    Thanks for the review! 😊It does look like a great Bible for the price. If it was priced at the same price point as a Schuyler Bible ($200+), then it definitely would have fallen short, but because it's priced at around $100 it's a great deal.
    It's printed in China, which generally speaking isn't near as high quality as Royal Jongbloed in the Netherlands, but again for $100 it's acceptable.
    At least to my limited knowledge, this seems to be the best quality (more or less) portable single column CSB there is. The best quality CSB is the Schuyler Quentel or the PSQ, but both are double columns, whereas I really prefer single column. However, I suppose if someone is okay with double column, then it might be better to put that $100 toward a Schuyler Quentel or PSQ.

      I would agree, the Schuyler CSBs blow the HHC out of the water and are definitely worth the extra $100 if you can stomach the Quentel typesetting. It's not my favorite layout, so I'm mostly going to stick with my He Reads Truth and Thinline editions for the CSB.

      Recently I switched my preference to double column. I had a steadfast compact large print that I was using instead of my PSQs and the longer I used both the less I used the single column.... if it had bigger *bolder* print and less words per line I think I'd be happier but nobody keeps them 7-10 without chopping up words.

    Nice review bro. My slate copy is in the mail! Not sure what the holdup was but my squeaky email to CBD got the grease 🤭 I did just get my Prussian Blue ESV Heirloom Heritage so I’m going to try not to be too judgy. It’s stunning. Blessings ✝️

      Those evangelical bible exclusives definitely outshine this bible, but the price point is pretty fair for both at least.

      I wish Schuyler released CSB in their Treveris (single coloumn paragraph) or Stridon (single column verse by verse). it would be perfect!!

    Is the paper any different from the leathersoft?

  • @CombatBanana
    @CombatBanana 2 месяца назад

    Got mine yesterday. My gilt is messy as well and mine has the paper thin leather. I wonder how the liner will hold up; it feels like vinyl or something. The text block on mine is very crooked relative to the front cover; overlapping the gilt line on the bottom. In the same order I got an 8 dollar csb and it's gilt is far better 😆 Not good. What's the other csb that you might switch to?

    • @WontonDisciple
      @WontonDisciple  2 месяца назад +1

      I'm sorry to hear about that! I almost commented on the fact that my text block is fitted really well with the cover, almost perfectly even on all sides. It's interesting to see there are still some consistency issues with HHC bibles.
      I'm currently using the brown/black Leathertouch CSB Thinline as my every day carry and the He Reads Truth for at home study.

    Gutter is the only thing I was concerned about. Maybe breaking it in would help. I haven’t bought a csb yet but I prefer a single column because csb seems like a good reader bible. I was between this and I really really liked the CSB vbv. I saw it at Barnes and noble and yet like it was one of the best CSB layouts. Idk I’ll kick it around on this one. It definitely looks better than the leather soft version gutter wise.

      Leather soft version was fixed a while back, and you can do a bit of Bible yoga to open more

    • @bk24708
      @bk24708 Месяц назад

      @@exagem it’s kinda a trade off because on that version the text block is further in the gutter. It was slightly fixed in calfskin edition

    Design wise I would have opted for gray under silver gilding instead of the blue and I personally think some work needs to be done on the layout, it seems too cramped, other than that nice Bible

    • @WontonDisciple
      @WontonDisciple  2 месяца назад +2

      That typesetting leaves a lot to be desired, hence why I say it's serviceable to me...not any more or less than that. Crossway's Heritage most certainly has the leg up when it comes to single column paragraph editions.
      I personally like a subtle red under gold. Gray under silver seems a bit odd to me 😅

      @@ahall3823 I know this is just semantics, but I would consider the Diadem more of a Thinline than a personal size. It is crazy expensive, though.
