- Supermodel Yasmeen Ghauri, a half Indian -half German star from Quebec who was one of the most visible stars of the early ’90s. Ghauri’s instantly recognizable good looks and Amazonian physique made her a sensation, but her beauty did more than land her a place in ads for Chanel or within the pages of Vogue. Arriving at the end of the ’80s and at the height of fashion’s idealization of blonde-haired, blue-eyed Nordic appeal, Ghauri helped to usher in a more diverse ideal.
Discovered while working at McDonalds-where she was Employee of the Month, no less!-Ghauri defied the objections of her father in order to pursue modeling. Initially deemed too “ethnic” by Canadian casting directors, Ghauri found success abroad, becoming a fixture on the runways of New York, Milan, and Paris before landing a series of bookings that would serve to change fashion. As the first South Asian woman to land a luxury beauty contract, to become a Victoria’s Secret Angel, and to appear on the cover of Vogue, Ghauri didn’t just open doors for the models who would follow her, she broke down barriers. On the catwalk, she became known for her vivacious strut and the distinctive swivel of her hips, but Ghauri’s legacy is more than a killer walk. The New York Times described her runway walk as a "ball-bearing swivel of her hips".
Though she officially retired from modeling back in 1997 to settle into life as a mother, philanthropist, and private citizen, Ghauri’s impact is still felt. With the industry once again embracing diversity and a new generation of multicultural stars rising to prominence, Ghauri stands out as a pioneer. In her absence, only a few other South Asian models have risen; few have landed major beauty contracts, and none have become Victoria’s Secret Angels. Many of the milestones that she hit have yet to be matched. Taking a look back at Ghauri’s career, as we do here, provides a striking overview in how much she accomplished in a relatively short period-and a glance at the wealth of boundaries that have yet to be broken.
Besides the fact that she was and always will be the greatest catwalker in history,she has beautiful speach manner,lovely voice and cute accent too!
She said that the makeup artists and hairdressers make the models look the way they do and she’s right, up to a point. I’ve seen her in the past few years and she looks the same. EXQUISITE. *sigh* The days of amazing glamour.

Hello to all the Yasmeen fans! I’m just replying to a post from a “friend “ of mine from here; BUT, I find myself watching the video of Yasmeen when I pop in to comment or reply to a post! I’m hopefully not the only one who just cannot resist watching Yasmeen in the runway especially a “ compilation “ of different clothes and different designers. I’m not alone in thinking that this lady is truly one of the greatest models of ALL TIME. I mean ; “ that face , that body , that walk, and that intelligent “ open” personality. I just wish I was more familiar with her work when she was in “ her prime” in the 90’s . I’m really happy about one thing; I DID FIND OUT ABOUT HER AND HER WORK AND PICTURES!“ Better Late than

Yasmeen signed it "Yasmeen Love ❤️" , i was so happy that i framed it ! She was the best catwalker, she was élégant inside and out, she wasn't scandalous, out of drugs and love drama. Smart, focused and a Real rôle model for supermodels fans.

Oh boy; I cannot find a comment I JUST posted, including “ 9 key moments in the life of Yasmeen..”, and I dread the fact that the video is part of a larger video bio of Yasmeen and that one is much better. Most of you think it is NOT Yasmeen in the Sacrifice video by Elton John. Quick example: if I went on and on and said” It is not Elton! He doesn’t have blonde hair!” , would you give my comment ANY CREDENCE. Of course not. I get what y’all are saying, but she was 18!! let me explain something sir, I have huge respect for Miss. Ghauri because I'm a woman from same region that her ethnicity is and I know how much of huge challenge it must have been for her to be successful in industry as racist as fashion industry.. I personally think Yes, It was Yasmeen in that video as the official website confirmed it..I won't argue about it. and I think Miss Ghauri herself would complain about it if it was not her before anyone else.. We have a proverb in our language saying:" The bowl is warmer that the soup itself" which describes the situation perfectly.

@@elainep7313 IMO, when you see these videos, she just sparks your interest; and when you’re a fan, well it becomes almost a question of who knows more; I really cannot explain it. But I will say, I can understand this continued “ fascination “ with her. I mean, just look at her. She has that rare quality- the “IT” factor. Plus, since she is no longer in the public eye, which adds an aura of mystery to her. THATS the cherry on the cake.

I am not a “nut” or a fan obsessed with models as way to “ get off “ or fantasize about killing or marrying a model, or whatever.
