Good stuff Randy. I use dye regularly, but one thing to consider is using red dye on soft plastics. I really like the idea of black dye. Have never seen it anywhere.
Thanks Randy. I have bought dyes from your suggestions. Also, I went ahead and bought some Bridgeford Jerky, and like you said it does taste like candy! I have found that if you want to dye denser plastics, like craw pinchers, methiolate does a better job on green pumpkin than orange to get really orange pinchers! Hope this helps.
I always dipped just the tip of my green pumpkin senkos with chartreuse die all the time. One day fishing with my son and he accidentally dropped a purple senko halfway. He put on a clinic and it was the only colour they would touch that day
Good video. I tend to use dyes in a more subtle way. One of my favorite color combos is to tip a white trailer with some blue dye on the tips. This works great on swim jigs.
I use all 3 also , when the pen runs out I have q-tips and I dip em in the jar then brush it on with the q-tip , makes lines very well , agreed making colors on the fly can make you go from having a poor day to a great day
Randy I enjoy your videos keep doing what you are doing I just learned today how to leave a comment I watched your video on the dyes for soft plastic I learned a lot I only had chartreuse in my boat I just ordered some more I am a 66 year old man and I think I forgot to hit the like button thanks for what you do Jimmy
Thanks for the tips on using dies. I have a bunch of white trailers and flipping baits that I'll put your methods in play! Never considered this before!!
Good stuff !!! Here's a little tip . . .take a handfull of q-tips with you and use them as a 'paint-brush' with the dyes . You can do some cool stuff, and the q-tip holds a good little bit of the dye as well. Then just toss the q-tip in the trash when you're done.
Hi Randy, thank you for sharing your secrets about the dyes to use with different styles of baits! Do you already have a video out that shows good jig and trailer combos? I'm not sure what trailers to use with some of the jigs that I have. Thank you again!
Chartreuse dip is the only 1 typically use...really like adding it to green pumpkin trailers & senko type baits tips to mimic bluegills...another thing i like to do is use a black sharpie on the tip of a baby bass, pearl, shad color senko type bait...young of the year bass have that black spot & the stickbaits with that black sharpie tip looks great! I can never find black dye
Black, after all these years I've never thought about Black dyes? I will fix that. A Qtip would make a nice black spot on a spinnerbait skirt. The toothbrush also works on spinnerbait skirts.
Scents and dyes never were part of my arsenal for my part time fishing hobby. But it seems it will help to catch more fish, so I will try to give them a try!!!!
I have used dyes for 30+ yrs. Good video. I am like you in that I use all 3 types and various colors. The trick for the black and chartreuse is one I hadn't thought of but I will be using it for sure.
I just did your black and chartreuse dye/green pumpkin plastic thing on a yamatanuki. It looks so good and that little tipped racoon tail. Forget about it. Thank u sir may i have another? 🙂
Thanks Randy for that information. Chartreuse and orange I use the most but I will get blue also that looks good on green pumpkin. I have been using the brown and purple jig with green pumpkin super chunk Jr.you told me about caught fish on it last Saturday love it can't put it down. Also caught some KY bass on double willow spinnerbait on boat docks which you also shared with me. If you would write a book on bass fishing I would buy the first copy. That was a very important video and I thank for it.
I dipped the tips of the tentacles on a green pumpkin tube bait with orange and caught fish with it. However, with the dyed tube laying next to other tubes in my tackle box, the dye migrated to the others and put dye on them also. Be careful about that,
Would dipping the black n blue in the black die first < let it dry then dip the chartreuse! That should make it stand out better no ? I never dyed before ! Used the spray once ! Not a fan of it !
Thanks for the juice, Randy. Is chartreuse mostly for smallmouth? Where I fish we only have largemouth, and I have gotten the impression that unless it is super muddy then LMB don't really seem to care about chartreuse
Hey Randy, can you fix the trailers before you fish, or does it have to be done in the boat? I live in Northern Kentucky on the Ohio River. This has to be the toughest area in the country to fish. Most jigs and worms do not work.
Y'all are lucky that you can get so many cool products for bass and freshwater. I've never heard of lure dyes for saltwater soft plastics. Now I'm wondering if the scents in bass bait dyes would attract or repell saltwater fish. It probably depends on what they smell like. I'd love to be able to dye the tail of my Slam Shady color (white with a couple glitters) and make it chartreuse. Chartreuse is a great color for saltwater too. I just caught a 27" redfish today on a chartreuse Gulp 4" swimming mullet and 1/4 oz chartreuse jig head, for example. We can buy some soft plastics with chartreuse tails but some people buy baits made for bass to get a chartreuse tail. Now I'm curious how Z Man soft plastics would take dyes. I'm going to experiment with dyes made for bass lures to see if they make a difference on my saltwater baits. Red dye could be really good, and chartreuse is definitely a good color. Pink like a shrimp would be great too.
@@troutheadadventures6521 the dyed will work but what about the scents? I'm not sure redfish want garlic flavored baits. And what about Z Man soft plastics? Elastek is different than Plastisol.
Randy, i know this is off subject, but hiw do we get your jigs? Yiu went tackle warehouse, do u have to order from them, or does bait worx still have them? Ty.
Great video, Randy! I feel guilty I didn't watch the video yesterday... I was just really busy and never caught up on my RUclips vids! I share your frustration with not getting the views you deserved for this video yesterday. My channel is MatitysGetFishing and so much goes into producing videos it is disheartening when you don't even get 1/100 of the views it should. So, not a criticism; but, perhaps an idea for such future videos: maybe try to get the Thumbnail a bit more provocative with a split screen of you holding a monster bass with the dyes and plastics in the other OR even a shot of you holding that black/chartreuse craw in one hand with the white one in the other (image pulled right from the vid). I only make this suggestion because I love what you do and only mention this as an attempt to support you as best I can.
Now there is " You got colors that nobody else has got" argument again. 🙄🙄 So i have several liquids on me that can get messy and/or smelly very quickly when the cap of the container comes undone. Plus i need a pallet of them in several appearances: a pen, an aerosol and a dip 😮😮. Kiss - Kiss - Kiss - Kiss - Kiss
KJV Romans 10:9-10, "9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
Over the years I have made all the colors work beyond proof for me except one! RED, I have not ever improved my catch with red 🤷🏻♀️ red flake yes, 🫣🤨 maybe my water color just isn’t made for it 😒
I put Q-tips in a plastic bags. I use them for my different dyes as a paint brush. It’s a little cleaner this way and you can control it.
Good stuff Randy. I use dye regularly, but one thing to consider is using red dye on soft plastics.

Really good info-I like the q tip "tip" also. Make sure you have a bottle of neutrilizer in your boat it has saved me a couple of times
A very important tool and the learning curve takes some time. Q Tips are a must for some custom on the water patterns. Great video indeed 👌

Thank you Randy!

Black soft plastic dipped in chartreuse gives a nice subtle color

Randy thank you for putting this out. I always need help figuring out if or when an what I should use for color. Thanks again. Glen
Wow! Thank you for this information. I might need to try this out!
I really enjoyed this tip Randy.

Thanks for the tips and tricks. Never too old to learn something new!
I fished in a club and I used chartreuse dye along on watermelon color baits alot.garlic sented it really works in Louisiana verywell
WOW! That was a great video! I learned a bunch from that video
Thanks for the info, I always use dyes , since seeing this video I will start using them with a new twist

Another informative video. I don’t fish soft plastics very much, but you answered a question for me about hard baits. Thanks!
I just did your black and chartreuse dye/green pumpkin plastic thing on a yamatanuki. It looks so good and that little tipped racoon tail. Forget about it. Thank u sir may i have another? 🙂
Great video Randy, I missed this yesterday but still it's a great video. I enjoy the tips on catching bigger and more bass!
I use dyes a lot as well. I have six different colors of dyes in my kayak crate. I stick to the bottled versions though.
Thanks Randy for that information. Chartreuse and orange I use the most but I will get blue also that looks good on green pumpkin. You ever modify a crankbait with maybe chartreuse butt end? Or any color with paint...
I dipped the tips of the tentacles on a green pumpkin tube bait with orange and caught fish with it.
However, with the dyed tube laying next to other tubes in my tackle box, the dye migrated to the others and put dye on them also. Be careful about that,
Do the dye dips dry quickly? Thank you for taking the time to make this video!

Catchin up on your videos, this is some great information and it is appreciated!! Thanks for presenting this to us Randy!
Thank you, Eric
What's the large orange dip? Do you use the blade dip on soft lures?
Thanks for the juice, Randy. Is chartreuse mostly for smallmouth? Where I fish we only have largemouth, and I have gotten the impression that unless it is super muddy then LMB don't really seem to care about chartreuse
Thanks for information
Do you ever paint the trailers or do you just dip them and hope for the best?
Do the dyed trailers bleed on other plastics if you change or store them?

The dyes come in other scents. Good question about the Zman stuff. I will have to try it out.
The description mentioned “scent” but I did not hear you speak about it. What scents are you using?
Great video as always. I’m a big dip it fan. Any preference on flavor garlic ect??
Garlic!
Excellent knowledge thank you 🙏🏻
Randy good stuff. What’s your take on dyes with sent ? Like JJs?
How about pink dye Randy? That color has really been catching fish in the river here.
Great video
Thanks 👍

I really wish the chartreuse Spike It marker was more yellow and less green...
🤔?
I’m inspired.
I dunno that black dipped in chartreuse don’t look terrible lol
I’m with you. Randy does not seem to like baby poop green lol

Sounds like someone has a case of RBS
I'm here because I got scolded
KJV Romans 10:9-10, "9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Not that important unless it builds your confidence in the lures.
