This is definitely the best recent general guide to flipping that I’ve seen on this platform, awesome job! Even though I’ve been flipping for closer to a year now I still learned a lot of helpful tips from this video.
Really enjoyed your vid as it is informative and insightful. I have built 3 gaming pc's; 2 for my roommate's twins as a belated graduation present and a budget build for myself. I really thinking about getting into PC builds and you have steered me in the right direction. Thank You!!
Hi, just stumbled on this but wanted to say what a great vid, thnx for all the advice. Have parts I've accumulated and was thinking of building a few PC's etc.
@@CasualTechReview Am in the UK, think it's a different market here, parts are more expensive and people want things for less money cause loads of people have very little money. Will just watch your channel for good ideas I might be able to use :)
Great Video! 💯💯💯💯I will use these tips to flip pc's. The only thing I need to practice is how to spray paint. I tried to spray paint my $50 dell optiplex and the case had cracks and it was just crusty lol.
You could also advertise PC building on marketplace just don’t put certain keywords and it will work. I charge 200 per build. No risk on my part just make sure your customer signs a contract legally binding them to the exchange.
I need to start using spreadsheets. I track everything in a word doc on my phone. Thanks for the info! I churn out 500-700 systems to fund my personal system and cost of new games. Always looking to improve
On Two separate occasions I have driven over an hour to fix a PC that I sold.. in both cases I’m pretty sure their errors messed things up, but I want the positive review!
I built an Xbox one pc. It has a Ryzen 5700x, RTX LP 4060, UD A520i, HD Plex 500w PSU, Thermal right LP Cooler. I made a video showing it off, I still have it If you'd want some in depth photos. I wanted to build in an Xbox, but I didn't want an external power brick, nor did I want big WIFI antennas showing out the top. I wanted series x performance in an Xbox one shell.
That's very cool! I saw a video in which a guy put the components of a ps5 and and Xbox into 1 chassis. Crazy what capabilites are out there for the creative!
Thinking about getting into this. I certainly got a lot of old computer parts. I've been building my own computers since the 90's. Making money is important but not the most important thing. even breaking even would be good for me. I'm 76 and just built myself an am5 platform with a 4070 ti super paired with a 7800x3d. 32 gb ram and lots of rbg. To me computer building can be fun but also frustrating when said parts dont work together. Dell, HP ect have so much proprietary hardware🤔
Agree, I don't usually mess with Dell or hp anything. There is a market to upgrade optiplexes and whatnot, it's just not for me. Use pcpartpicker.com to help with compatibility of parts, it's not too bad once you get it figured out. Let me know if I can help!
Yeah I obviously was going to sell him a second one if it worked out, just didn't care for the fact that he lied about it. It's just not how I carry myself.
I flip PCs for a hobby and right now I'm only flipping PCs that is Windows 11 supported due to Windows 10 end of support approaching Oct 14, 2025. I know there are ways to install Windows 11 on unsupported PCs but who knows if Microsoft is gonna block Windows 11 updates down the line for unsupported PCs? Yes there's also Linux but despite some questionable things from Microsoft, Windows is still the industry standard to the average consumer so I rather give them an easier option for them to upgrade to Windows 11 before Windows 10 end of support.
I would say carefully study your local sales market, for what pcs are selling for and what you can potentially buy parts for. Put together a list with projected purchase prices and compare to a realistic sales price. From then it's a decision as to what are you desired margins and comfort in building reliable systems.
Yeah I had an old PC, updated it and sold it for 285 bucks, that was my first flip. Then I went from there! I talk about it in my last video, My First 6 Months Flipping PCs.
It depends also on ram, storage and general aesthetics as well. Plus, your area may have a different market then mine. Generally I think you're ok, but definitely compare your build to one's that have successfully sold around you.
Good question. I download all the updated drivers and software. I don't do Geforce Experience, but I do download the updated Nvidia or AMD drivers. Windows get all the updates, as well as all motherboard and system drivers. Obviously leaving buyers to "fend for themselves" would be very poor.
I create a notepad document and put it on the desktop with all the specific pc components, how to use the software and upgrade windows etc. Good customer service is important.
i guess i just really dont know how to profit or how to determine how much ill make. Obviously i cant buy all brand new parts and make profit, but does profit only happen if you get good deals on the big 3?
Yes, that's usually true. Learning what the value is of individual parts and then trying to acquire them for less is key. That's why I plot out builds in a spreadsheet before, and identify target prices. I would start by looking at a decent looking pc that already sold in your area, and roughly try to copy the specs and see how far below the sale price you can get the parts for. Happy to help you out as much as I can.
@RampageKobe it all depends on your market. In my area, margins are a little slimmer than I've seen in other places. I have to be more conscious of my part prices if I want a decent profit. But yes, my goal is always to pay less than market value for parts. I usually like to let items "marinate" on the market for a week or two, then I reach out with a lower offer. Some take it, some don't. Not overpaying is more important to me.
@friendinneed-00 Never said I was mad about anything. I just don't agree with the way he goes about things or some of the low quality parts used. I've spoken to him and he is a decent guy, just not my style.
How can you tell he is putting new money into it if its possible he started out like you and has just built the business up to have that much cashflow?
He started selling after me, and immediately had like 3 or 4 nice PCs for sale. It's just speculation on my part of course, I just know I couldn't scale that fast without buying a bunch of stuff up front.
@@NdxtremePro for sure, I guess I could have explained that better. It's tough sometimes when making content to remember all the details that the audience doesn't know. Thanks for the feedback, and thanks for watching!
yeah that dude was a clown.. first 3060Ti i bought was for 185 and was an eagle edition card then like 2 months later got a zotac dual fan 3060Ti for 145
@Itsbeausteel he wasn't wrong for generally quoting market price, 3060s are typically around 200. He didn't need to insult and block me though, a simple no would have sufficed.
why did you get mad with that guy. You got paid no harm done. If he is able to buy a pc from you and resell it for more that only means that you can raise a bit your prices and persist.
I surely wasn't mad at all. I just think that's a poor way to misrepresent what you are doing to the seller, me. He stated it was a personal PC when in fact he meant to resell it. I still would have sold him the second one too, even knowing what he did. I just think that's not the way to do business, and therefore he is a clown.
Super helpful thank you
@ma1ek76 great thanks! I've got another video releasing tomorrow for beginning pc flippers, be sure to check it out.

@Lukes-PC-Flips very cool, I will visit your channel as well! I will be doing some videos coming up about how to get started.

Yeah I've started with spray painting stock amd coolers. I'm working up to graphics card backplates and shrouds.
Thanks. Have a ton of PCs around, always thought about flipping. Meeting up part has me nervous but I can be safe about doing that locally.
Yeah you just have to use common sense and trust your instincts. Always meet in a safe location and you shouldn't have too many problems.
Hey man, thanks a lot! I needed this video. I've got 4 motherboards and 5 power supplies... 😶
But most of them were free at least!
Haha, thanks. That sounds like a good problem to have!
TBH I love the messy dirty or horribly cable managed computers cuz you can usually get them for really cheap by talking them down.
@min801232002 absolutely, buying someone's old pc can set you up for a great flip if the price is right.
im from portugal and im doing my first flip in the next week hopefully when all the parts arrive.
Awesome, good luck! Let me know if I can help in any way!
Also also, budgetiers is AWESOME! Definitely check him out.
Wow thanks my friend! YOU are awesome!
@Budgetiers nah, but you are way better tho. Your product value, as he said, is incredible.
I've learned from both of your channels!
@@CasualTechReview thanks!
Plenty of clowns in my area too LOL. Just need to move on from them and most people tend to be way nicer. Great video man!
Much appreciated, thanks! I've met alot of great people selling PCs, by far the majority.

Hey, great guide. But why spend money on a jump switch when you can just use a screwdriver to do the same thing?
They were super cheap, not a big deal.
@CasualTechReview Hmmm. Your choice after all.
@WinstonNicholson yep sure is. I like to have the right tool for the job. Sure a screwdriver works, but that's not what it's intended for.
I'd be happy to sell to someone that is re-selling my PCs. As long as you're getting the price you want, who cares?
Agreed

A lot of folks want a PC but do not want to spend much money, and those PCs typically don't have the hardware that'll support w11.
But that would limit hardware choices, CPU and motherboard.
Thanks a lot, still kinda scared of losing my money tho
