If you still can't not understand surrealism after watching this video, you can fake it using the following easy steps... 1. Tilt your head slightly to the left and nod slowly to make it appear as though you know what you are looking at. 2. Stroke your chin and use phrases like "revelatory use of color and form" and "profound critique of modern civilization". 3. Profit (results may vary)
A big thumbs up from all neurodivergent folks out there:)) we commend you on your journalistic unbiased approach to this subject!! Not “shying away” in the way you have here, you’ve nailed it 😊
I need to see some films at the Tyneside…They seem like they’ve always got an interesting selection. When I came down from Edinburgh they were showcasing different Bong-joo ho films.
I admire you very much, thank you for your channel, though I must say I disagree with Breton's notion that experiencing surrealist art requires a passive mind, it is rather an open mind that is necessary. What is meant by passive of course is to stop talking your regular nonsense to yourself and to wake up to the dream rather than sleep through it. As the Buddhists know, it really can be very funny when one stops talking to themselves about their own thoughts. "Steer the spaceship" as the old hippies wisely advised when one is tripping in the depths of consciousness. The best surrealist paintings can show that a rigidly materialistic sense of the universe is as absurd as a lobster telephone, this is why there are many links between surrealism & the occult, eastern philosophy etcera.
Interesting take man thank you for the comment. Maybe "passive" was the wrong way to explain it. I more mean't trying to embrace the Surreal by allowing it to happen and not questioning the "unsual" aspect of it. Keeping an open mind would have been a much better way to conclude, you're definitely right about that. Thanks again :)
Back with another video my man, always happy when you post a video!
Cheers man, much appreciated 👍
Thank you for this video!

And to add on that, I am reading Gravitys Rainbow right now funny enough
Dope
Interesting to me that the narrator had a problem appreciating surrealism when their taste is skewed towards the avant-garde.
Do you go to newcastle university?

Surrealism is just watered down Dadaism.
Surrealism is something the kookie baseless romantics made up
Baseless?? On what basis is that based on?
@@andreasmith2115 they romanticize nonsense. Take themselves too seriously, in my opinion.
Ahhh why didn’t you say “in my opinion” in the first place. I was going to say my friend, someone is pulling your leg :)
@andreasmith2115 haha, I am very sorry... I was in a rush to comment because I was outdoors. Have a nice day, friend. 😁
Good luck my son
