Thanks for the review! One little tip for improving your videos: i suggest you to buy a lavalier microphone to get clear recordings of your voice, because sometimes the eco in your room can be a little bit annoying!
I've been looking forward to you review and it's really interesting as always. Thanks for taking the time and putting in the effort. Personal thought on my Phrozen 4K vs. 8K - the biggest difference to me was how much smoother the prints are. The improvement in details is also there but not as obvious as the smoother surfaces.
Something I've been wondering for a while: why don't companies put a handle on top of the UV cover/lid for their printers to make it easier to handle, especially with wet gloves?
Awesome. Them giving you that printer for free is one of the best marketing decisions they could make lol. So next video, it's time to do some tests with all the different non-8k resins! I'd still love to see you do a 2022 Resin Wrap-up covering all the resins out there, or perhaps all the ones you have on hand. I'm using "Eco-resins" for the easy cleanup and even between brands and colors there's a big difference in end experience. Thanks again for the great video!
Thanks Greg! I was holding off on buying this printer until I saw your review. I got my Sonic Mini 4k through your last Kickstarter so fingers crossed you can work something out with Phrozen for your next one. I will definitely be backing it regardless!
Nice review. I can’t wait for mine to arrive. Can you please share your settings if you printed any minis at at .02 to .03 layer height with the 8k resin.
Finally Now you are in! Domestic printer with pro quality Just waiting for a Mighty cause to have use some small sized and and you have tasted a big one it's "le jour et la nuit" I know that there is a Transform but not deep enough and for a big amount of money. Thank you Greg for this review.
I took a gamble preordering this machine and I can't wait to get my hands on it. The build quality looks awesome and the 8k screen should be a massive upgrade from my 2k X1-K. Hopefully Phrozen doesn't make me regret moving away from Epax.
Thanks a lot for the review, much appreciated as always Do you think you might get a chance yo test the 8K resin on a 4K printer as well to compare the results for that one too? As well as show us a comparison of prints on tue SM8K done by their 8K resin and other resins?
I just pre-ordered an Anycubic Mono X 6k becuase I want to do some mass army printing on a larger faster printing plate but I may have to pick one of these up next summer.. I'm stuck between this or a DLP printer which is why I didn't snag this on pre-order so I can see some real world reviews and criticism between the two.
Can you talk a bit about how to use the "screen clean function"? Not too familiar with that. Also-- with Phrozen, how often do you find yourself relevelling the buildplate? I'm coming from Epax so I've never had to consider these features
Kinda wish the screen was a 10.1" size otherwise it'd be perfect for me. 👍 Rather curious where they're getting that long and narrow screen from; it's an unusual dimension for an 8K.
I'm waiting for the Mighty 8k. The build plate of the mighty with the resolution of the mini4k. I e-mailed them and Phrozen said there is one in the works. --Ohh! but with a discount.... Thanks!
For typical 25mm tabletop miniature printing do you still think this is the best for the job? When do you think that we will be able to buy this printer as well?
Thanks for the review! I'm glad to hear the machine is as good as it looks. Have you done any drop tests with the new 8k resin? Do you find it do be as brittle as Epax Hard?
Thanks for the great overview! I am planning on picking one of these up... With that said, could you please do us (the audience) favor? For the love of all things holy, please add a wireless microphone to your setup. Right now your audio is so bad that it's hard to listen to. Maybe the Rode Wireless GO II or the new DJI Mic? Cheers, Greg
Thank you so much for the thorough reviews Greg, they really help out the community! Who makes the sick monk sculpt with the DBZ hair? I'd love to get that on my painting table!
great machine I will definitely order one. But I would like to ask your opinion about mid size printers since you have many hours of experience with them. I am stuck between Halot Sky and Mighty 4K.. Sky is $400 more expensive. I wish to print some statues that I modeled like superhero characters. I wish to have your opinion about these two.. which one would you choose and why? Thanks !
@@3dprintingpro212 unfortunately saturn is not available in Turkey, yet its the most recommended 😅 My only concern about Mighty 4K was with plastic Vat and bottom part that might get stained or cracked in time. thanks Greg 👍🏻
It should, but it won't work better than any other resin I don't think, it's made to print smaller in theory, so printing at a lower resolution (bigger pixel) it wouldn't have any advantage :)
@@3dprintingpro212 Does this 8K eliminate the layer lines enough to not see them, especially on bigger figures like 54mm and 75mm and smooth and rounded surfaces like muscles, armor etc.? Most reviews only show small scale figures, it is hard to tell :) . I have the Mars 3 by the way, Thanks!
@@3dprintingpro212 That will be very helpful. I'm using Lychee now, and there are several versions of AA (percentage, grey offset etc.), I don't quite understand them yet, so I will wait for your video with interest :). Regards!
So of all the printers you've tested so far, which would you say is the best under $250? I know the original sonic mini blew you away, have you had others?
Only suggestion I have for your videos....your audio is terrible. Using a pin on microphone on your shirt or a microphone on boom with pop filter is needed.
I still don't believe phrozen will build something without flaws. My experience with Phrozen Sonic mini 4k was totally awful - machine is literally suck compare to any 4k competitor and engineering design was the poorest on the market. The support didn't help me at all. So, I will buy any other 8k machine but not this brand!
Im super keen to hear your settings, like exposure, for the different layer heights for the 8k resin on this printer.
Been waiting for your review to decide whether or not to keep my order. Music to my ears these prints look so crisp!
Already have one on the way.
Very glad to have you confirm it was a good move.
Gonna be a BIG upgrade from my OG photon. Can't wait for it to arrive!

I always love the opening unboxing shots. There's so much less dropping things and falling over stuff when your wife does it than when I do it :)
She started after I fat fingered a few pieces badly lol, she drops now and then but less than me!

Great stuff friend 👏 👍
I would love to see some prints of some Mechs and other minis or vehicles with hard and flat surfaces printed on the 8K.

Looking forward to getting one at some point. I missed the promo period.
why do you use two different resins for "comparison" Ofcourse they will look different. seems a bit odd.
these look so much better than even injection molded at this point
I got one after your vid thanks.
Thank you for the review! my biggest question... what is that turtle priest mini??? That dude is awesome!!
From my upcoming KS, link is in the description, would love your support! :)
Can you please cover the importance or lack of , drain holes for hollow prints ?
awwww man i love this printer already, i have got one of the early bird bundels and it will be here mid to end january at its best.... :D

Which lcd printer is good for jewellery ?
And which castable resin with less shrinking is good?
Plz suggest
From india
very awkward aspect ratio on the build plate. perfectly fine for mini's but just wish it was 20-30mm wider
Damn! Now I'm sorry I didn't pick up a bundle with more resin!
Does it take much longer to slice the files? Are the files much bigger?

how good is the esun resin working with this printer?
How does this compare to the saturn 2 8k?

Loved the 4k. Probably don't NEED an 8k. But...
Coming up April 1st, 2022 video - Sonic Mini 64K resin printer review...
a man manhandling a printer from a fixed camera angle: the perfect review
Now they need to make a MIGHTY 8K!

So you like that 8K resin better than Epax Hard or AMD-3, how brittle is, has it some flex for thinner detail? Thanks!
1:04 - Ta-dah!
Not sure if the results are worth more than twice the price. You can get great 4K printers for $250 and this 8K one is $600.
So of all the printers you've tested so far, which would you say is the best under $250? I know the original sonic mini blew you away, have you had others?
Buyer beware! these might have brittle LCD's. Mine chipped on the first failed print and phrozen is refusing to file a warrantee claim for it.
well there be a 9k or maybe AK lol
Nice printer, shame you can't buy one
So... How 'bout that Mars 3? 🤣
Mars 3 still good, but this is better! :)
There will be Mars 3 DLP also ;)
"best printer" or best print QUALITY printer? :)
best pritner imo, the machine itself is just done so right, but yes also best print quality
Is it an encrypted chitu board?
no, it works with Lychee!
