Chinchilla only wears the nails when performing, for obvious reasons. They're part of her Chinchilla persona. This was a very stripped back look for her. She's usually completely over-the-top but in a fantastic way! :)

Most on heavy antidepressants and such often describe it like being a ghost. You're there but have no emotions.
Ren went undiagnosed for years with his illness and was prescribed the wrong drugs that made him a different person to the person he his ..the side effects being the cause ,, the new habit is recreational drugs to dumb the side effects .. the chalk outlines are referencing he feels dead inside and outside and floating between the two due to the side effects and recreational drugs to numb the pain

Interesting take on it and that's the beauty of music or art in general, it's subjective and the audience can put whatever interpretation they connect with the most. Chinchilla's first words are 'Setriline and a sip of Serotonin' both given as anti depressants. To me this song is about the effect of psychiatric medication on the person. Walking around in Chalk Outlines refer to how he feels like a zombie/Walking dead when he's on them. "But little by little, bit by bit I push it back down with a new habit If not for long, just for a while I'll bury myself with a great big smile" to me means he's pushing down those awful feelings he is being treated for with this new habit of taking medication, but they only work for a short period of time before he has to take more. The problem is that he doesn't just loose the bad feeling he's fighting, but all the other feelings he has too and therefore 'himself'. Again alluding to being dead inside. In fact the video to me is him strolling through his inner self, looking at memories as he walks down the corridor after taking a pill. At one point you here muffled talking before the first light flash and to me that's the outside world which Ren isn't interacting with, only Ren's 'chalk outline' is there with those people. The real Ren is in this corridor singing. Anyway, that was my interpretation of this beautiful song. Try How to be Me next with both Ren And Chinchilla. Just as mesmerising.

What for me really stands out in this song is the clarity of the vocals and guitar (and the chair open), he is wearing his usual lapel mic (not sure if chinchilla had her own mic as well) but the clarity is just amazing! You guys are right: the singing and playing are so extraordinary, that on 1st viewing it is difficult to absorb the lyrics. But some of the lines grabbed me by the heartstrings.
It's about feeling dead, on medication! Scared to stop taking because you may not be able to survive unless you get a new habit to survive in the world! Well in my head!!!

The feeling goes and you draw a chalk outline" - it's about people who have anxiety or a myriad mental health conditions, who are told if they just take these tablets, then everything will be fine. But the tablets work by dulling your emotions, you are left emotionally flat, not happy, not sad - just numb. Yes you are still alive, but you don't FEEL alive. But because we are humans that don't like talking about this stuff and don't like asking for help, or being perceived to be a burden - we paint a smile on and project to the outside world that everything is fine "I bury myself with a great big smile".
