Both Thompson and Hemingway both sought adoration fervently, both carefully cultivating personas that in the end trapped them

This was a fantastic video about the world's greatest writers. On a personal level, it made me think about the dangers of being lost in nostalgia for a time in our youth. As someone entering their mid forties, I often find myself aggrandizing my twenties. When I was in my twenties I was the happiest I've ever been, and this was around the time I discovered Hunter S. Thompson, and Hemingway. Time is short though, and we often can't hold on to those things that made our lives seem so wonderful. It astounds me that these men I idolize, would share such a sense of loss. It makes me sad to think that these men felt they had nothing left to give the world, after they'd already given so much.

Rest in Peace Ernest H. and H. Thompson 🤍
Great material here, I enjoyed this quite a bit!
I'd love to see some coverage on Kentucky Derby is Decadent and Depraved if you'd consider it.
    Much love!

I wonder if you might revisit the topic of Hemingway after it's been revealed that before his death he had been regularly followed by a three letter government agency, this caused him to be diagnosed with paranoia, which resulted in shock therapy. During those "treatments" it was said that he felt that he was losing his mental faculties, and committed suicide a short time later.

and of all places, really. Shoshone, Idaho to the immediate south, a real crap hole. And a nice run north on the way to Montana and Canada. What gives?
