This cover is fire. As a fan of the original song, I have been wondering how a heavy cover on it would sound like, and well this did not disappoint. Mana knows how to make bangers of covers. The amount of covers she has been releasing this year while still keeping up the quality is insane.
I love that deliciously downtuned, almost blackened sound to the guitars. It really captures that somber and melancholy, yet oddly nostalgic vibe. The events of Ai's early life were dark, gritty, and depressing; shit no kid should ever have to go through and I feel like this serves as an outstanding representation of her feelings.
You described my thoughs in the most beautiful, eloquent way possible and I love it so much! I couldn't agree more. I love how the song feels like a deep dive into Ai's psyche rather than her telling us how she really feels in a way that still caters to the happy image her fans adore which, while perfectly represents how restrictive her job is and how she can't even show her raw emotions as she literally sings all about them because it breaks her image, also doesn't feel quite as genuine and **real** as a version that feels so melancholy and oddly nostalgic whule clearly holding back some level of anger wether at herself or her life (not likely towards others, it isn't in her nature).
