    Rockhounding seems to be two hobbies. The one for me is the treasure hunt on the beach or by the river. The one I don’t want to start is the polishing. Not because that isn’t great, but because at 74 I don’t need yet another hobby!

    Just subscribed to your channel today then I listened to your opinion on the druze pockets. I totally agree, I believe in not putting to much emphasis on them, to me, they add character. I've watched tutorials where the people have rejected the stone because they couldn't remove them. also, I had no idea you could get fifty thousand grit wet 'n' dry paper. Nice video.

      Hi Paige Lee, sounds like your going full bore on your Rockhounding habit...😆 LOL.
      The HiTech Diamond is one heck of a machine! Both SeaJay and I look forward to when we get to play on it and reveal another rock or agate to it's final beauty.

    Nicely done! Do you prefer the slant machine over the all you need (or whatever it’s called) version? If so, why? What do you think is the best type of lapidary equipment to buy first? We have a tile saw which will work until we can get a lap trim saw. I’m trying to find a good starter cab/polishing machine for the piles of rocks we have at home. Beautiful rocks but they are sitting in boxes.

      Hi Rachael, thanks so much.
      We have a great little tile saw that works just fine. It's more in the diamond blade in our opinion than a fancy trim saw, although if you have the bucks, it's a bit more accurate on cuts.
      The thing about the slant lap verses the flat lap comes down to physical comfort. They both do the same job. With the slant lap it puts your work at an angle right in front of you. So with the aid of a good light above your work (We use an old telescoping mic stand) it makes the sometimes hours working on different projects easier on your wrists, back and neck.
      We love ours and the HiTech Diamond slant doesn't take up a lot of valuable space. We put some wheels on an old small nightstand and it works perfect.
      When you decide which kind you want consider use our discount code "DENNYSEAJAY" and you'll save 10% on all your supplies and accessories, especially in the beginning you'll save some money. If you use our link for your purchase then we earn a small affiliate commission, which by the way doesn't effect your cost but helps us to keep making videos.

    Do you not use eye protection or a mask?

    • @agateenchantmentrockwizard5969
      @agateenchantmentrockwizard5969  Год назад +1

      Yes, I usually use both. On this particular video, I didn't, which I have received all kinds of heck for! Lol!

      Barbara, we did wear masks & eye protection off camera, but it is extremely difficult to be understood when speaking through a mask on camera.... which is why we took the masks off
