RUclips algo brought me here… I had several run ins with Minato-ku girls. It’s fairly pernicious. Once they get a taste of that lifestyle, they can’t seem to go back to the ordinary lifestyle of average Japanese person. I’ve seen these girls pass up some great guys for marriage. Then the girls hit 30 while single to ultimately suffer serious mental breakdown. I’ve seen at least 4 girls in my circle go through this.
Wow, that's crazy. I can't imagine a good amount of them not finding a spouse. Why do you think they can't after so many years in the lifestyle? Bad reputation? Too much dating around? Luck?
Yeah, these girls are making over 10,000 USD a month just dating. I work 55 hours a week in Japan, earning only 2,200 USD in a month. I feel like ridiculous for working seriously.
@@asdfghjjhgfwell minato girl is basically a escort job if you don't have any dignity you can go ahead and just do that but to maintain the "desirable looks" for the sugar daddies you will need to spend most of money anyway and it also has an expiry date like after 25 they don't get invited anymore. So if you want to have a short lived lavish lifestyle and then end up being debts for the rest of your life. That's your choice to make. Good luck
@@kn2549What is the difference between being with a rich man/dating rich men and prostitution for you? And if a man is always chasing sex does that also make him a gold digger? Since the gold would be sex?
They look like spoiled little girls. A gaijin Hunter tried to offer me to go to Minato City, I declined. I saw a girl on a train while seeing her swiping on what looked like expensive bags and she looked high maintenance. I tried moving in and she did some wooing but I eventually chickened out but I’m glad that I did. Just too expensive. Reminds me of the West.
I feel like i saw another video about the term and they considered it pretty negative. like another way to say "she belongs to the streets" but that typical japanese-style round aboutness lol
"In Japan, the papa-katsu lifestyle doesnt necessarily have a negative image." This is so damn false lol. In a normal company job, nobody would admit to doing papa-katsu as a side job because it's so shameful.
Hmm...that's why I said it doesn't necessarily have a negative image. Most people don't really care, at least in my experience. Obviously I don't think people would volunteer that info, tho I have known some people who talked about it fairly casually. Interesting if your experience has been different!
I’m a bit upset I would like to live in minato ku to have good education in an international school there, does that make me bad? Does it make me one of them?😢
The slaves are always trying to please the master. They can't see that the master is using them. They often get used by the men they chase. They often get used by the brands they buy. I pity them.
The important things of life. Not every girl will give away what they really prefer, instead referring to it indirectly and using commonly accepted signs of achievement and or desirability as token markers in their posts. The reality can be a whole lot different because... well it's pretty difficult to stay in that zone, as it's often actually for show - in effect staged. And sometimes that's the reality of making the best of their situation... So what they're implying is they've found someone or maybe have a relationship with someone who - well helps them feel good, feel they've achieved and of course feel wanted / valuable. Think of this as social grooming. This isn't generated by money, by professional success, or by having a wild time clubbing - the key is in the word: grooming. Take a deep breath and internalise. As in the feeling you get when a hairdresser is fixing your hair, or when your masseur is sorting out the mess your body has become. You get it when someone is paying 100% attention to your well-being - so that you look your best and feel at your best. It's different in Japan in that Japanese girls don't carry the same cultural baggage as Western girls, and in particular, terms that have a negative connotation eg in the UK, have a different significance in Japan. Also, having spoken to Japanese girls, they seem less shallow than typical English girls - although they connect to current pop-culture, their waters run deep. But still... the condition of Japan - reducing marital rates and birth rates, shows a chasm between the ideal - stable relationship with children to show off to your parents, and the reality of employment instability which leaves most guys aware that they will never be good providers, and thus long-term relationships are out of the question. Tokyo evolved into its current glamorous dystopia over the past 20 years and: given that the ideal marriage age for a girl is during her 20's; that's effectively 2 marital generations written off. The SF writer Philip K Dick had a lot to say on the fake and the real - my take is that Minato-ku girls take pains show the fake because, in Tokyo at least, the real has been put on hold. Meanwhile guys and girls live their dream (or that could be: live out fake lives). Please let me add that I find Japanese girls very attractive.
Thanks for the question. :) Not very many, I imagine, as it's certainly not an easy or stable lifestyle choice. I'm afraid I have no numbers so I won't guess and give out wrong info!!

These girls would be smart to invest more of their money on something besides fancy clothes. Their looks will fade some day.
This was a great video, landed on it randomly, but great presentation!
Great to hear! 😊
Great video. I like that you're talking about what is essentially a stereotype withiut indulding in excessive stereotyping, if it makes sense.
Thanks, I appreciate the comment ☺️

What is the Japanese for hypergamy?
i guess the down side or dating a rich "high spec" man is that he could probably just find another gf when he bored.
I prefer Shikoku girls. They know how to work and and are lots of fun. Down to earth.
So freelance hostesses?
I think that's a fair comparison! But I think Minato-ku girls take it further with serious relationships, etc.
No more like spoiled girlfriends, trophy wives and sugar babies. Less of a job and more like real relationships that these women intend to keep.

By high quality you mean rich correct?
No, she mentioned the criteria in the video: besides high income, it includes being tall (or having good looks) and well educated.
