Don’t be a smartass. Zoning characters, especially the Belmont’s, have an amplified advantage state compared to most of the cast. They can sit back and force the opponent to approach and thus force them to take lots of damage from all the projectiles the Belmont’s put in the path the enemy has to take to finally secure the kill.

Some of it was really good, but some was also just very standard Simon/Richter play. Throw holy water on ledge, trap with F tilt/F smash, throw axe and throw cross to catch jumps and hangs and recoveries. If they get past all of that, SH nair, grab and throw off, or something else. Like, the spacing on his ledge traps was pretty good, but it wasnt really anything revolutionary or particuarly amazing. It was standard Ricther/Simon stuff. That said, a lot of his combos and conversions were pretty clean, and he definitely had some really good set ups in general.

It was not brainless ledgetrapping. Sure, it looks spammy, but there are reasons behind it. He's covering Falcon's recovery options, and of course the Belmont's ledgetrapping is strong. That's what makes them "the Belmonts." Without that, you take away most of the character. The whip has great range and damage, but it's combo ability is very limited and works best with the projectiles. The range is good, but you can only strike "in lines" making combos even more difficult. And their recovery is very bad. From longer distances, it's guaranteed they'll try a tether recovery, which can be read, easily edgeguarded, and an easy kill. There's a little bit more mixup from shorter distances, but they can be edgeguarded very easily. This is simply the strength of the Belmonts, to compensate for their many weakness. Nobody plays to the weakest aspects of a character lol. And no one is automatically OP. You just have to learn your opponent.
props to both players, most belmont players really ought to play more aggressive and press their advantage state on stage, since it actually seems like the best thing to do against better players (unless said character cant deal with zoning, but why would someone pick a character like that vs a belmont), with the bonus being viewer experience enhancement. fatality amazing falcon as always, good stuff and shows us in hindsight how many ways richter could've died. regarding the "zoning is cancer" crowd, it's not very fun, but it can actually be hype when you see a semi aggressive zoner press advantage and go for reads, and has counterplay regardless. besides, it's not like simon / richter have much else, with only a few "get off me" options and a rather bad recovery, as their tether despite being long only takes a single lingering aerial in the right spot to beat

Although Fatality did a great job of getting around the projectiles, unless Belmonts can find better ways of edgeguarding, juggling, and resetting neutral, I don't think they'll be able to keep up with people learning how to stuff their options, and reaction defend against a lot of the projectiles.

If ypure gonna play Richter or Simon def utilize Nair for a combo starters and connecters, it puts the opponent in a "stay next to me" state allowing follow ups to be damn near frame perfect if you know and understand spacing+follow up game💯

I play pretty much the entire roter with maybe the exception of villager, Meta Knight and King K Rool. My three mains are Ganon , Robin and Palutena. I've been playing Ganon since meelee and Robin and Palutena ever since 4. I barely play Palutena. That being said it's cake for me to play Captain Falcon since he's always had a similar moveset to Ganon. I've also played puff since 4. My pocket characters are Puff , Zelda and Ike. I've played puff since 4, Zelda since meelee and Ike since 4 (didn't play him brawl)

My pocket characters are Puff , Zelda and Ike. I've played puff since 4, Zelda since meelee and Ike since 4 (didn't play him brawl)
