I'm a physiotherapist working in SCI centre in Hong Kong. It is so good to have your videos on RUclips. These videos are just so amazing! Thank you very much for making these.
Hi Mason I live in NZ and I'm C7 Quadriplegic (we use the term Tetraplegic) and I was injured in a tractor accident Feb 1st 2007 fracturing my spine at C5-C7 dislocation causing anterria leassions to my spinal cord plus tearing my rotator cuff tendons in my right dominate shoulder. My standing routine is 30 minutes per day and I use a Lifestand manual wheel chair with gas strut assistance this chair is great as I can use it as a normal manual chair as well. My power chair is a Permobil F5 this chair I drive from in my Kia Carnival (Sedona) 2.9 Diesel which now has traveled 160 ,000 Km and is going to be replaced with a VW Caravelle having its floor lowered and AMF lift fitted in England currently, then it will be shipped to New Zealand on completion. Best Regards from NZ
Hey Graham, I have gotten a Permobil F5 Corpus VS since recording this video and it is what I use to stand now. Thanks for sharing some of your story! Also, thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks a lot for your amazing videos mate. My dad's a C6,C7 quadriplegic and he has trouble with dysreflexia whenever he stands up. Hopefully, by more practice he may be able to take it as well as you do. BTW, have you ever tried standing on a vibrating plate? apparently, it has some benefits too!
You're welcome! Thank you for watching! Yeah, it takes a little bit for your body to get used to standing. We are sitting so much that when we stand, blood from our head goes to our legs. No, I've never heard of a vibrating plate. What exactly is it?
@@masonx54 Vibration plates (or whole-body vibration machines) are often found in physiotherapists offices, and even at some high-end gyms. There are claims that they were first used by astronauts to maintain muscle mass and bone density when they were in space. Some call it a lazy man's gym equipment to tone up with minimum effort :)There are several types of them, but generally broken into two categories, high-frequency and low-frequency plates. There are some published papers that outline the benefits of whole-body vibration therapy in spinal cord injury patients (check this link for more information: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2753701/). I wish you the best and keep up the great work mate! Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Nice! I was very lucky to get an evolv with the elliptical legs used on the cheap from a friend I met in rehab when he switched to a different piece of equipment. This model looks easier to transfer as far as knee space. I haven't been using it as regularly as I should. I've always wondered if I could somehow combine a standing frame with one of those shaking pads to stimulate impact on my bones that would be normal with running out other impact excercise. That's just my own hypothesis though. I always appreciate your videos.
Thanks Mason for your videos. Do you think we can transfer with a hover lift from our wheelchair to this standing frame. I can’t transfer on my own like you.
Did you bring your standing chair when you were at the office to allow both sit and stand through out the day. Another para I follow on RUclips uses his stand chair at his office.
Did you here about the woman who coughed all over the produce in a supermarket and said she had covid 19. She also did it in the meat and bakery. The store was forced to throw tons of food away
What is your standing routine?
