I wish Ayurveda resurrection in the modern world and India has a huge role to play, but I as a Nepali and many Nepalese have started being aware about how India, taking the lead position in bringing legitimacy to Ayurveda in the world, is also trying to prove itself as the sole founder("where the roots are") of Ayurveda.
I think it's hypocrisy calling out other nations when they patent something ayurvedic( ayurvedic medicines shouldn't be patented because they existed thousands of years ago and nobody owns it), but when Indian companies will patent Ayurvedic medicines, then guess what happens?
1)Those Indians who were bhakts of Ayurveda will suddenly be silent about the issue since it's their country receiving the rights.
2)Medicines that were only found in Nepal until a few years ago are patented by some other country and that country holds the right to anytime sue Nepal for utilizing that medicine that was here in Nepal all the time.
And this is again inter-connected with other related aspects like India simply ignoring the existence of Nepal when they say that India is the sole home of Vedas, while in reality India isn't one inch more home to Veda than Nepal is. India could patent many things that were actually associated to the region of Nepal in the Vedas. And I don't speak for Nepal only; otherwise, I'd commit the same error like India. I want to speak for the Vedas. I appeal to Indians to not try to patent information and knowledge present in the vedas(Ayurveda or anything), whether such information presently is found in Nepal, India itself, Bhutan, Sri Lanka or anywhere.
What do you Indians feel about this?

@@thecardtrickstudent3870 Ayurveda is universal to dharmic regions. Local nepali herbs that are indigenous and not found elsewhere is not patented by India to exclude Nepal. That which is shared, like turmeric etc are shared as patent in the region. I think you are under the impression that patenting Yoga for example disallows rights to Nepali people or practisioners. It merely states that it belongs to the system of Yoga and Indic civilization which Nepali Hindus are part of. So Pakistanis cannot claim it. Again it is not India vs Nepal, which is a hateful maoist-propaganda instilled in Nepali Hindu minds to hate other Hindus. There is no harm in patents with designated regions as it protects our rights globally.

Digestion aside. America getting into something turns it to an exploitative consumerism. No matter what the global supply, the average consumer wants it on their table. This will lead to exploitative patents of herbal plant cultivation, if the plant grows only in India then the region where it is cultivated will see rise in conversions and demographic changes. Hope things don’t go in that direction!!!

Nice and concise discussion. Rajivji, you have done great job here. I am an optimist. I think we will surely bounce back and challenge west at any level. It's just a matter of time! That doesn't mean that we just wait for it patiently. We have to do our part with hard work, strategically, respectfully but aggressively defending ourselves. Rajivji, you are an excellent example of that. West hasn't learned yet that by short changing source and short sighted goal are back firing on them. They have done the same thing with religion and now they are realizing the shortcoming of their modified control freak foundation. It is backfiring on them. It may take time but eventually truth will prevail.

Like the digestion by western science we will also have to accept things from them like some concepts of modern anatomy and physiology and then we will have to have to take steps to hybridise the knowledges for better understanding without harming the main roots of our system, rather than giving them chances to digest our system. Then only I think it can survive in 21st century

There is some good information here. Excellent that Rajiv is bringing out some issues that NEED to be spoken. Especially the issue of Sanskrt non-translatables and the issue of licensing. Congrads for the good info that they convey....
But it is WEIRD that the speaker gives so many WRONG DATA.... For example, the school in Boulder is not the only doctor program in USA. There are THREE programs, of which the other two are run by Indian vaidyas, whereas the one she mentioned is run by a western woman doctor....why? In addition, if she is really working on Health Freedom in Massachusetts, why could she not mention the other east coast state when Rajiv asked for them: Maine as well as Rhode Island, and she could have listed all the others, especially citing Minnesota as the champion, with work done by pioneer lawyer Diane Miller.... Why not mention the work of other Ayurveda coalitions in the USA, such as AAPNA, AAC, CAMA, and the strong state associations in California and Colorado? Leaving out certain information is the way people claim authority. This ability is a testament to someone's true leadership and the inability is a strong demonstration of why only 1500 members have organized from 30 years of ayurvedic school programs in the USA.... Rajiv should have also done some homework before publishing this, as he is known for his meticulousness....

Namaste Rajiv Ji- try to meet Modi on your next visit to Bharat , and pitch him the idea of exporting Ayurveda like TCM. If he doesn’t take action on your advice please make a video on that, so that it becomes a movement in 🇮🇳 as most of your subscribers are Bharatians
