      When you moved the cristals like that to the new setup yes the big water change killed them. Assuming you didn’t take them, bag them and re drip them until TDS matched. Shrimp and big water change = death

    Shrimp are excellent escape artists. Take care. Especially Amanos. They are excellent climbers: straight up heater cables or filter airlines... and can jump quite far. I had one climb ontop of floating plants and leap up and out... and one pinged out of a net... never made it to the tank rim... but it is surprising the range they manage...

    With shrimp you should only ever drip acclimate 🙈 unless it’s coming from water with the same TDS, PH and all parameters then temp acclimate is just not enough ever. 😫😫

    • @MissGlassButterfly
      @MissGlassButterfly 3 года назад

      @@jonathanfisher7138 in the Video he talked about temp acclimating and then he was like „no I’ll drip them“ so he considered not dripping. And with ornamental shrimp you really need to if the parameters aren’t a match. So likely your breeder and you are both using the same water source. Ornamentals here and in general are fragile. Not dripping if the water isn’t a match = death

  • @Tobias611
    @Tobias611 3 года назад +1

    Hey MD, the clam needs a LOT more water volume than those 30 liters or whatever you offer, a small Corbicula javanicus already needs at least 10 liters, though a good rule of thumb is double that per clam. The big clam should go in at least 200 liters of water that has microparticles floating around, else it might starve. If you don't have anything floating around you won't get around feeding it with spirulina algae.

Your videos inspired me to create my first planted tank (actually my first tank in many, many years) and it's doing beautifully-- tons of plants, one huge peach ramshorn snail named Trailmix, and a handful of gorgeous Platinum guppies! I have shoots of dwarf hairgrass popping up all over the place from the clumps I planted and my El Nino Fern is pupping babies from its leaftips, so I guess it's all going pretty well. But SHRIMP! Oh yeah... time to make a nice globe aquarium and put some shrimp in! Yours are beautiful. Thanks for the inspiration from across the pond, man; I really appreciate it!

      I have kept Khuli loach for many years.This is what I observed. If you want to see them more often, they need to be in groups of at least 6. The tank needs to have a lot of plants, wood etc throughout as they will stay close to cover. Also dimmer lighting helps. Dither fish also help encourage them to come out. Tank mates should be the nano type.

    And yea, I dont think you need to crush the shells for the calcium. Just drop a few in each tank. My rilis have slowly and steadily chipped off a snail shell and it looks kool as if the shrimp are sculpting it to like a mesh look. :)

    Thoughts on adding 1-2 small shrimp to a 3 gal with plants, small nerite, and 1 inch long betta?

    You pronounce the loaches as Koolie loaches. I know the spelling is confusing. They are very neat looking, but just be prepared that as soon as you put them in a tank they will disappear. Especially in a tank with alot of scaping done to it. They will bury in the sand to. Just get a group of them and you might see one occasionally. Oh, they will come out to eat. Mostly. Good luck.😊

    You can cross breed blue tigers with crystal red and black. And make some really cool combinations.

    If you add those kuhli loaches to the big Asian tank you'll probably never see them again :D

    The store bagged the shrimp with nothing to grab onto. Stresses them out. Should always put a plant (cabomba, elodea, etc) or piece of plastic mesh in the bag with shrimp.

    Hey new subscriber! You're the second aquarium channel ive subscribed to. I am absolutely inspired. I also follow Foo the Flowerhorn's channel because I think his no co2, no fets, no filter tanks are freaking awesome to watch progress. On his channel I see him sometimes feeding his shrimp boiled veggies like carrots and sweet pumpkin. Have you considered doing giving that sort of treat to your shrimp? Perhaps that will also encourage them to grow? The calcium snail shell idea is brilliant! I know Foo's channel is always showing his shrimps breeding so perhaps that might help with your shrimp breeding? I mean, you did just get them recently so im sure they need some time to feel comfortable and safe to breed. But. hey i thought id suggest it. I also have seen Foo do this giant almond leaf tea water thing and add it to his tanks. You reminded me of that when you boiled those giant tea leaves. Perhaps cooling the water that the leaves were boiled in and then mixing that water into your tanks would be beneficial as well? I'm not sure if Foo does it. because his tanks are filterless? I honestly know nothing about this stuff but I have been following Foo for a few months now so certain things seem similar to your tanks and his. I am super excited to go backwards on your channel and start from the beginning. I am totally enjoying your videos so far. Very calming and peaceful and inspiring.Oh one last thing lol sorry this is so long. I LOVE your plant tank terrarium thing i cant remember the name. It has the plants attached to the inside wall and it has the double glass doors so you can spritz the plants with water. I cant wait to see what it looks like when you start breeding and do that "sprinkler" rig. I think i want to try to make one at home but with no fish and just the plants. SO COOL!!! much love from New York City! P.S. your kids are beautiful and adorable. you and your lovely wife are truly blessed. Stay say and be well!

    Do you watch marks shrimp tanks and soo shrimp breeders? They helped me a lot with the care requirements of caridina shrimp. They are pretty easy if you set up properly, but they can be very hard without it. To me I think your tanks are not messy enough and they could have lots of leaf litter, shrimp mainly eat biofilm. With neocaridina there's an experimental symbiosis you could try with Marisa snails (shrimps eat the snail poo and support bigger colonies). Anyway good luck!
