Have 2 and 3. Both stay in ear perfectly for me but I find the 3’s are a bit too snug resulting in slight discomfort. 2s are more comfortable. The sound quality is improved on the 3s but not drastically so. The battery on the 3s are much better but I think it’s because my battery has degraded over the near 2 years of heavy use on the 2’s. All in all I think both are great buys. AirPods are a must for me.

Personally me if I were deciding I’d 100% get the 2nd gen as they don’t make your ears feel like they want to bleed. I dont even notice im wearing my airpods 2 either and the in ear type earphones like pros always fall out on me after a while but these stay in place. the 2's were perfection and worth every $
Apple screwed up the airpods 3. They made them larger. Airpods 1 and 2 fitted great, never fell off. I could jog, eat food and they stayed in place. With airpods 3, you tilt the head to the side, they fall off. If you open your mouth too much or chew food, they fall off. Apple should have kept the diameter of the airpods 3 the same. All those improvements mean nothing if the airpods 3 cannot stay in your ear.
Apple is falling off. They used to be the best company when it came to stuff like this. They shouldn’t have released the 3. They should have kept the 3 the same size and shape as the 2 for sure.

I just bought an airpod 3 coz my airpod 2 just cuts midway conversation and my warranty already ran out. The fit feels a bit bulkier to the ear at first if you’re used to the gen 2 but u get used to it in a while. As for the sound quality, gen 3 is waaay better!! I used “Sowing the Seeds of Love” by Tears for Fears as a test and the intro is awesome in the 3rd gen!
So my wife is always asking to use my AirPods while we are at our desks in our office, I’m gonna order a set of these and leave it in her drawer for next time she asks. It’ll be a good surprise. Thank you for such an informative video! (I’m still rocking the AirPod 2’s)
Thank you for mentioning the ear size! I lost my AirPods 2 and saw that there is a 3. However my ears are so small I had to sell my AirPods Pro because it would not stay in my ears.
I want to buy some airpods for my iPhone 11. I will be using them for phone calls and listening to music. In my country, I can get gen 2 airpods for 120€ and gen 3 airpods for 199€. I neither care about the sweat and water resistance nor about the slightly improved sound quality, although I would prefer the bigger battery that gen 3 airpods offer. What do you suggest? e.g. My ears are a bit small so the gen 2 will probably be more comfortable for me.
I have super small ear canals and I have air pods 2. I’ve never gotten the pros because of my baby ear situation. Do you think that the 3 will fall out of my ears like the pros???
Instead of EU forcing Apple to adopt the USB-C, they should make laws where you can test either products on how they fit you. My wife had a nasty experience with the Xiaomi 11T due to PWM and we couldnt return the phone. We sold it and got her an iPhone 11 and thanks to the awesome LCD screen she doesnt have any PWM sickness. So yeah...just my two cents.
@@jimmyd1939 I got the AirPods 3 and they didn’t fit at all. Literally felt like taking the tips off the pros and trying to fit that in your ears. The ones that fit me the best out of all of them are the originals
I haven’t got any either, I was still deciding between 2 and 3. From all of the reviews, I’m going to buy 2 cause the 3’s seem to not fit in ears properly and I don’t mind not having alot of bass in the song.
Been using gen 2 for 3 years. I hate that gen 3 are No longer touch sensor and in order to change song or answer a call u need to press the damn thing, in steady of just tapping twice and you’re sorted. This sucks when you’re wearing a hat in the winter or have dirty hands. The fact that they are shorter makes it harder as well. Sound is improved but I miss the comfort of gen 2 AirPods.
I have the pro 3s and gen 2… the gen 2 fit better and I love the tap feature over clicking… I’m a mechanic and could tap with the back of my hand or inside of my wrist or forearm that’s what puts the gen 2 over newer models to me…they charge quickly too. I know the newer generations have better audio but it’s not much of a difference and when I jump rope or run with the pro 3 I always have to adjust the pod to keep it from falling 👎🏼…the gen 2s are so underrated got my first pair 2017- 2024 the charge doesn’t hold the same as when I first bought but still working fine…
Lot of people returning these 3s for the 2s and pros. I know so many people who have the 2s simply cause the fit is insanely good. I have the 3s and I’m honestly prolly gonna turn em in and get a new pair of 2s. They don’t fit at all.
I wanted to get them for my partner for Christmas but, I already know thats going to be the problem of them staying in her air..she had the pro and loved them but, they died and was out of warranty. I’m thinking about getting the new beats because it has that little tip that will keep it in the ear.
I’ve purchased liek four pairs of the second gen and keep giving them away to family because they love them. They just sound amazing. I was thinking of getting the 3rd gen but my ear holes are small so they probably wouldn’t feel as comfortable. And I’ve never liked earbuds with the silicone ok the tips they hurt. So thank you for this video, I’m buying liek the 5th pair and hopefully I won’t give them away again haha I miss them!
Oh, there's definitely a difference. The 3s sound way better, especially in the bass. And they have adaptive EQ and spatial audio, which the 2s don't. Sounds like you might be more anti-Apple than logical about its improvements. And isn't that the goal of most companies? Sell more stuff?🤔
@@housepianist I'm not anti Apple but I'm not sure the sound quality improvement warrants a $180 upgrade especially without ANC. But I think the shorter stem might.
@@smasheduptoaster9186 keep in mind that the 3s are an upgrade to the 2s. That's what I'm talking about. Compared to those, the sound is better and it has features that are not present in the 2s. ANC is reserved for the Pros. So more accurately, for a $50 difference, the new 3s are quite different than the 2s. I'm not sure why people keep comparing the 3s to the Pros. It was never Apple's intention to make the 3s as a direct comparison to the Pros. The Pros stand on their own, which is why we will get the Pros 2 at some point in the future. So even if the 3s are getting some pro features like adaptive EQ and spatial audio, they are still different enough from the Pros to be separate from them. Lastly, whenever someone has to make a disclaimer like "they just need to sell more stuff", that comes across as being a bit biased against a company, especially since selling things is how businesses make money.
@@housepianist I love Apple gear and have done for the last 30 years. What I love more is the thought that my kids will have a planet to live on with some of its systems and wild places left...... Giving up on "spatial audio" and "adaptive EQ" seems like a relatively small price to pay for that.
The thing is that almost anyone will tell you for an extra $20 or so, get the Pros. Their reason is that it has (1) active noise cancellation, (2) ambient sound mode, and (3) silicon ear tips, which the 3s do not have. If you need those things, get the pros. However, some people (like me) do not like inserting tips into their ears. Also, some people may not need ANC either. In that case, get the 3s. They don't go into your ear canals and they do a reasonable job at passive noise cancellation while allowing you to hear what's going on around you. The 3s also has a longer battery life and can be charged via MagSafe, unlike the Pros. With all that, hopefully, you can make a decision.
i would love the 3s but now i have to sent those back since you can't disable the "FIND MY" Feature!!! It is hitting the battery life in a huge amount!! If you stay offline it will stay off, but i can't always have a look for that..... im wondering not many people find that this is the case...... going back to the 2s - thank you apple..
Everyone says how they prefer the fit of AirPods 2 over 3, but in my case I don't feel much difference. Yes, AirPods 3 are bigger, but in my ears they both feel the same for some reason and I thought I had small ears. But what I liked more on the AirPods 2 was the quality of the case, Apple actually downgraded it. The sound and the battery are better on the 3.
Another big NO NO for me why take away the tap feature ? RIDICULOUS I’m a bike mechanic by trade and HATE the fact I have to grab with 2 fingers my AirPods to talk play or any other functions . Just not fan grabbing headphones PERIOD ! Especially when running or riding my bike etc etc just takes away from the quickness and flawless of tap & go . That being said I will NOT be buying these THANK YOU Apple for saving me $179 😂
I have the 3s and they fit my ears perfectly. My ears are probably slightly less than medium. The rule of thumb might be the smaller your ears, the greater the chance they may not fit properly.
@Tikitakared I don't have the AirPods Pro but I've tried them and they actually fit ok but after some time, the tips in my ears start to irritate my ears. To be fair though, any earbuds with tips do the same thing. But when I need a seal or ANC, I do have wireless earbuds for that and I just deal with it.

Nobody appreciating how sweet this man is to his wife
1:35 which magsafe charger is this? And where do I get it
You forgot to mention about the mic
I really care about using it for phone calls
Thanks for addressing the volume/bulk of the 2 vs. 3. I too like the 2s and doubt the 3s would be as comfortable.
Timestamp
Thank you so much I was debating but now Im gonna get the 2s today
Is it me or is the gen2 louder then gen3? 🤔 can’t get the same high volume with gen3 and that sucks big time.
I noticed that, too. But the main thing for me is the fit. Gen 2 fit like a glove and these feel less secure.
Thank you for mentioning the ear size! I lost my AirPods 2 and saw that there is a 3. However my ears are so small I had to sell my AirPods Pro because it would not stay in my ears.
I think the 3’s are just going to be too big for me. Such a bummer.
Airpods 2 are just half the price of 3 at my place and I think Airpods 2 are more value for money.
it would be great if you included the microphone for full review
it’s 2024 and i bought a pair of airpod 2s! i have the pros and they hurt my ears! the airpod 2 are the best for my ears
Yes! I returned my 3’s and went back to the 2’s because of this. They’re too big and bulky. The keep falling out!
Thank you!! It’s good to know that someone else is going through what I am! Infant sized ear canals. It’s the worst!🙄
I just wanna know if the airpods 2 sound louder or which airpods son louder
Does Find My work if the buds are in the case? Which they would often be.
Why couldn’t you return it? That’s really weird
So price aside I should get gen 3 right??
yes!
I love these new AirPods! The sound is amazing and they are even more sturdy in the ear than the AirPods 2s.
Not for me, AirPods 2 is better for my ear size
@@tianshunzhao239 did AirPods Pro’s fit in ur ears?
@@jimmyd1939 tag me if he replies please
@@jimmyd1939 I got the AirPods 3 and they didn’t fit at all. Literally felt like taking the tips off the pros and trying to fit that in your ears. The ones that fit me the best out of all of them are the originals
@@blaketower2067 I’m going to try them tomorrow in the Apple Store because I can’t fit any AirPods Pro and AirPods 2 fit me perfectly
Are the 2nd Gen the same shape and size as the standard wired earbuds? I find them quite loose.
Should I buy gen 2 or gen 3?
gen2
I don t have any airpods and i want to buy some . What s the best gen 2 or 3 ?
I haven’t got any either, I was still deciding between 2 and 3. From all of the reviews, I’m going to buy 2 cause the 3’s seem to not fit in ears properly and I don’t mind not having alot of bass in the song.
AirPods2 Are much better in terms of sound quality and damage resistance in my opinion.
Can I ask if the AirPods 3 STILL support the double tap for a next track ?
They do not, there is no tapping
I'm not sure what AppleInsider is talking about. Yes, you double tap the force sensor to skip tracks.
@@smasheduptoaster9186 no you just squeeze bruh
@@sharkyy12 It's programmable. But the default to skip forward is double-press the force sensor and to skip back, triple-press the force sensor.
will gen 2 pods fit in a gen 3 case? lost my gen 2 case!
i got the aipods 3 for christmas and they hurt my ears so much because my ears are not the correct shape for them
I have the buds plus and they are so good. Now i am wondering to buy airpods (to variete) , but i dont know if i want 2 or 3 version.
What is the ELC in 7:55 second?
I’m thinking of getting AirPods 2nd gen but I’m worried if they are classed as ‘old’ now...can anyone help me out?
Lot of people returning these 3s for the 2s and pros. I know so many people who have the 2s simply cause the fit is insanely good. I have the 3s and I’m honestly prolly gonna turn em in and get a new pair of 2s. They don’t fit at all.
Bro no one really cares about that. Most people with iPhones don’t got the newest ones
You worried about what others think
@@ep_aesthetics5917 sadly
Why you worrying about what others think dude? Go for it
The magsafe ones include possibility for lightning charging?
yes
Mr. Beast right here you guys
Do your bit to save the planet, use the ones you have until they break......there is no real difference, they just need to sell more stuff
@@housepianist fr
Guys I have a question can AirPod 3 fit in an AirPod 2 case cover ?
No
@@AppleInsider thank you!
Thinkin bout to buy the 3rd gen because some online shop sells them at the exact same
price as the 2nd gen
Airpod Pros are $190 and Airpod 3s are $180 (only a ten difference) what do you guys recommend. I have the original Airpods. Looking for an upgrade!
Pros for sure
Do you need ANC? If not, choose the one that is more comfortable for you.
damn airpods pros are $329 and airpod 3s are $239 here 😭 canada gets fucked so bad with pricing
@@afunnylittlecreature Just glitch the system bro ;?/
Or just go to USA and order it there :/ bruh
Missing the mic comparaison
They're the same. Not a big difference.
Where are mic tests?
it just comes down to this: do you need noise cancellation? if yes, get pro. if not, get 3’s.
yep, I couldn't agree more. 👍🏽
Fit is important it's the first thing to prioritize
3’s fit horribly for most and are painful, don’t even bother, get the 2’s or the pros
I have recently lost the gen 2 and got the 3 version today but they are too big for my ears....
i would love the 3s but now i have to sent those back since you can't disable the "FIND MY" Feature!!!
I'm considering to buy one and should I go for gen 2 or either 3?
Maybe the Gen 2 Tbh.
Personally Airpods 3 Sound Better Than Airpods pro Especially In the bass Even without sealing into my ear canal
Do the AirPods 3 fit small ears
Got the airpods 2 for 4 years now. Batterylife is the only downside.
I think my gen 3s are broken cause the bass is way better on the gen 2s and the volume goes higher

They fit better for more people than the previous version did.
@@Streamlined955 when I read Reddit I disagree it's really 50:50
I have the 3s and they fit my ears perfectly. My ears are probably slightly less than medium. The rule of thumb might be the smaller your ears, the greater the chance they may not fit properly.
@Tikitakared I don't have the AirPods Pro but I've tried them and they actually fit ok but after some time, the tips in my ears start to irritate my ears. To be fair though, any earbuds with tips do the same thing. But when I need a seal or ANC, I do have wireless earbuds for that and I just deal with it.
Yeah I thought so, I've tried airpods pros but they do not stay in my ears no matter what. My first gen airpods are pretty much at the end of their road, so I'll just get the gen 2 airpods.
I’m gonna give gen3 a try. If it’s a bad fit, Costco gets em back. :)
Update. I’ve had them for 2 weeks and I think they might be the most amazing thing in the world. They just work
did the pain for your ears subside after awhile?
Sold pro at steep discount. I have 2’s fit great. Pros fall out sitting down and hurt my ears. I may just buy 2’s again because I think the stem somehow works to keep them in place
are ur ears small or big?
Why is 2nd Gen more expensive than 3rd?
It's not..
Can’t smile much with my 3’s they slip out lol also the 2’s are louder???
The they fit in the ears a deal breaker i feel the the original pod headphones got it just rite
I accidentally washed my airpods(2019) in the washing machine, I let them dry and they still worked. Their sound isn´t as good but they do work and this happened 6 months ago.
airpods 2nd gen are too comfortable to the point i wouldnt say its worth upgrading from it

Apple has gone terribly wrong with the Airpod 3 fit. It simply doesn't stay in the ear and is not comfortable as Gen 2.
Just bought after just losing my Gen 2 after one year of using. I should stop drinking lol

I like gen3 cause my ear hella small and y’all know how AirPods he falling out ears so gen3 will be it
