Back in the Airstream... but not for long.

- It's great to be back on the road, but it's not easy getting out of the house. The Airstream was a disaster and we could hardly see the floor. We figured we'd deal with it on the road, and that's what happened. If getting out of the house is chaotic for you too, you're not alone! The last thing we carried out of the cabin was a printer. The last item in hand is usually pretty random!

Don't let these little repairs mislead you. Yes, the Airstream has had some issue, but we've traveled from Texas to Arizona to Maine to Arizona to Florida to Arizona to Michigan. Stuff is going to happen!
You may remember JB from our Destin, FL episode. After buying his RV, the dealer service manager said, "No matter what happens, keep going!". We tend to agree (within reason). Your RV will never be 100% and those that think it needs to be perfect to be suitable to travel will miss too many great trips. Be safe and keep the rubber on the road, but keep on keeping on!

Everything is right in the world for the 20-30 minutes I get to watch my KYD 🤙🏽
I always get so sucked into your videos and then get sad when they are over. Every single time lol
So TRUE!!
Yup.. same here. 😜
So funny! My family and I are on our first big trip with our camper. We purchased it in the late fall and took all winter to gut and build back the interior. As soon as we bought it, I found your videos. Been watching them ever since. At the end of this video you are in our home state of Missouri. Currently we are camping between Bryce and Zion. A few days ago we were at the Grand Canyon. As we drove through Flagstaff my kids were commenting on how you all lived there. To say you all have been a big influence on us is an understatement. My wife and I also completed KYD55 early this year. Because of you, we hiked up Scouts Lookout yesterday at Zion. I did it with our 3 year old on my back in a carrier. Never could have done that if not for the work during 55. Thank you KYD!

I'm a retired truck driver and I watch your show every week. Y'all talked about the truck driver honking and y'all wasn't sure why, put a CB in your truck so you can talk to some of the truck drivers plus it's a good safety tool so you have warning on what's going on in front of you. If there is an accident, you might get enough warning to take an alternate route. Just a suggestion. Safe travels.
Then they would have to listen to all u guys saying look at that blonde in that pickup pulling that camper. Or telling her show me your itts . I don’t know how truckers drive safe with them looking down in every car for u no what. Or cussing all them 4 wheelers on their phone but yet your on your cb looking at them
When traveling, I always have my "portable" CB and magnetic antenna. One time we were driving all night and came across a detour due to a major accident and it pushed us off the interstate on to backroads in the middle of nowhere. This was well before GPS and we had NO idea where we needed to go to get past the accident and back on the freeway. Luckily, we were able to listen in on the Truckers explaining to each other exactly how to do that. Might not need it much, but when you do it's really nice to have.
@@randywilson6869 Not all truck drivers are bad, yes there are those that are but most are good people plus before you knock them too bad, remember how you get everything you own and need, a car didn't deliver it. 🙂

I'm a trucker, and I've been a subscriber since Season One! 😊
Your family packs a lot of Joy and Love into a Sunday Evening it's a must see just like Disney was when I was growing up.
So nice to hear a son say he loves his parents!!!
They really are the best family.
I was in a Home Depot this week and a child was doing everything to get his dad's attention but being completely ignored. I wanted so badly to tell that guy that the most important thing he has all day was paying attention to his child.
@@feetincheseighths You should have. I would have. Sometimes some people NEED a "rap to the head"!!!
I love your videos. We will never be able to travel like you do. We are older and on a fixed income. It’s wonderful you made this happen in your life. The kids and you are able to have an adventure of a lifetime. It is good to see your children grow up. They are beautiful and handsome so responsible and respectful. Good luck on your travels
Suggestion. Also while you have the trailer jacked up checking for play in the wheel bearings, spin the tire and listen for unusual grinding like metal on metal. Diagnosed many a wheel bearing issue with that simple test. God bless!
Pull the breakaway cable to check brakes too while you’re at it.
I know I’ve said it before, and guess what I’ll probably say it again, “You guys make me smile”. Thanks.
After spending the last six months full time rving, I see this video and man, I miss the open road..! Thanks for yet another great video. Safe travels and keep on making amazing memories..! that's what its all abot.
You'd be surprised how many truckers watch your adventures. I personally have learned a few things to help me stay organized from your videos. I stay on the road 6 months take a week at "home" (my sisters) then repeat. So living in a tiny space and staying healthy takes some doing. I appreciate videos like y'alls.
I love watching your videos, always an inspiration! I got my camper 2 years ago and right after life blew up for me and it has been sitting in the driveway since! This year things are finally changing a bit and i have mostly been moochdocking at friends property's. I'm hoping to spend most of this summer fairly local in friends driveways but come next spring im hoping to finally be in a position to hit the open road and really stretch her legs! Planning on spending about a year traveling the country looking for a place to buy some retirement land to build a cabin on then in the winter season i want to lock up the property and travel. Thanks again and keep up the good work, may god bless you and family on your journeys!
Love this as got to see Charlie and your back in the airstream. YEA!!! Do look forward to the new season and where you take us. Love y'all
My wife and I will start full-timing this fall, and KYD has been instrumental. I found your channel a few months ago and went back and watched every episode. We're excited to make our own memories! Thank you for your inspirational and helpful content!
You'll Love it! We started last fall! 8 months have flown by!
Congratulations! Just remember to slow down and enjoy the journey. We have been fulltime for 4 years.
This is the best vid you guys put out in a long time.. reminds me of the older days... Thank you..
I wear your merch everywhere and have not yet ran into someone in my neck of the woods that has said anything to me....my husband (truck driver) wore his hoodie to work and 3 of his fellow truck drivers told him that they watch KYD too!! LOVE this community!! Happy Camping!!
We learned something very important from a trucker in Arizona. He told us to twist our chains a bit before we hook them up so they don’t hit the the street and cause sparks. He said some state will give you a ticket for sparks that could start fires.
Caleb is a natural behind and in front of the camera. (at the same time.) Of course he has had lots of practice from over the years.
Loving being back on the road. I felt nearly as excited about starting your new adventure as I feel when starting out on my own! Thanks.
Referring to your comment about wondering if Truckers follow KYD, yes, some of do!!
I'm continually watching for you on the road hoping for the privilege and opportunity to honk at you and even more being able to meet you guy's!!!
Keep up the great work, I/we enjoy your adventures each week, thank you for what you do for those of us that are still stuck in the daily work force!!!👍👍
Hi Y'all, We were traveling from Southeast Texas up to Colorado in early June, and I was amazed by the amount of green we saw in Amarillo! I took pics and showed my Dad, he was amazed, also. Staving off drought conditions for a little longer, this year. I'll have to check out this campground....
Love sitting watching KYD in my Summer To Remember shirt.
Very cool the Trucker Honked & you returned the honk! Then a text message from the wife, that the BEST! FYI, We had so many situations where a trucker has ALWAYS BEEN HELPFUL AND NICE! Safe Travels Always.
I love the travel excitement and the "make it yours" attitude you share with the alterations on the stream. The "make it yours" changes I have done to my '06 are what has kept me from getting another one! I love the idea to get a newer one but when I think about all the changes made, I chant, "use what you have, use what you have!" I do not have a Berkey, I use a distiller but I do the same thing- floor in the corner.
Hey guys glad to see you're back on the road I'm one of those over the road truck drivers that follows you. I just realized the Oasis is across the street from the new Love's truck stop I try to stop there every chance I get
We just sold our home and going fulltime. I sold our big printer and bought a compact one - works great. Love watching your videos, have learned so much. Thanks
We loved The Oasis except for when I got locked in the women's restroom/shower room. LOL. It was our first trip as RVers and we were traveling to find warmer weather from Southern Illinois. Love your channel.
Love it when you carried out the printer. That's so my techie/photographer guy hubby🥰.
The KYD cabin looks amazing! What a difference from when you first took ownership - wow. Love the green, and all the beautiful wood, etc. Nice work, you guys! Would love to see a video of all the upgrades to the exterior, compared to when you bought it.
You guys are so funny and so functional! :)
We watch a lot of RV RUclipsrs, but you guys are "the 'Big Show' - so polished & professional in such a casual way. - Thanks!
I started using a tension curtain rod between my 2 little ottomans about 10-12" up off the floor to 'pin' a few items into place while traveling to keep them from sliding around. You might be able to do the same to keep your Berkey and coffee pot in place on the floor.
We leave Saturday from Mississippi to get our brand new camper (coachmen apex nano 208bhs) from little rock, Arkansas. Our first time camping in our new rig will be in Hot springs! We're all very excited. It's been almost 6 years since we last camped in our old one. Any tips on places in Hot Springs?
It’s finally KYD Sunday!
After watching your channel for a long time I finally picked up my first rig. It is a 2021 Forest River Grey Wolf 23DBH. I’ve been making sure I have the essentials before our maiden voyage. Thank you for your words of “start small, start now”, they were the right words my wife needed to hear to go ahead and pull the trigger.
Congrats!
We LOVE our Beddy’s! We got it for the RV and loved them so much that we got them for our house. They’re amazing!
Congrats on the graduation! God bless your trips!
Berky solution. We carry ours in a 5 gal Home Depot bucket, fits perfect and allows us to travel with some water in the Berky without worrying about spills. Excited for you to be back on the road😎
I was an OTR driver when I started watching your videos. I drive for a local grocery store chain now in Northern Cal. I've always been on the look out for y'all and use your videos to talk my wife into your travel adventures. Love y'all and thank you.
Yesterday we were driving home to Peoria AZ, from Idaho Falls, ID and saw a kYd sticker on a car in front of us in Southern Utah. Brought a smile to my face. Safe travels...
aww the horn honking and then the insta message made me tear up! y’all are the best ❤️
Looking forward to your next video. Glad to see Both of you Marc & Trish Tori, Caleb, & Charlie. Charlie seems use to watching the squirrels. So contented lying on the seat in his happy place. Looking forward to seeing Carson. I use to send a card with a bag of microwave pop corn in it. It read like this, "I hope you have a popping good 4th!" 🍿. ENJOYED your video.
12:21 "Sharpening the Saw" was made popular by Stephen Covey in "7 habits of highly effective people".
Yes!!
Great to see the ole’ Airstream back on the highway. Springfield, MO! You were in my hometown area and I was on the West Coast! Unreal! Loved my days living in Springfield.
Great tunes and highway footage!
We are from Michigan and currently do list of camping around our own state. We hope to meet you some day as I count the time until my dream of full time becomes reality. Love the show, love watching you all grow and that we can share and learn with you. ❤️ many blessings to your new season and new adventures
We just returned from Mackinac Island, we wore our Summer to Remember shirts and had two celebrity sightings. Amy Roloff and a family wearing their Summer to Remember shirts! It was a great trip, in a Fifth Wheel. Would not have thought to do it without your influence! Thank you!
Happy to see you guys back on the road for new adventures and Fun! Love yall 3000!
I carry ISC Racers Tap. It is 9 mil and is used for surface protection and on Helicopters. It is clear and is 2" wide. It will hold body parts until you can do a final repair. I purchased my tape from Summit Racing. Great product and has got me out a bind.
I'm a trucker and I follow KYD! We have a 1997 Dodge (had the engine rebuilt at 355,000 miles, custom build, she's a beauty) and a 43' toy hauler. We're retiring soon and hitting the road!
BTW, I drive for Kroger and have
2,000,000 safe driving miles!
We keep our coffee maker and tall utensil holder in a storage ottoman. We have two- they are foldable and have a cushioned top that has a hard-sided tray underneath. They have been very useful, and we just slide them under the dinette or on the bunks for travel. We also have kept our ice maker in the shower for travel days- a highly recommend getting one! Cabela's makes a great ice maker and has a lifetime warranty. Safe travels!
Awww...didn't realize you would be so close! We live about 45 minutes south of Springfield, near the Mark Twain National Forest. If you come back this way, you're welcome to stay here, we have plenty of room!
That house is beautiful. That dark green paint is stunning.
It turned out well and it's good to be done!
Totally enjoy the adventure with you guys. Very cool the trucker recognized you guys and you guys honked back. Hate that I have to wait until Sunday for another video. Thanks for taking us along.
In May I drove all of Route 66 from Chicago to LA, so I enjoyed seeing part of the Route in your video. Good to see you back on the road! I really enjoy watching your videos, and they inspire me to get out there even though I only have a car at this time.
I use a new 5 gallon bucket with a towel tucked to wedge in the berkey. I added a stainless steel spigot too. It's more durable. The bucket is tall enough that the top of the berkey does not bounce off during travel and damage the filters.
My Big Berkey travels in the kitchen sink perfectly. With the rubber foot, it never moves.
Beware of I-80 through Joliet Illinois! That's where we grew up and it's always been the worst... Lol. Glad your back on the road and safe travels!
It’s been awesome to watch these guys over the years and I’m super excited to hopefully see the entire gang back together again. I think it’s so cool that they can still get excited to interact with fans. Dad jokes and tiny hands always make me laugh.
Great video you two, the way you two work 50-50 together is awesome. I think Charlie loves riding in the Truck so much!!!
We are one week into our trip thanks to y’all. One lesson learned right off the bat was to check all bolts and nuts everywhere especially when the roads have been rough. Keep the videos coming.
I’m glad you pay the guy extra for fjr helping out with getting you the bolt. Glad there wasn’t anything wrong with the truck or air stream when the semi honked. Glad it was someone that new you from Utube or Instagram.
I only wish we could honk back! Now that's "T" Shirt worthy.
The sadness of a missed opportunity, Marc must have felt 🤣🤣🤣
Lol. So true.
I laughed out loud. 😂
Love your comment on the email. "Your RV will never be 100% and those that think it needs to be perfect to be suitable to travel will miss too many great trips."
In March I had a "driving incident", got the essential (plumbing) repairs completed but was waiting over 6 weeks for metal sheeting for a cosmetic repair. Finally gave up and left for my full time life on the road and sure enough the metal showed up. I'm loving life out here and will return to the repair shop in Sept when I have some down time. Glad that I had this time for my adventures and not one person has even mentioned/noticed the damage.
We just bought an RV b/c of you guys! Just took it out for the first time for a week, Dang! RVing is a lot of work!!! Don’t know how you full timers do it🥵. We had a blast though and it was made so much easier as we were well equipped from being a virtual camper for the past few years😄. Thanks for all of your helpful info, it made us not feel like newbies!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻👉🏻🌟
*One thing to note: You don’t need all of your summer clothes in the RV, all of your underwear or shoes…and definitely not all of your food from the pantry. We used about 1/4 of what we took😂. Next time will be easier, we won’t spend days packing!
Glad to see you guys are back on the road. Love following your adventures. Stay safe.
Caleb is hysterical! I will be sad when he goes off to college and is not part of your weekly videos. I would love to see him do one all by himself. Well, maybe Caleb and Charlie. I look forward to the “Camping with Caleb” episode.
You stayed 15 minutes from my house in Springfield, MO! AWESOME! My husband and I were just saying that Springfield needs a nice RV park.
Hi, you asked where we put our Berkey. I take it apart, put it a cloth bag and place it on the floor of my hanging closet. The closet is small and the Berkey fits snugly. I keep some of the already filtered water in the frig so we have some to drink while traveling.
All sofas should afford a "Prime Napping Position" (Matt's RV Reviews may have a patent on that)
Love you r fam. makes me a better father after watching your videos.
I’m a trucker and I follow you guys!!
I’m glad to see that you still have some time to stay connected with the insiders and respond to comments. Keep doing what you do. 👍🏼
Can't wait to see what this season has in store. You keep hinting about it! I'm dying to hear your plans for the coming year. We've loved coming along with you guys for a while and have enjoyed bingewatching all of your past episodes as well. We feel like we're part of your family at this point. Thanks so much for letting us coming along on your adventures!
Great episode guys!!!! We love KYD!!!
Been watching this channel since about the time you started in 2015, amazing seeing all the changes going on over that time.
As for the Stanley Marsh Cadillacs. Nowadays, they're considered pop art, but originally, it was nothing more than a really eccentric rich person buying Cadillacs each year and considering them lemons. He then buried each on nose down, with the headlights sitting on the brake lights (based off something that occurred in ancient times). Stanley Marsh was not exactly a nice guy either. He put the son of a rival family in a cage once. He had a ranch named "Toad Ranch" in North Amarillo, which is now a housing development.
My husband made our table small and round. We put stickers from the national parks we’ve visited and on it and then epoxied it. We were afraid it’d look cheesy but it’s perfect.
Oasis RV Resort was our last stop heading home from our last trip out west. It is a great place to stop for an overnight stay - especially when it is raining. It is nice packing up without mud all over everything that was outside. LOL
My ex and I did 30K miles in our coach...then 173K on motorcycles with a Bunkhouse trailer. I didn't cook but towed the trailer, we stayed in truckstops, casino parking lots, campgrounds. Traveled secondary roads and small towns... the USA is the most amazing scenery! Different routes on every trip!
For your "berky" I would recommend looking into a 3D printed insert to your basket. That would prevent having to stuff towels in there and help keep it stable
We were camping this weekend in Indiana. I saw a white Ford pulling an Airstream and nearly lost my my my, I thought it was you guys!!!! Love your videos!
That’s cool that the trucker follows the channel and honked at you guys. And no Tricia you can not have a enough horn. 😁
We were at the Oasis RV Resort in Amarillo, TX at the same time!! I saw our truck and 5th wheel on the footage as you guys were leaving!! My husband has the American and TN flag flying. I’m so sad we missed meeting you!!
Trish I love the bedding . It looks like it's a really good way to easily make the bed and keep things neat looking. I will keep this bedding in mind when I get my Airstream one day.
Totally worth the price! It’s works on any bed RV or not.
You manage to capture in light, sound, and local interactions the serene contentment of being on the road.
For the Berkey, we leave it on the countertop (elevated on a pedestal to fit your cup under) then put an I bolt in the wall behind it, then wrapped a black bungee cord around and through the I bolt. Easy to remove, stays put. We just leave it hooked up, whether we are moving or not.
Good idea !!! Do you leave water in it while traveling ?
@@rnupnorthbrrrsm6123 we do, no problem. I try to make sure its not more than 3/4th full when traveling though.
Happy Sunday KYD Family! Your videos are the highlight of my Sundays!
We've in a motorhome and have had really good luck with just letting the Berkey ride on the counter where it lives when we're parked. We normally have a string tied loosely around the top portion as an extra safety measure against tipping, but it's never moved with the non-slip black rubber insert on the bottom. It does raddle a little on bad roads, but it's never moved or caused a problem for us. We love the basket idea though, good idea!
Glad you stopped in Springfield. Mother's Brewing is a good place. Hope you enjoyed my hometown.
Always love your music selection! I pretty much watch at least one of your videos a day, but there is a long way to go! Just finished a short trip with our RV. While there we were talking to some fellow campers about what RUclips channels we sub to, and the first one we both said was Keep Your Daydream! Good job guys.
On our long trips, we call those "reset" days. Sometimes ya just gotta clean, reorganize, do laundry, and make sure everything works. Plus we discovered the way we loaded the truck in the driveway didn't work on the road, and we redid everything. Plus, bought a 21 F-150 a couple of weeks ago, and a Bedslide and Viair Air Compressor is going in TOMORROW!!!
Pretty sure were gonna see a nice new beautiful Class A!
Robin at Creativity RV, her RUclips channel knows a guy who will make your table from the road--he met her at an RV Park (she has a Grand Design) now and she has a Berky too with good storage ideas.
Ahh, that would be a 13/16" socket. 😎
So this the "engineers and mechanics anonymous" meeting!? I figured I would find it under 13/16 socket... Well met everyone. I'm Josh. 😁
I knew it was a 13/16 before he said 3/16, then when he did I was waiting for him to correct himself.😆
i assumed that he meant 3/4", but 13/16" makes more sense
New GoPro on the dash? I really love the emphasis on comfort in the RV. That's been a learning lesson for us too. Unfortunately our couch isn't quite so adaptable. But I have found those fold up stools that are great in an RV makes a perfect ottoman with a pillow on top.
I have two cloth bins under our dinette table for our bottled water and some other things. I think having your Berkey there is perfect.
I’m a truck driver and I follow you guys,we live your videos..hello Marc and Trish
We travel with a printer in our Airstream TT. We use a Canon Pixma. It’s very small and we don’t have to do a lot of printing.
Note to self... finish dinner before KYD video. "I wish we could honk back". I about choked on the Beef and Broccoli from laughing.
I don't have room for one but some people put their Berkey up with industrial velcro and bungees near a window on the side of the freshwater hose.
Living an RV life through your channel. We haven’t been able to camp yet. Bad weather, lockdowns, exams….hopefully we get a chance soon to use our RV…
