What if one has multiple accounts, with the total amount in all accounts exceeding 100k? I mean Is the $100k capped?

No it’s $100k per account at each member bank. So if you have $100k on chequing and $100k in saving account you’re covered up to $200k. TFSA and other registered accounts are also considered seperate accounts
