Going throw them days has taught us to always over pack, take everything under the sun! We would even travel with a generator, meds can be little tricky at times, but you gotta get with your doc on that one! Over packed on food, clothes, baby formal for my little brother! You live in the Mountains- Live by these words - Stand up and save yourself, it's no one's responsibility to save you! Know I am all for helping in a emergency - But it has been a week - Get together with neighbors and help each other
For that woman with the baby and anyone else that need the advice; if you're out of formula, as long as your baby doesn't have underlying allergies or specific medical conditions, whole milk will do in a pinch for a couple of days, it's perfectly safe as long as it's pasteurized which all store bought milk is. My older brother refused nursing and formula as a baby, my mom put him on regular whole milk instead and he loved it, he is now a 6' 4" veteran. (Goats milk is even better if you have that)
I was always under the impression that we don’t give whole (dairy) milk period to babies under the age of one year due to digestion reasons. I’m sure in a pinch like you said it would be okay, but I’m not so sure about a 4-5mo old..?
how about using your god given teets to feed your little sappling? theres a concept? i guess when your backwoods you do backwood shiet..caqn someone please pass me a cupppa white lightnin
It's crazy to me no one thought to remove the snow from that store rooftop before it collapsed. I understand California doesn't get snow in those amounts very often, but they do get snow in the northern parts annually. Removing large amounts of snow from roofs to prevent buckling/collapse is like Snowstorm 101.
Snow doesn’t come down this late into the year people go for the day up there to play in the snow. So theres usually a huge line going up mountain. And this was a record breaking snow storm.
I don’t know much about the weather there… But here in Florida we really don’t know anything about snow. I have never even seen snow and would have no idea of what to do. I know it seems like a good idea after the fact that the roof buckled, but they may not have thought of it. I don’t know though if they never get snow like us but people would die in Florida if they were snowed in for nine days. We wouldn’t know how to handle it.
It's not that no one thought it. It's they couldn't. It would take a massive amount of people and equipment to clear a roof that size with that much snow (if it collapsed the roof, it's got to be thousands of pounds worth). People can't even get out of their homes or access their vehicles and vehicles from the outside can't make it on a tiny one way lane that isn't even totally cleared.
I always wonder why people never listen to stocking food or finding safe shelter when their told of “ catastrophic storms “ like this blizzard. What did you expect after being told to brace yourself with shelter and provisions due to there being a record breaking snow storm about to Bury most parts of Northern California.
I'm glad someone said it, like it was breaking news for quite sometime, if you live in the mountains being prepared for weather and even fire should be top priority
This is the reason why I can't really sympathize with a lot of people in the mountains, they were told for days before the blizzard hit to either leave the mountains or stock up and be prepared to shelter in place, but most chose to ignore the warnings and people even came to be part of it and see the snow. Now they have no one to blame but themselves.
This is why you make sure you have emergency supplies for things like this. I can tell by where this lady lives, she lives in an area where people have money. They can afford to have an abundant emergency supply for their entire family, for weeks, but it's obvious they didn't care. There were warnings about the incoming storms, so these people chose not to act. It's their own fault they ended up in a situation like this.
Been surviving in the Midwest my entire life. The winters never feel easier. Local governments NEVER help the residents properly prepare. It's typical for many to get snowed in, and it's frustrating as Hell. Some jobs bully their employees to get to work and it's ridiculous. @@Jesus-The-Everlasting-Father Whether or not this weather is a result of climate change was never the topic; it had to do with the fact that global warming CAUSES extreme variations in weather, i.e., climate change. Climate change encompasses global warming; it has existed for as long as human activity degenerated into natural resource exploitation and industrialization. Climate change has existed for centuries, especially from the 19th and 20th century. The fact that you think "global warming" is a recent topic already predates your absolute stupidity, because it is not a new topic. The discourse of negative environmental change from human activity has existed for centuries. Leaving the hospital with a newborn baby in that kind of weather is absolutely ridiculous they should have known to stay inside until its safe to return home. @Malachy Smith Yeah, you don't wanna be around these kind of people in survival situations. They might end up getting us killed in the process lol.
Good reason to be prepared for anything! Can’t depend on outside help. Be responsible for you and yours and help others next.

God bless everybody who is doing all that they can for those people. I greatly hope that it will be enough.
Having an emergency food supply, medicine, water, etc should be Snowstorm 101 too.
They're americans. Snow-clearing is not part of the job description. 😂
Now they have no one to blame but themselves.
no southern california person has experienced snow like this ever before.
@@diva8717 only the First Lady was really tripping
How often do you have blizzards in California? I thought California was nice all year.
If you wanna live in the mountains, you damn well better be prepared for what comes along with it.
It hurts for them to spend MONEY. TIGHTWADS
If you fail to prepare then prepare to fail.....mother nature will have the last word.
Been surviving in the Midwest my entire life. The winters never feel easier. Local governments NEVER help the residents properly prepare. It's typical for many to get snowed in, and it's frustrating as Hell. Some jobs bully their employees to get to work and it's ridiculous. Best thing you can do is learn from the experience, and make friends with neighbors. You'll need each other in the days to come. Weather is getting wilder not milder. Best of luck to all, Mother Nature ain't one to underestimate. She's undefeated.
This is actually sad, I hope they get the help they need. God bless everyone affected by this.

I'm use to heavy snowfall and being snowed in..living in Canada. It's still a huge thing to get prepared. And still it's tough with all our experience. For these people with no prior experience it would be incredibly hard and scary
I recall when this happened in Texas in February 2021. As a Canadian, I couldn’t criticize. Last major snow storm we got over 5 feet. I got a shovel and started digging. I dug a path wide enough for my truck that was about 100 yards long. It actually goes pretty fast if your determined.
You'd think that with some of these snow storms the U.S has had this year in unfamiliar places that people would learn to be prepared. Leaving the hospital with a newborn baby in that kind of weather is absolutely ridiculous they should have known to stay inside until its safe to return home. I hope they get help but its just mind-blowing to me that people living in these rural areas want/need help when they put themselves in these environments and now expect other people to risk their lives so they can continue living comfortably.
