One awesome RUclips channel giving props and acknowledging another?! Love it!! Everyone check out Joe Hanson's channel - it's just as good as CC, it's just a different flavor. The more content the better, thank goodness for both of these great channels
Imagine after some 1000's of years people watching this video with subtitles and laughing at us, how much, yet how little we knew about our own solar system. btw best video i'v ever seen
This is great work! A video or two like this for the major learning series would greatly increase the immersion in learning. Such applications of technology are difficult, but when used for education the effort is worth it! Great job, Thought Café!
It was also hilarious how you also added random things floating around in space (including a Crash Course astronaut and what looked like a paper airplane)!
Thank you so much, I've loved watching all these episodes and will probably watch a couple of episodes again. You guys have probably the most fun/educational channel on youtube! Thank you again, Phil Plait and all your team!
+Fahad Assaf In my opinion, they could have made more out of the 360 video. One did not gain any new information by turning. College Humor made a brilliant example of a 360 video. If you did not turn your sight, you would have believed mike his story, beacause it was fully convincing, as long as you only watched him, as he told you in the beginning. If you however decided to watch the rebell and watch the Background your view was not only very interesting and funny, it also revieled that he was a liar. people seemed friendly and normal and friendly or creepy and strange depending on your actions.
I had no idea RUclips could even do this! This is amazing! My mind is blown. It even works on mobile with tilt controls! Keep up the awesome work. Interactive utilities like this are invaluable to our youth and truly anyone wanting to learn.
Woahh. Did anyone else just stare at the sun blankly and wonder if anything was going to happen, and then proceeded to be absolutely mindblown when you figured it out?
So many Easter eggs in this video. I saw the TARDIS, Rick and Morty's ship, the Ship of the Imagination from Cosmos, Helios's chariot, Lumpy Space Princess, the Silver Surfer, the Planet Express ship from Futurama, multiple Star Wars ships, and someone in a spacesuit. Did I miss anything?
I was watching while standing in my room in the dark on my iPad and moving around with the video, subconsciously following along. When it was over I went to sit down on my bed and almost fell down on the floor (luckily I caught myself). My bed seemed to have moved, and the illusion persisted for a bit. That's how engrossing this was, I loved it, it was worth the stumble. :)
+emptyskullify We optimized the viewing area for CardBoard so more people could experience it or teachers could share it in class rooms. Glad you got to experience that!
So I saw a lot of spaceships, some astronauts (probably Hank or Phil), silver surfer, star destroyer, TARDIS, lumpy space princess, USS Enterprise, Cosmos' spaceship of imagination, Greek mythical chariot of the sun (presumably rode by Helios or his son, Phaethon), UFO, and I think that's almost it! Tell me if I miss something!
+Polyvinyl Films Go watch some of go-pro's 360 videos ( or by the use of this shameless plug, watch a minecraft one at "Smithboysgaming minecraft server preview"
+TheLineCutter Fort Minors recent music video used it as well, College humor has an office tour with this sort of video, there are many on youtube, it just requires a fancy camera. Very good with VR sets
+TheLineCutter It's not that special. Imagine a hires video where you are zoomed into a small part. That's what you see and also why you have such poor resolution even though you have selected "HD". The only thing that's really different from a simple zoomed in video is that there is distortion added while displaying to give the effect of looking around and not just panning.
If you flatten the video out, it'd be in 1080p. The "s" is basically saying "in 360 video mode" but directly means "spherical". It's taking a normal 1080p video (that wouldn't look very normal at that point) and stretching it in a sphere around a point that the video allows you to "look around" in.
Thank you for this series. I just finished the whole thing. Loved every single one of the videos. It's a gift that a channel and content like this exist in the world!
So far I spotted: the Planet Express space ship, Apollo, a CC astronaut, another astronaut with glasses (Phil?), a purple creature, the Tardis, Silver Surfer I assume, an imperial star destroyer, a weird space ship with two guys and an oblong thing (a satellite?) near Neptune. Any hint?
WOWWWW THIS is exactly you guys deserve all the patreon money and sponsorships you can get! you create the most well thought and amazingly designed content on youtube BRAVO! and thanks! please do more of these! all the hugs from Chile!
+HE NEED SOME MILK When watching 360 video you pretty much have to pick 4K(2160P) if you want good quality or the video will look like shit. 1080p is not really 1080p when the video is spherical. However most people's computers can't handle 4K or their internet is not fast enough, so they will have a shitty experience. Also the best way to watch these videos is on your phone.
+karthik11512 Actually what you mean to say is 1080p is not equal to 1080s so you have to use 2160s to get comparable quality to 1080p. It's because the stream is much larger in canvas area if you imagine it flattened out
You mean, it's got the right way of measuring stuff, in scientifically accurate SI units instead of an old outdated imperial system. Why do some Americans think that the world revolves around em?
I loved all of the characters flying by, but I especially enjoyed Silver Surfer and TARDIS because I absolutely love Doctor Who and Marvel Comics :) Thanks for adding them in!
Well that's it. I've watched all 47 episodes. I actually just did my first optically assisted observations last night and seen Mars clearly through my telescope. I also observed some blue giants, and plan on observing the Orion cloud tonight. Thanks for everything Phil, this was a very good series and I enjoyed it every step of the way. Cheers and good luck to all.
Sooooooo coooooooool I'm basically an astronaut now. Thanks guys!
Looks like you've been beaten this time. TAKE YOUR GLORY!
+It's Okay To Be Smart But you need a contact lens because Astronaut can't wear glasses in space ;)
One awesome RUclips channel giving props and acknowledging another?! Love it!! Everyone check out Joe Hanson's channel - it's just as good as CC, it's just a different flavor. The more content the better, thank goodness for both of these great channels
It's Okay To Be Smart i
You can’t just be an astronaut that fast
Imagine after some 1000's of years people watching this video with subtitles and laughing at us, how much, yet how little we knew about our own solar system. btw best video i'v ever seen
We loved making this video! We're happy to see so many of you enjoying it!
You did an amazing job! Thank you!!
+Thought Café easter eggs were much more interesting than the main topic.
What sorcery is this!? Burn the witches! ... After they do one for the Milky Way...and maybe the larger galactic neighborhood, too...
This is great work! A video or two like this for the major learning series would greatly increase the immersion in learning. Such applications of technology are difficult, but when used for education the effort is worth it!
Great job, Thought Café!
I loved all of the little details (LSP, Tardis, etc.)
Hands down the coolest video i've ever seen on RUclips.
Hands up squirrel, I wiill eat cereal for dinner because you are under arrest

+Playstation Newbie that is great idea
+xenoblad the mongols!
It was also hilarious how you also added random things floating around in space (including a Crash Course astronaut and what looked like a paper airplane)!
I didn't know you could move around the video with your finger. I was walking around my room in a slow circle
LoL me too
thanks to you, i recognized that can move around with finger. haha
THANK YOU!!!
Oh sure, NOW you tell me...
I was on the toilet when this came up in my feed, so I sat for five minutes turning around gradually while trying to poo :P
this video is basically the proof of concept for all 360 videos to be used as educational tools. Well done thoughtcafe!
Guys make sure to give them a like!!!! It probably took weeks to make this!
+TehGoldenFox Fox more like months ;)
+Nick Counter more like years
+Edwin Cuellar (Food) more like decades
Agreed
Nah. I think them using my money to make this will suffice.
Thank you so much, I've loved watching all these episodes and will probably watch a couple of episodes again. You guys have probably the most fun/educational channel on youtube! Thank you again, Phil Plait and all your team!
one of the most creative and cool video ever exist
Most agreed!

+Symbiotic Coherence which video are you referencing? (I only just now realized that the RUclips app had this function)
I love this 360 interactive video!!
I had no idea RUclips could even do this! This is amazing! My mind is blown. It even works on mobile with tilt controls! Keep up the awesome work. Interactive utilities like this are invaluable to our youth and truly anyone wanting to learn.
lumpy space princess, the tardis and a character in an astronaut suit are floating around. 😂
+Jaden Smith and the Ship of Imagination from the Cosmos reboot.
+Jaden Smith there was also a Star Destroyer near Mars at one point
+Jaden Smith also the ship from futurama
+Jaden Smith Rick and Morty were there too!
+Jaden Smith I also noticed a Base Star near Pluto at the end of the video.
It took half a video for me to grasp the concept of a 360 deg video (I just woke up) but anyways this is AMAZING
Spent the first half of the video just listening to him without realizing you could move it around.
DID ANYONE SEE LUMPY SPACE PRINCES AT 4:09
hahaha
Post Water-Malone we
Wow
Justin Pang oh my glorb
what
At 2:53, is that the Silver Surfer?
w/c angle?
+Physics Videos by Eugene Khutoryansky Don't forget the star destroyer at 2:46 near mercury.
+Physics Videos by Eugene Khutoryansky it was rick and morty
+alex vargas No? Rick and Morty show up at 0:51. That was the silver surfer.
+Klein Fletchers a question i thought i would never hear when watching a video
this video should have a billion views.
Very cool! I didn't know the Purple People Eater was a Belter.
+sgirardacus7 Thats lumpy space princes from adventure time
+sgirardacus7 It's Lumpy Space Princess from adventure time
+sgirardacus7 not many people are old enough to understand that joke...i only get it because I'm a Vikings fan.
Woahh. Did anyone else just stare at the sun blankly and wonder if anything was going to happen, and then proceeded to be absolutely mindblown when you figured it out?

This is the coolest thing I've ever seen
This channel has helped me a lot as a student! Got an A for my astronomy class last semester. Thank y'all so much and keep it up!
The fact that we have the tech to do this is awesome.
"Doobly Doo" always makes me crack up, no matter how serious the context is.
I was watching while standing in my room in the dark on my iPad and moving around with the video, subconsciously following along. When it was over I went to sit down on my bed and almost fell down on the floor (luckily I caught myself). My bed seemed to have moved, and the illusion persisted for a bit. Wow... I have the google cardboard and its freaking Amazing!!!! KEEP IT UP!!! :D
+emptyskullify We optimized the viewing area for CardBoard so more people could experience it or teachers could share it in class rooms. Glad you got to experience that!
This is the greatest thing to exist on youtube.
THAT IS THE BEST THING I EVER SAW IN MY LIFE
I caught a raindeer or something running over the sun. Nice touch!
+Kim Philipp Möllgaard actually its Helios and his chariot, from the old Greek myth

It's been possible for quite some time actually...
+Polyvinyl Films Go watch some of go-pro's 360 videos ( or by the use of this shameless plug, watch a minecraft one at "Smithboysgaming minecraft server preview"
Best 360 animation I’ve ever seen of the solar system
At the mars part its the TARDIS if you look at the sun
Why would you look at the sun? You'd go blind...
No.
+Deathcap Rabadon (Deathcap9087)
There was also another part where I saw Hank (I think) in a space suit.
There's also a teapot that floats between Earth and Mars at one point.
+Deathcap Rabadon (Deathcap9087) Lumpy Space Princess sighted.
This is so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was SO COOL. I definitely didn't realize I could click & drag until Venus...
I CAN TRULY SAY THIS WAS THE COOLEST VIDEO I HAVE EVER SEEN.
THIS IS AMAZING!!! So interactive and cool
THIS IS THE COOLEST VIDEO OF ALL TIME!
What kind of video type is this? Where things are pre-rendered and you can rotate the camera? Never seen this before??
+TheLineCutter 360 video, been here for a long time already.
+TheLineCutter it's been possible since sometime last year but I've only seen one other video where it's done.
+TheLineCutter Fort Minors recent music video used it as well, College humor has an office tour with this sort of video, there are many on youtube, it just requires a fancy camera. Very good with VR sets

This is wonderful. Thank you all for the hard work put in to making this. (Psalm 19).
MAN!!!!!!!!!! this is so goood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!sharing it with everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So if the "p" in 1080p means "progressive scan", what does "s" stand for?
+Ganaram Inukshuk Spherical. Basic purpose is for 360 videos like this.

Any hint?

I love all the little easter eggs floating around. It's a nice touch.
Did anyone else have bad quality?

Please don't end this series , Mr. Plait
Neptune is the last planet.. For now.
I'm currently having a sick day…but I just got a tour of the solar system from my room! Awesome!
I'll be back when i'm high
So maany easter eggs! The TARDIS, the Enterprise, Rick and Morty! Thank you for creating this amazing and wonderful video!
This seems to be very biassed toward foreingners, can you do an American version please, thanks buddy!
David What do you mean? What would an American version be like?
You mean, it's got the right way of measuring stuff, in scientifically accurate SI units instead of an old outdated imperial system. Why do some Americans think that the world revolves around em?
americocentrism :-)
You guys are more than awesome. Thank you soo much !
Best. Video. Ever!!!!!!!!
There is nothing more true than what you said. In science, there is always something new to learn.
I loved all of the characters flying by, but I especially enjoyed Silver Surfer and TARDIS because I absolutely love Doctor Who and Marvel Comics :) Thanks for adding them in!
echoy voice effect really made this experience work. subtle, but well done.
Best use of 360 I've seen :)
I was excited just have Phil do another video. As soon as I saw I could move it, I ran down two sets of stairs to show my husband.
Space is so, so co-oo-oo-oo-ool. So coo-oo-oo-oo-ol. so cool!!!
The Solar System is all the planets organised in a ring with their collective barycentre directly above the sun, thanks Phil :P
This video is amazing. I never like any videos but I couldn't resist. Had to give this one a like. Love you Crash Course!
That's so cool. I have seen 360 degrees videos before but this is the coolest.
Thought Cafe Bravo! This was so cool!
the best 360 video I've seen
