I personally loved it. Sure, they changed a lot of the Turtle lore and I scratched my head at certain things but I was willing to roll with it by the end because the movie was so good
I think it's good that they tried to do something different with Mutant Mayhem but I personally felt that they pulled it off well. I may prefer the original 90's film by a mile but this was such a damn good time. Also, major props for saying that Elemental is underrated, I agree highly.
Did you know Stockman was supposed to be the fly in this movie? Because they made the figures based on early concepts it was based on Stockman as Superfly, with his shirt and tie getting ripped. Rowe literally said: “it didn’t make sense why he was wearing a shirt and tie”. Does he not think about why there is a shirt and tie in the first place? It’s not like he wants to since it’s getting ripped and therefore no longer good clothing, but it suggests also the last remnants of his humanity before becoming a monster. That’s genuinely a dumbass decision to kill Baxter and not even spend the time considering why he’s wearing the shirt and tie.
Dude, TMNT is a multiverse. This is just another universe within it. Also, I loved this movie. Either you didn't pay attention or you were too busy hoping it'd be like the 90's TMNT. But, then again, you ARE the same guy who attacked G-Fans for liking Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
About Super Fly having the same motivations as Magneto - I mean, the Turtles were created to be a satire/parody of other superheroes, so... And as for the changes to Leatherhead... I guess Jeff Rowe is a really big fan of Rose Byrne.
It's understandable since this movie will definitely be very divided between fans since it makes so many changes to the lore in ways that don't make sense. I'm what you call an average fan of tmnt so I did enjoy it but I did have issues with no hamato yoshi being mentioned and rocksteady and bebop being heroes like you did Adam.
coming from someone who isn’t a big fan of the turtles (it was never my thing when i was a kid), i had a great time with this movie and liked it despite it’s flaws
I cannot entirely agree wtih you about the TMNT lore in this film since I did like it more than you apparently. But what is your opinion on the use of the song, Take It To The Limit by Paul Engemann in Mutant Mayhem?
Giancarlo was only in this movie for maybe 10 mins of this movie, and he was gone just like that come on it reminded me of when they had Dylan O'Brien do the voice of Bumblebee and he just had a few lines, and he was gone in the 1st 10 mins well to me that sucks I would have loved to hear more of his voice before you take it away.
A huge shame. Giancarlo is perfect for a liveaction version of the 2003 Baxter Stockman and his addition of past exoerience on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul only adds to a mussed missed opportunity for more.
Based on what I’ve heard, it looks like the best TMNT content released thus far is Shredder’s Revenge. I got no dog in this fight, it’s for kids and I’ll let them enjoy it.
If Mario was a delightful breakfast, Spiderverse is a hearty lunch, & Elemental was a simple & elegant dinner, TMNT:MM was a messy but tasty dessert. In other words I thought this was a fun movie. It does have its questionable changes and it was distracting but I think the good outweighs the bad by moderate margin.
I can see why people like the movie, but it’s really not for me. Though I will say, you think (SPOILERS!) since Jackie Chan voices splinter (which is a fantastic choice by the way), splinter would be a rat from Japan, but he’s an American rat. You can believe splinter’s accent because he did come from Japan in most of his incarnations, hence the connection with ninjutsu and shredder. But this splinter is an American rat, so he’d have an English accent. Again, I love that they chose Jackie Chan to play splinter, but this American splinter plays it off as if his Asian accent is fake…. Like with the 2014 live action splinter, he’s not really Asian at all or really has any connection to Japan, and him acting Asian seems racist…. Not to mention shredder isn’t really gonna have a connection with the turtles whatsoever in the next movie, because theres no hamato yoshi OR splinter having anything to do with the foot clan
No connection to Yoshi? No previous life in his care being his pet rat? Not Hamato Yoshi himself? Look im not huge on my turtle lore but from my knowledge, 2 of the most popular incarnations of the turtles on tv have either Splinter mutating into a rat from human form from toxic waste in the case of the 1987 cartoon but the 2003 4kids cartoon changed it to where Splinter can also be Yoshi's pet rat that mutated from toxic waste. Either way, Splinter is connected to Hamato in some way and removing that removes a large element of his connection to Shredder
@@walkingcubkid yeah. If a casual ninja turtles fan such myself can recognize Splinter is suppose to be connected to Hamato Yoshi in some form, then there is now a very troubling issue
I haven't seen the film yet but hearing that bit that they want to ditch the lore doesn't feel like they are doing the series justice, which is what I was looking forward to along with its incredible animation. Funny how I heard the mic catch you slamming your desk in how Splinter isn't Hamato Yoshi, because sure while it makes sense he would learn ninjutsu from movies to protect the Turtles, it also strips away the essential lore that makes up the franchise's identity. To anyone else who wants to see a good movie without connection to the franchise, this is decent, but as a Ninja Turtles film it falls flat. It is funny because the idea of acceptance works really well and feels like a good philosophy embedded into spiritual japanese culture, and the Turtles being as young and silly as they are learning more about that, coming from Hamato vs. Oraku and how it grows them not just as ninjas but as people, would have supplemented this movie wth more depth and emotion. Plus it was a good point to add how they arbitarily pick villains and turn them into good guys like Bebop and Rocksteady. Acceptance works better for specific villains, like Leatherhead in 2012. They had touched on ideas of acceptance but didn't forget the roots of the series. Wonder if you have seen the IGN review where they said they were glad how it ditches the martial arts stuff, which is really stupid because it questions even if you like Ninja Turtles, that part that is the identity of the franchise. Good honest review, I've been hearing more praise from people who aren't even fans of the series.
I really loved this movie, and i will say this in my personal opinion i will say despite everything its a 7/10 i have some small gripes with it in terms of dialogue along with references an music felt off at least for me. I agree with your opinions tho, and I understand why you think it's mediocre.
Two first films from 1990s are still MASTERPIECES and can NEVER be topped
I personally loved it. Sure, they changed a lot of the Turtle lore and I scratched my head at certain things but I was willing to roll with it by the end because the movie was so good
Maybe some of Baxter stockman consciousness transferred into superfly?
I think it's good that they tried to do something different with Mutant Mayhem but I personally felt that they pulled it off well. I may prefer the original 90's film by a mile but this was such a damn good time.

This is actually the best reviewed movie in the entire franchise. It scored a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.
As with The Invisible Man remake, you're nicer than I would have been. I thought the film sucked.
Been loving the Tmnt since the 90s & I thought this movie was the best adaptation we've gotten in years . Since the early 2000s

If you want to get further spoiled with the quality of animation this year, check out Nimona and Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken.

Exactly, people seem to forget that turtles forever even exists
Yeah I like the first two movies from the 90's. Great classics.

I'd argue that this is the first time the TMNT acted like actual teenagers.

Yeah… I’m not interested in the movie. I know that’s not what some of you want to hear but I just don’t have any interest in seeing it.
i thought this movie was meh at best

animation wise the movie is stellar, but I have seen better renditions of the TMNT lore.

Hey Adam, any chance we can get an elemental trivia?
Your audio is really low
Will you do a review of the meg 2
For me, Mutant Mayhem (2023) was a shell of a time & I give it a 10/10.
Review 😊
