I admire your approach to your sewing. So pragmatic and organized! I’m a beginner sewist but had good success so far so that’s encouraging. Because I’m a beginner my approach is budget driven, that is I’m using thrifted fabric and notions. This is so my mistakes aren’t costly. I’m slowly building up a lovely stash of silks and special fabrics, but it will be a while before I dare to touch them haha😅 I’m in Texas, it’s hot here a lot too so you have me some good ideas there. I’d love to see a video dedicated to dressing for hot climate! I moved to TX from London 4 years ago so I’m still adjusting to the weather. I still have all these beautiful clothes that I will probably never wear again 😢
Love your approach! That is exactly how I started- less expensive fabrics that I didn't have to worry about messing up and lots of refashioning. I understand that transition to the heat! When I first moved to Florida after living up North (NJ and NYC) it was so hard to figure out what to wear. I would't get rid of anything yet though- you do eventually adapt to the climate. I love the heat now! I'd have a really hard time adjusting to colder weather after all these years. Happy sewing!
Questions about the lavender silk at ca. 16:00: do you pre-wash charmeuse or any woven silks, for that matter? What's the name of the starch stabilizer you like? I'm impressed with the success you've had with slippery fabrics. This might encourage me to try one again. Thanks.
Hi! I do tend to prewash my silks- I don't dry clean anything- so I treat it how I will care for it normally. So prewash on delicate and hang to dry. I don't always pre-treat- but it's so helpful for those really slippery fabrics. It makes it like you're sewing a woven cotton. The stabilizer I use is PerfectSew Wash-Away Fabric Stabilizer (Palmer-Pletsch) that I order from Pamela's Patterns. Happy sewing!
Gorgeous colour palate Rebecca - I too love that lil pop of colour with a foundation of neutrals. I live in Northern Queensland in Australia a generally warm/hot tropical climate not too dissimilar to Florida. I just love your vlogs you are such an inspiration to our community. Just wondering where you find the time to do all your sewing?Lots of love Francesca ❤
Thanks Francesca! I will say, I’m a pretty fast at sewing. I do batch almost all my projects, cutting patterns, fabrics and gathering materials so I can sew during my free time. Happy sewing!
Love the choices of colors and the clothing style! QUESTION- WOULD you mind telling the name of the color box card and where did you get it, this is genius to be able to have a card with color.,,❤❤

You always do great groupings of fabric and patterns :). Looking forward to seeing these as they are made up.

Thanks so much Helen! The Pantone card box is from Amazon. It really comes in handy.
