    LED causes a lot of health issues. The flickering that is not easily observed causes headaches, anxiety and contributes to cataract. Id rather stay with incandescent light. Save on energy cost pay with your life… doesn’t seem like a fair trade.

    LED are polluant and very unhealthy. If they use "less" energy (to light your room... not to produce them) it is just because it is flickering! The rate is high enough for your eyes not to see it, but it is always getting ON and OFF.... which is very unnatural and a good way to get sick.
    Do you feel as if you have a "v1ru5"??
    Turn these LED lights off... and see if you're better.
    Not sufficient?
    Turn the computer/TV screen off (or adjust or filter the blue part at around 25%).
    And, if you still feel dizzy... turn your phone off too.
    Have a nice life!

      @Gray Au You do realize that modern LEDs come in all different colors from the full spectrum of visible light? There are already LEDs that match the light spectrum of incandescent perfectly, but at much lower power consumption. The problem was in old crappy LEDs that put out too much blue light, which messes with the circadian clock.

    • @4nlimited3dition_4n3d
      @4nlimited3dition_4n3d 3 года назад +1

      @Gray Au You can still buy those retro vintage Edison LED incandescent bulbs. They are literally indistinguishable from the old tech, except wasting way less energy. They literally produce the same light.

    I would love to know how to make a more permanent DIY bulb, I am concerned with the amount of time it can stay on. Is anyone able to point me to additional info? This was great as a first pass to identify the basics, but it's not a long term particle solution, however I could imagine a couple of simple modifications that might get it there... I guess I will be clicking around until I find something of critical importance to further my knowledge. Thanks so much for making this.

  • @DobleWhiteAndStabley
    @DobleWhiteAndStabley Год назад

    Ah. Sweet. Just the knowledge I needed to manufacture my own lightbulbs... And a sprengel mercury vacuum pump... For the vacuum. And tungsten wire for the fillament. Remember, things don't burn well in an environment that lacks oxygen to react with. They can still glow bright though.

    wish you would've shown how long the bulb will last.

  • @dercebe
    @dercebe 6 лет назад +1

    I wonder, if you could make this last longer with household materials by using the following methods:
    > Use a candle in the jar, to consume the oxygen prior to switching on the carbon rod filament
    > Use some drying agent ( salt, drain cleaner, anything hygroscopic )
    > Use something as a seal / putty that does not contain water moisture
    > Maybe even purging the jar with CO2 from a soda stream or helium from balloon gas or argon from a TIG welder
    > use some tinfoil on the clamp-to-carbon rod contacts to reduce mechanical stress on the carbon rod

    • @micheals1992
      @micheals1992 Год назад

      You could also use a different filament that doesn't burn/oxidize. You could probably use Kanthal and tune the length/resistance so it doesn't get over 1,500°c. It'd be a dull warm light (1,600-1,700k) but it would work in atmospheric air.

    Thank you for your video 🌟 ... Is there any realistic way to make an easy homemade bulb that is more like an LED - safer/less heat and very low voltage, that lasts? ... If not technically an LED, something that has similar properties to an LED:
    1) extremely low voltage
    2) good brightness relative to tiny size
    3) safety (no/very low heat).
    It only needs to emit a very small amount of light.
    * This is for a non-profit creative project. The project imagines the possibility of basic electricity being used in an alternate world where the technology is lower than ours.
    **I imagine a rudimentary battery (like the Bagdad Battery) would power the tint bulb.
    Thank you in advance if you (or anyone else) can help. xx 😘💐

    Your bulb lasted 14 seconds. Ya big deal.
    When one of Edison's early light bulbs burned out in 40 hours he considered that to be a flop.

    • @dercebe
      @dercebe 6 лет назад

      Actually many of his first experimental lamps only lasted seconds as he tried to make this work in open air. He was a very good experimenter, but in some cases it seems to me not a very good thinker. It took quite some time to get to the point where he would use a vacuum, partially to the means of creating a good enough vacuum becoming more available at that time that finally led to success in combination with the design and manufacture of the early carbon filaments.

      Electromagnetic power conversion goes hard when you load it example when you connect a motor to a led the turn it it will turn harder than empty because there is a current load. In this case incandesent bulbs draws tons of current and that caused to them get banned from european union.
