My oh my...Pier 39, San Francisco, California, 1988. The best and most magical Cirque du Soleil clown ever. This artist was incredible, what a performer. My stomach hurt for days from laughing so hard. Seeing his performance again brought tears to my eyes. I salute and thank you from the bottom of my heart, wherever you are, Denis Lacombe.
Absolutely! I saw this show in Santa Monica in 1987 (or maybe Jan/Feb 1988). He's one of the best clowns. I worked for CDS back in the earl 2000s. It was a great experience.
First saw this as a kid when it premiered on HBO back in the late eighties. These days, any time I hear the 1812 Overture, my thoughts immediately come back to this.
i must reiterate what others have said, thank you so much for posting this. i watched this so many times as a child and it has been well over 15 years since i last saw it. such a nostalgia trip. so great.
This was shown on HBO back in the 80s maybe 90s not sure. Somehow I remembered this couple years ago and started to remember it on occasion. Wow good to see it again. I remember watching this as a kid
Been looking for this. I remember from time to time watching it on HBO back in the day 80s or 90s but i remember. Been looking for it and finally found it. I thought he was clown. Some how i found it. Nostalgia i guess
Like the others below - first saw this in the 1980's, but what's remarkable for us is that I was out for the evening, and one of my daughters happened upon Cirque du Soleil on TV and immediately popped in a blank cassette (VHS) and taped it!
I love muted comedy and not so slap stick I saw it on HBO or something wayyyy back in the day I still laugh !! to this day ! What an amazing performance !
This clip? It's a clip of one of Cirque du Soleil's original performances. Cirque was founded in Quebec and, like the description above states, they literally reinvented the circus.
This was my favorite thing to watch as a kid, I'd watch it over and over and die laughing every time

My sister and I loved this as a kid in the eighties too. My dad recorded it off HBO cause we loved it so much. This and Muppets in Manhattan....lol
Loren Helgeson exact same for me...a human cartoon.. Reminded me of bugs bunny.. He's fascinating
Same here!
This bit was always a standout for me.

The most brilliant clown ever! Merci, monsieur! Un chef d'oeuvre!!!

The man is a genius. there is nothing more to be said.
Super performance du Montréalais Denis Lacombe, qui vit à L.A. depuis de nombreuses années

This is the best act (period) of all time (period), clown or otherwise (period). Thanks SO MUCH for posting this.
It's been aaaaaggggess since I've seen this!! I'm so happy right now! lol I love what Cirque has done, truly.

This was just used as a prank for Bradley Cooper on the Jimmy Fallon show in his “Maestro” promo interview!

He's the ONLY clown in the world that I like! The man is a freaking genius!
the most amzing bit ever !
Brilliant!
This guy is just hilarious!
Fantastic! The most funny musical show I've seen...
A saw this in 1996 in Montraux. He was a bit older than. Funny to see the difference!
I always pictured that the guy that wrote the 1812 symphony would have conducted the finale just like this.
Gotta wonder who preceded Victor Borge en route to this destination. This performer is inspired, on the path!!
2:57 Looks around, “What’s so funny.”
Wow, that would have been fun for me to have used. That was hilarious!
6:21 BURLESQUE!
Funny really funny i like him!!! awesome...
Amazing!!!! How does he do that?? What is the contraption? I assume its a trampoline of some type.
I could tell he’s wearing ski boots. Then maybe skis attached to a trampoline? Great question.
As a kid, I thought this was the funniest thing. As an adult, I can't help but speculate that this dude is really good in bed. 🤣
that part where he struggles with the music reminds me of an old Pink Panther cartoon...
it's called "pink, plunk, plink".
