holy shit, this audience claps at the 2 and the 4 instead of the 1 and the 3. That's awesome! just like Jacob Collier
i would expect nothing less from his fans (:
HOLY CLAP!
I don't think that's a good thing... the music was supposed to be made for everyone but that kind of thing just goes to show that Jacob's songs (which are as innovative as possible) end up being just for a musical elite. I'm a musician and I know the more you learn about music, the less you can appreciate it in its simplicity, so, if most of Jacob's fans are musicians, it just goes to show that they only care about the scientific part of the music and don't care much about the artistic part (I don't know, that's just my point of view, it could be imensally wrong).
@@davifritzen5609 I agree with you to some degree; it's not really his intention, but some of his music can be inaccessible to people who are less familiar with music. But I think songs like Hideaway, In My Room, and even All Night Long (and much more) can be enjoyed purely by feeling.
The complexities of this performance boggles the mind. Jacob is transporting the one man show to dizzying heights. His musical taste and prowess work like he hired. the tastiest funky side men in jazz.If that's not enough add the magical musical 12 voice vocal instrument doing take 6 +6 constant changing chord dissonant and resolve inversions. Now the twisting layered polyrhythms and your brain has been forever changed .Once your exposed to this musical miraculous octopi you will be left in awe.Jacob does not dumb down his listeners, he educates them by showing in realtime how he builds the layers. His is a new breed of hybrids who easily climb musical Mount Everest's wearing swim trunks. His DNA is lit up and acts as a beacon for others to follow.Gone are the singular players multi tasking is the wave sweeping in.Jacob is riding on a hundred foot wave and much higher he can go only the universe knows.
+vonorn Preach brother/sister! BTW how high were you?
I like your description of what he does. All I can say is...mind blowing and as you say, exploring unknown regions.
Eargasm!
Perfectly stated.. I am all of a sudden positive about the human race.. we just got to some how keep up w this kid... Talent hits a target others miss. Genius hits a target others can not see.
Amen brother
I am so blessed to be born in the same era as Jacob Collier
THE WAY HE FADES IT INTO "CLOSE TO YOU" AT THE END..... holy freaking shit, I don't usually use caps but... this is amazing :D
Sometimes emotion must be expressed by shouting it to the rooftops
This concert was mind bogglingly incredible. Once in a lifetime event for me
A real phenomenon. He is going to change music forever.
you know you made it when the audience laughs at how amazing you're playing
Love that guy in the glasses behind Jacob at 7:45... Just shakes his head. I feel ya' man. Geez.
a rare performance of him not wearing his cow shirt
i do like that shirt though!
Yancy Buenavista Asw
This guy's the REAL. DEAL. Added to my other musical heros (R.I.P.): Frank Zappa, MIles Davis & Jimi Hendrix.
I would spontaneously combust if he were to dive into the Zappa or Laura Nyro songbook. I feel like the human species just leapfrogged a couple iterations forward...
3:45 he starts doing the Stevie Wonder moves. :D Fantastic!
There's something magical about seeing a musician who's bigger than the room.
This can't be. What sorcery is that ? Jacob Collier is so amazing
he makes my head spin and nether regions damp. fantastic!
Through the lens of someone who was at this show, and then at his Sept. 29 show at Berklee (and who has been smitten with JC's talent all through the many vids posted before and since), I must say that the shows vary by a great deal, largely due to a loosening of JC's approach and a gradual mastery of the prodigious technical apparatus which he and Ben have erected. Arrangements, though approximately the same, became looser over the summer. This gig was the very first which featured the full complement of machinery and technique which has been in the process of perfection since then. It's great, and complex, in ways that are impossible to fathom unless you can see the whole picture. Only experience can teach a talent like his what needs to be simpified and what can be elaborated. It's a process. I've seen no-one as cabable of getting there as Jacob Collier. Thanks, JC, Ben, and everyone!
It still amazes me how he can record multiple loops after each other without making a mistake.
No. He did not record every track..
But many of them layered on the spot.
He has a bunch of great sample, loop and (probably phenomenal ) memory for organising them - live.
BTW practicing is always the case of magic ;)
@@peteragoston-petrosthemusi8260 I don't think they implied that everything was a live loop
I love that you can hear the keys. Fucking intimate.
Without a shadow of a doubt the most inventive live musical performance I've seen for years. This guy's talent drips from him like a saturated sponge.
Thoroughly mind-blowing. Is one human being truly capable of all this? I am transported to another realm. Keep the music coming Jacob!!!!!!
Extraordinary result, and surprising ideas ,really a perfect and complete artist voice or arrangements.... The Everest for me. thx Jacob i love you musicaly.
This Guy is simply THE new Genius out of this world on music!
Somebody please alert me the next time Jacob is in Cambridge. This is epic. I love my city. Boston! Jacob is a pure genius
Just watched a current video of Jacob answering questions on music theory which was fabulous. Went back to this video today (June 2021) and it still amazes. Jacob is so inventive and playful he just cracks me up. I end up laughing thru most of this video at his amazing harmonies, his preposterous use of timing (he seems able to hear beats the rest of us humans can't comprehend), his multi-instrument proficiency...it's all just too over the top but also inherently joyful. Glad you're still at it Jacob.
Been following him for quite a while. A great jaw-dropping talent to be sure, but the comment that the future won't need bands?...I totally disagree. There will always be the incredible spontaneous interaction of live performance that will never go away and is very special. Musicians will always be around go to 'that place'.
This is a genius of our time. So fearless, so confident...
The only person I know capable of fighting Thanos on his own
I just saw Jacob perform at the London O2 centre. Believe me, his timing was spot on, not that I would have cared, live music is LIVE!! after all. He was brilliant.
this is madness, absolutely amazing
I love the moment he picks up the bass
I think i just died and born again
+Nacho Pozo exactely
+TaKa Xenoy : Christian BERNHEIM France, Montpellier, I am professionnel musicien and I play many instruments, and i sing jazz/soul, and teach singing, and I am known for improvisation really, except Snarky Puppy absolutly fantastic, and their magic singers, (and artist like, Hancock, Corea, Methény, Bobby Mc Ferrin, Al Jarreau, Richard Bona, Raul Midon, Gretchen Parlato, etc...) in this moment, (since a very long time nothing very interesting) Jacob is a revelation, Genius, harmony are so flying, complexe and simple sometimes, and so beautiful and profound, and so spiritual, and so humble, so surprise, The Music is here all the time when he sings and play, at this age, it's amazing and so good for our heart.THANK YOU JACOB Sorry for my English...
+Nacho Pozo Had the same between 0:00 - 2:27 :-) I want an excerpt of this!
I love the part between 0:00 and 11:14
thanks for the MEGA TIPS as well they are Amazing!!
This is like the best live I’ve ever seen, just incredible!
thank you for posting this
You're the real deal man! Pedigree, understanding, passion and chops. When life's thrown you around a bit more you'll have the one thing you can't have before your time, the wisdom to really understand that it's not what you do that touches people's souls and changes the world... its why. If you can find that without the wheels coming off the wagon then you'll have it all. There's no doubt you can and I really hope you do. I'll be following your journey buddy. Good luck!
Unbelievable job JC. Amazing talent....
Thank you for posting such a super cool live performance here. I can't wait for Jacob to come to Japan on a world tour!
No man is an island, except perhaps this guy!

each performance of this song is just slightly different! all of them are dope!! what the hell!
What???? This guy is crazy talented!!!
is amazing.................
The biggest (jazz-)musical talent at the moment. This kid is destined to leave a mark on music. Ever since I found him on RUclips 4 years ago I was a fan. Brilliant and innovative. Love his music!
that outro bassline is everything
That’s my favorite part as well hahahaha
Groove talent inestimable whaou !! du bonheur pur Eidyl
this guy is a freaking prodigy
For every amazing, godlike Video there are some haters giving thumbs down... maybe they just misclicked?
Молодчина! Талант!
Bravoooooo
Wonder Genius!
o loko, esse cara beira a perfeiçao
Favourite bit is 5:45. Epic.
+Oliver Rutherford Agreed. That bass line is killin. The whole concert was mind blowing.
+Oliver Rutherford the way he like briefly debates what to do then lays out an absolutely killin bass line with like 2 seconds of preparation
if only if it was all in time. :/
OK, there is perhaps one riff that's appreciably loose, the last piano bit in the latin, and it's more a balance issue anyway I feel. But have you ever tried live looping? It is incredibly hard, and no-one in the world is doing it on this level. Either you don't know that, or you do, but you're just mean spirited. Jacob takes it in his stride which is the real mark of the pro and he is, as everyone already said, a genius.
I think he was going for every other 32th, but didn't *quite* nail it. but it was close enough. x)
amazing to find this deep cut in 2024 🥲
wow.
Please come to the NYC area
Earth Wind and Fire meets Take 6 and it's only one guy singing! how cool is that
Yo... I can barely clap 👏🏼
Goeeeddddd
WOW
Let's just take a minute to recognise the time a gig like this would take for one man to set up.
The entire concert was amazing
Индиго парень!За гранью совершенства!
I love you
Jesus Christ man! Terrifyingly good!
God dayum I want to know how he's looping that stuff so smoothly...
Dayyyyyyyyyum.
INCOGNITO GENIAL VERSION
Man könnte meinen, Jacob ist eine Reinkarnation von Johann Sebastian Bach. Wer bitte hätte in den letzen 1000 Jahren mit einem Talent solchen Ausmaßes mithalten können. Doch nur Johann Sebastian Bach.
Oookay.. I get it now.
WHAT A FUCKING LEGEND!!!!!!
wow
sakti banget
OMG
Hot damn
Is part of it sampled ahead of time and he's playing along with it? I can't find all the parts that he loops live.
yea same
yeah, there is a backing track that is adjusted for the live performance, if you listen closely you can hear the recorded song behind what hes playing.
@@wtwrush only in certain places like the loud section
I almost give up on music every time I see this guy lol
I don't think I'll ever understand that contraption until I get to play it ever
How do I double like this?
