It's possible - but conditional formatting, if not managed carefully, can get out of hand quickly and slow down your spreadsheet. It wouldn't be my method of choice in this situation. Thank you for watching!
In general, I use the format painter button. It's a must to know the shortcut keys for selecting but I had to look up the shortcut to make it sound like I know what I'm talking about. Add the band color to the 2nd row of data, select the 1st cell the first row, Shift+Down to select the cell below it, Ctrl+Shift+Right to select the entire row of data (contiguous cells) , Ctrl+C to copy, Ctrl+Shift+End to select all the remaining data, and finally Alt+E,S,C, Enter to paste the formats.
I'm annoyed that this video did not come up on my recommended feed. I'm looking forward to jumping in and checking this video out. Always get a lot of value from your work. Thanks for posting, Mr Tiger Man 🐯
How strange! I was only wondering this morning, 'What's happened to Chris?' I always bear in mind your mantra about columns - multiples of 5! AND I'm learning to use keyboard shortcuts whenever I can. Using the keyboard instead of the rodent is so classy, and it's so much quicker when you've sorted them out!
Steven - great to hear from you and happy I was in your thoughts 🎉 good luck with the keyboard shortcuts and remember we have a video all about keyboard shortcuts in the video description. See you again soon!
@@TigerSpreadsheetSolutionsbut I mean in a quick way , without doing it manually , unless I really did miss it, What I mean is you select your two correctly formatted rows, then alt+H+F+P followed by Ctrl+Shift+down And now all the formatting should be the same
@@TigerSpreadsheetSolutions Agreed, very generic. My biggest problem is usually how to design a good looking dashboard. They have the information needed but they always look strange..

What's your go-to Excel formatting approach? Let me know in the comments! 🔥
It was nice to hear from you again. I loved your video. Informative as always. Thank you.
Thank you Jim - it's good to back and look out for more soon ...
For alternating rows, you can also use conditional formatting

When choosing border colors stay away from any colors you might choose for conditional formatting to highlight certain data conditions.
Solid advice, Geoffrey - always keep an eye on the Conditional Formatting Rules Manager
I think for the alternating rows , just get the first two how you want it , then select them and format paste the others ….
It's a good shout - and I show you how to do this quickly in the video. Thank you for watching!

Why dont you just make it excel table and then convert it back to range for banded rows
Indeed - I mention this option around 07:20 7:25
Ctrl+t
Possible ... but always feels a bit generic
