International students if you want to go to college in nyc don’t aim low for Brooklyn college some of the teachers are unfair and not very good at teaching, aim high for hunter college or Baruch, those are great colleges that are great on the resumé
My parents both taught at Brooklyn College, and while I agree with you that Brooklyn isn't as prestigious as Hunter (where I also studied) or Baruch, it's still a good college. And unlike Hunter or Baruch, it does have an ACTUAL central campus; and Brooklyn now also offers residential options, like Hunter has been doing. Baruch also offers a residential option, but it's EXTREMELY limited, there's only one residence hall. My parents were both ACCOMPLISHED EXCELLENT English Professors and their students loved them. SO, like at ANY college, you have better professors and worse professors. I eventually went to private college out of state, and the same thing: WIDE variety of professors -- some were amazing and some sucked. Brooklyn isn't aiming "low" though. You can get an EXCELLENT well-rounded education there. Baruch IS better for working in the Financial sector, and Hunter for Nursing or Social Work, both of which are ABSOLUTELY true. If I hadn't left NYC for college, I would have gone to Hunter, as I felt like that was the CUNY that "fit" my needs. Plus, it is the BEST of the CUNY colleges. However, Brooklyn isn't a bad college. It just doesn't have the same reputation that Hunter or Baruch do, but then again, it's just as good as Queens, Lehman or CCNY.
