    In this video we specifically go through the Alice Camera app in more detail and how to take and share photos.
    This is a pre-production app. We’re still refining and updating many elements such as the UI, UX and performance, but I wanted to give you a sneak peak.
    We go through how the camera functions, the difference between quick mode and pro mode and all the auto controls, where the photo is stored, how easily it is to change settings and how frictionless it is to share content online!

    Nice to read that the Alice Camera Team is still alive! First you guys promised to deliver in April then pushed out to July/August - and no further info up from there. Now I see that at least you are still working on the SW related to that! I must say, that I am very disappointed that you now require the WiFi connection, pretty sure that you promised to use LP Bluetooth initially - this is much lower power for a complete day on the road a significant drawback if WiFi is an always on requirement on my phone. I hope you will manage to get WiFi on and off on the phone while using or not using the camera without a lot of delay (although I do not know how). THE feature I am most interested in is the seamless work with all my M43 lenses - and once again the video doesn't talk about AF functionality and image stabilization!. I am a photographer - I want the Alice as an easy and lightweight addition to my M43 gear. Not interested in Instagram (not even having an account). So please do an update video on where we stand with the Alice HW and how the app will cooperate with my existing lenses. Maybe LP BT would be good enough for photographers?!

    future build hints, iso, shutter, aperture exposure, externally would be best as finger print sliding is meh.

    Can't wait to see this in production! What kind of mount are you intending to use with your system? I am a micro 4/3 user myself, and it would be great if I could use my Olympus lens with this camera.

      Heya, thanks for your comment! You're in luck :) We're using the micro four thirds mounts so you will be able to use your lenses!

    Is there a video about the camera itself? Sensor specs, burst rates, video specs, etc? Thanks. Oh, and what about price?

    I had a similar idea but i was planning to use a digital sensor on a film camera but using a smartphone as the brains of that camera sensor.

    dont you think 1400 euro is too much for this camera? i mean i get it, is cool, but man 1400 euro you can get a sony a73 for that price, with sony behind, not a new team that 50% will be failed in a year or so

      yeah or you can buy a Sony qx1 for 200 second hand which is 90pc of this camera. and it has an aps-c sensor, which is much bigger!

      They don't have the volume to charge less. Especially with the current inflation and chip shortage.

      @HokKan 2 года назад

      @@krishnaanand3413 it's a qx1 with a smaller sensor and more than doubled the price. Those phone mounting cameras never got traction, not sure what makes them think this would. Especially for the price. Wish them the best of luck.

    Is there any chance the app would be able to de-squeeze anamorphic lenses in real time?
    I've really been enjoying shooting anamorphic lenses, and there are some nice ones for micro 4 thirds sensors....or adapting my full frame ones.
    Thank you in advance!!

    I'm sorry but this is just a 2013 Sony QX1 conbined with a camera handle.
    They gaved up QX Series for a reason: WiFi is just too slow and not stable enough compared to wired connection, especially when taking high speed objects and fast compositing.
    And this is the CORE that we photographers wanted handy cameras to solve.
    I really hope Alice can find a way to make wired connection available, or using high bandwidth wireless tech to conquer this issue, such as mmWave or so.

    • @DaveHaynie
      @DaveHaynie 2 года назад

      It's not just a QX1. There's more computational power on the Alice Camera than you'll find on $6,000 DSLRs and MILCs. Two AI processors (last I checked, anyway). The AI + Computational photography is the point, not the fact it uses a phone as the control panel.

    So if the phone connects to the Alice camera via wifi, do you have to use mobile data to do the upload to Instagram? Currently at bodybuilding shows my main tool for fast social media updates is the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Sometimes the venue has next to no mobile reception but has wifi. If the wifi on the iPhone is stuck to the phone in that scenario then this Alice camera will be too impractical to use. If you can connect the phone to the camera with some cable to free up the wifi for fast uploads to Instagram and Facebook then that will be usable. Same issue with live streaming. I would be using the venue’s wifi for the link to RUclips. I can’t have it tied down to the camera.

    Since it is using the same sensor as the BMPCC4k, would video be available in BRAW format as well? This would make an incredible backup to my 3 BMPCC6ks

    I use mft and the in body image stabilization is amazing, might want to rethink digital stabilization. Olympus came out with this type of camera years ago but the connection was buggy thats what killed it, how stable is the connection between the body and the phone. An idea for the future would be to make this camera modular so you can upgrade pieces as tech becomes available.

    Hey there!!! Hoping you'll see this comment to answer a few of my questions. Can this do timelapses? I'm huge into astrophotography and this seems like a REALLY nice option to have. Secondly does this take Panasonic and om/Olympus lenses?

    • @8bittim
      @8bittim 2 года назад

      After reading and watching more on this, most of my questions have since been answered. I will say this. The product overall looks extremely good. However the lack of an lcd screen is a big miss on this. Yes, it's true that you can flip your phone around and voila, you can see the screen when shooting a blog or streaming but now let's say you want to focus on something else briefly....you gotta flip the phone again. It would seemingly get cumbersome. However, with a flip up screen (similar to something on the a6600) you could simply tap a button and switch from a rear view to a front view. I think that would be a worthy addition to the camera. Secondly, the lack of being able to tether the product to the phone via USB c is a miss... what happens if you want to go to a state park, where there is no service? You can't connect your phone to your expensive camera and suddenly it becomes useless because there's no electronic viewfinder (another reason to have an lcd screen). This product overall all though extremely interests me, and I can see myself picking one up, but I would highly recommend taking those two key things into account.

      @DarnelliAir 2 года назад +2

      @@8bittim you don't need service to connect to the camera. The camera uses it's own signal, that your device connects to. Sure you won't be able to share your photos but your camera will work.
      Also, your phone is the LCD. Another one wouldn't make sense. Perhaps making the port your phone attaches to with a hinge, so it can flip up and/or out.

    AI camera... can Alice... remove glares/reflection when you shoot through a glass? e.g. when you go to a museum, Akiba or Nakano, chances are the things you wanna shoot are behind a glass, and the reflection can get a lilo annoying. This would be a killer application for me tho...

  • @assaftoledo7021
    @assaftoledo7021 2 года назад

    It seems like the phone has to be disconnected from the camera wifi in order to share photos. Is that correct? So the photographer has to jump between wifi networks every time he/she wants to share a photo.

    • @ak4good
      @ak4good 2 года назад

      The issue you're describing is exactly what happens now when I use the Panasonic/Olympus app which connects to the WiFi hotspot provided by the Pana/Oly camera body. Hopefully Alice is implementing this the other way around, where the phone provides WiFi to the camera, so the camera would connect to the phone, not the other way around. 🤞
