I'm so sick of hearing, "I'd rather be poor now than rich then." lol
Could there be a more symbolic representation of this artificial society?
Hope, trust, faith, love - all dead to western humans.
Children systematically ruined by the state.
Being controlled to the point 'anti thinking for yourself' policy in place.
Borders of nations only existing in the form of not allowing the more successful to expand.
"Every women is a whore - but I have an electric toothbrush!"
Half your wealth Thanos snapped every 10 years.
      ___
And the entirety done in away so that if you're intelligent enough to see it all - you can't even call it out - because TV is the God of idiots, and idiots decide policy in democracies.
      -----
I pity the man who values this tripe.

Joined the Navy at 18 with 7k in the bank. I did janitorial and smoked a lot of pot in high school. Left the Navy after months with 40k in the bank. Invested 30k in the S&P stocks. Started working at UPS, Exide Battery and did concrete on Saturdays. Invested 1k a month every month into it with my Financial advisor James Fletcher Brennan, Cashed out 350k from the S&P Cashed out and Semi retired at 31. Took a year off. Traveled. Came home and started working part time just for the insurance, entertainment and pocket change and still investing in stocks with a 3 million net worth, Work isn't work when you don't have to work. Becoming wealthy can be done in few years. It feels like 60hr work weeks. Feel the pain of discipline early or feel the pain of regret later. I wish everyone well!

I can't believe how good this is. I only knew vaguely of him through Tim Ferris. He really became wise over the years. He learned his lessons and he really gets the model of the last twenty years. The story about him reading WSJ at a meeting even early in his career is something we all wish we could have done or even do now. He just never stopped doing it and respected his own time while still caring about the mission of the organization.

The language he uses to try to describe his job is so exactly what Naval is talking about here, but with Twain’s unique power of language, that it really takes my breath away. Always has.
