I used to live in Nordrhein-Westfalen for several years. Here are several railways I found very interesting there. Hope you have fun in your journeys if you visit them! - Surrounding-Aachen local train: “RB20” line going on Aachen - Alsdorf - Stolberg loop + line to Düren (in which the section in Eschweiler is not the same as the main Aachen - Cologne line) + branch in Stolberg. - 2 local lines starting in Düren: the “Rurtalbahn”. Single carriage diesel trains to Linnich and to Heimbach (Eifel national park) in the Rur valley. - Line 16 and Line 18 connecting Cologne-Bonn: intercity trams. (Also intercity trams are common in Ruhrgebiet, but there you normally see only built-up areas.) - Railways on both side of the Rhine: Cologne - Bonn - Koblenz - Mainz. Very beautiful Rhine valley and impressive infrastructure. - “Drachenfels” cogwheel railway in Königswinter. - Tramline 66 from Siegburg/Bonn to Bonn center. Then it continues to the southeast to Bad Honnef (southern most station in NRW) in the beautiful Rhine valley. Definitely the best tramline in NRW. - S8 Wuppertal - Hagen section, S9 Wuppertal - Essen section, and S6 Düsseldorf - Essen section: scenic local transport through industrial heritages in hills and valleys. - Railways around Arnsberg as well as RB25 line from Cologne: through the hilly regions in southeast NRW. - Dual-gauge tram lines in Krefeld. - Dortmund H-bahn: suspension railway transport in campus. - Eisenbahnmuseum Bochum with steam train. - Selfkantbahn: steam train in Geilenkirchen.

Thank you for a brilliant, informative film. I'm hoping to travel from the UK to the Netherlands, spending a few days riding the NS rail network and on one day in particular, travel over the border, to Wuppertal to ride the Schwebebahn from Vohwinkel to Oberbarmen and back. Your film was so helpful, showing the stations in detail. It's put me at ease when I am finally able to do this journey. Thank you so much
Good trip report my favourite parts were sewing the ultramodern wuppertal HBF very bright and airy and also the scheweebahn which is amazing still seems bizzare to me how they have upside down tracks and the monorail train running perfectly elevated above ground 😊👍🚉
Thanks for the video! I live in Krefeld and often take the RE13 from Viersen to Venlo and back again, in summer I worked in Zeeland (Domburg) and travelled via RE13 and Venlo. I also still know the old trains from DB and in the 90s there were express trains between Mönchengladbach and Venlo from NS (Nederlandse Spoorwegen) with an only stop in Viersen and no stops in Dülken, Boisheim, Breyell or Kaldenkirchen. Hartelijk bedankt! In de toekomst (waarschijnlijk 2025/26) wordt de RE13 van Venlo naar Eindhoven verlengt, ik ben benieuwd!

This is definitely an improvement but with the society changing to being more and more digital having mo wifi and power plugs makes these trains already feel a bit older than they really are. There where also plans to extend this line to the Hague (my home town) but they Will stick with the station of Eindhoven now I guess.
@@Trainviking I'd love to see a train from the Hague to Germany via Venlo, kind of like the old days with the the Hague-Venlo train instead of the Schiphol/Dordrecht train. Would definitely make travelling easier for me between "home home" (as the parental home is often called amongst students here) and my student room in Tilburg.
@@Trainviking Yeah. There are lines to Dortmund, to Münster, to Hagen, to Paderborn - Kassel and finaly to Bielefeld - Hannover for passenger and freight trains. The line to Oberhausen via the northern ruhr area (Bergkamen, Herten) is normaly for freight trains only

I have tecorded this already but i still need to edit that video. I did some awesome drone shots in that video, i went with the drone through the bridge (that's obviously not in use before other peolle think you can just do this). That's going to be a very political video (i try to keep it friendly). But since I recently did a trip report on more or less the same trains, I will wait a bit before I upload it (same thing for the Enschede- Dortmund train, because i already have a video on the Münster- Enschede route, what are the same trains).

For venlo there is an bus that does to Kaldenkirchen am Schwimbad in Germany its line 2

The Marschbahn from Hamburg to Westerland is pretty nice especially in an Intercity because they still use the Br 218.
Interesting how there were no busses from Venlo to Germany when you were there. Usually there is a bus service to Kaldenkirchen from Venlo.

Could you do a tripreport on the RE2 line Frankfurt -> Koblenz. Itˋs one of the most scenic routes in Germany.
