When you are shooting something the movement needs to be more suddle, more natural.
How to fix it: Dont make it live action. Do it as animation. I dont know why people are allergic to animation now a days. Not everything fits as live action movie. Cats being one of them.

The honest fact is you won’t get actors like Ian McKellen into a makeup chair for over 4 hours every day for an almost 8-12 hour shoot with some of the most difficult choreography ever that happened in film. In makes more sense from both a money perspective, a safety perspective, and an artistic perspective to do this movie with CGI
I do think that animation would work, but i would go like a style similar to samurai jack, no outlines and very stylized, that and stoo motion would go really nicely with some of the visuals, you could even keep some od the more theatrical stuff
The film was originally a 2d animated film in the same vain as Renaissance Disney and was directed by Speilberg, but the animation studio shot down during production. You can find storyboards and character designs readily online

the reason is money. they have too much of it.
On John wick, we made real firearms for the film. I was on the small crew making the rifles, pistols, and shotguns. They were real weapons (that's as far as I know if they used blanks, or just cg flashes)
But we hand built and modified the guns

Technically it's OK I guess, pretty good in some scenes. The thing is you can always tell you're looking at a full CGI caracter and it just removes you from the story, wich isn't great in the first place.
Alita has some of the best vfx I've ever seen. It's insane. Also good vfx=/=realistic.
@@musguelha14 I actually kept forgetting she was CG, I was only reminded that she's not real when she were in shots next to real characters. I honestly didn't expect the CG to be that good, but it was. The benefit of having James Cameron as producer, I suppose.
@@musguelha14 I agree with what Arcian said. But I didn't even think about it in the scenes where Alita stands next to real characters. Of course there are scenes that are obviously CG, but those were made in such a stylistic way, that they still fit pretty well and weren't distracting at all. But you can see, since we already have different opinions here, that it would be awesome to see the guys talk about it in a future episode :D

@Rizzo Grant exactly, it should either be the same costumes from the show and NO CGI or just literal CGI cats. Honestly, I prefer neither and for this movie not to exist at all, but both are preferable to mutant pygmy cat-people.
That hatred against glass-blowing art is a weird position to stake out, particularly absent any context or motivation, but I respect it.
Glassblowing is really cool, and I have a lot of friends who do it. They make a ton of glassware bowls & bongs. Clint is clearly a square.
And there's a difference between having a personal opinion and stating it as if others are wrong for believing otherwise :P Like saying "nobody asked for it". I mean, you're absolutely allowed to hate it and loathe it and find it ugly and what not, but it's not like nobody asked for it since apparently lots of people love it. I have absolutely no problems with expressing an opinion unless it's presenting itself as if others should agree. Keep it at yourself.

Unlike the play, they made the cat's faces way too smooth which accentuates the massive.... human forehead... Making them just look so odd.

And it doesnt help when they have cartoony proportions with an art style that is photorealistic thusly making it jarring, like with that battle angel movie
