  • In this video i'll tell you why Why Hourly Photography Rates are Bad. Hourly photography (or video) is going to destroy your business. Do not charge hourly for your photoshoots or video shoots (except in one situation). If you want me to review your website's pricing page, let me know in the comments below. Link your page and tell me what you want to ask. I'll do this for free to everyone who comments in the first hour after the video is published!

    I think more people should see/hear this… thank you for sharing your experiences!
    I’m a full time photographer since April this year. The most important thing I learned so far: LEARN. TO. SAY. NO.!
    Whatever you believe in, don’t worry things will get better for you but learn to respect yourself by saying no.

      Thank you Martin! That's my goal that more people see it, share it and help each other do better. You are correct... saying NO is an invaluable tool.

    I always charge a couple of bottles of corona for a shoot should I make it a package deal and get a six pack???

    I base my package rates on hourly rates. My packages obviously include processing and delivery.
    But my clients only see the package rate. That way they know they'll get a certain result, regardless of how long it takes.

    • @WalidAzamiTV
      @WalidAzamiTV  2 года назад +1

      Bingo! That was perfectly stated. It's based on hourly but they get an overall price.

    If you are a hourly photographer, set a limit, like a 2 hour minimum. This will stop those who try to break down the time to the minute.

      I see what you're saying and that's a good plan (better than not having a minimum) but it's still bad to pin yourself to an hourly price.

    Hi Walid! I have a question. I truly experienced this when I told a lady my rate for a headshot session. She did exactly what you said, trying to come down to 1/2 hour. However I'm conflicted, as my headshot sessions only take 30mins to an hour *advertised as an hour* for an individual. Am I unable to sell that as a package (just in an hour), or do I need to come up in the timeframe and add more to the experience? Sorry if I'm not fully grasping the concept! I Mightve gotten too used to cheapos near me for your same reason disclosed. Love your videos! ❤

      Just to give more detail, I would pose it as, "you get x amount of photos for $$ and 1hr in studio" as an example

    I need help tweaking my package pricing or I need to ignore hagglers.
    For example, I have a package that includes 3 images. The haggler will go, I only need one. What do you charge for that?

    • @WalidAzamiTV
      @WalidAzamiTV  2 года назад +1

      Good question. And I remember you from TikTok (seeee I care about my community lol) - also your photo is the same there...which means great branding.
      Since I don't have much info on this package, I would remind them of the value of multiple choices. I would also say that's your lowest package. If they choose to say NO, then you have eliminated a future problem client. You are trying to attract a certain type of clientele. If they cancel themselves out, then that's what happens.
      Again though I haven't seen your package. I don't know the cost, how many hours, etc... so that's me comment based off of your comment.

      @@WalidAzamiTV that makes sense. I’m learning not to take it personally when people get sticker shocked and want to haggle. I give them my basic package and stick to it.
      I used to give in, but I’m learning that the ones who don’t question the pricing and pay are the easiest clients to deal with. The ones that haggle from the start are never satisfied and will ask more and more from you as if they are seeing how far they can push the line.

    • @WalidAzamiTV

      @@ajaxrodriguez8956 Not only should you NOT take it personally, but you should also take it as a win. Now you know that person is not your ideal client. You can focus on other things.
