  • Come along as I explore Vilcabamba for a few days. Enjoy video and photography of this beautiful mountain town famous for its gorgeous weather and relaxed way of life.
    Sorry for the occasional green flashes. Apparently I need some new editing software. I tried to export this multiple times but I couldn't remove the flashing. Thanks for putting up with it!
    I hope you enjoy this video. If you do and you want to buy me a coffee (or some new editing software) I would absolutely love that! You can do that at this link here:

    Oh, you have made me so homesick. Vilca is where I plan on making my home. I haven't been back for several years and hope to be there by the end of the year permanently. Thank you, thank you, thank you...

    I arrived here yesterday. It is really small but beautiful. After quito, otavalo, banos, cuenca and Loja, it feels hot here. But, who can complain when you have two craft beer outfits; zarza and venado del sol. The lady who owns vds (along with her husband) gave me and my tour guide a very gracious and long tour of the brewery. ❤

    Obviously their linguistics tree is sorely lacking without the inclusion of Australian. Great video. The best one I've seen showing the streets of Vilcabamba.

    Very nice video and still shots. I really appreciate your skill at photography. After watching this, it makes me want to check out the area. I’m a little nervous about taking the buses though. I have fears of going off a cliff.

      Thanks mate! Yeah man, I hear you. We have experienced some terrifying bus rides at the hands of absolutely crazy drivers. In fact, I just rode multiple busses from Loja to the coast and back and will be putting together a video all about riding busses. Stay tuned for that! I'm so glad you enjoy my photography. Cheers!

    Two bucks for a busride to Vilca! Can't beat that! Nice pics. Do you have to turn that polarizing filter towards the direction of the sun?

    • @Alvey_en_Ecuador
      @Alvey_en_Ecuador  10 месяцев назад

      Thanks mate! The filter is a rotating filter. You twist it for more or less polarization. It doesn't have to be pointed in the direction of the sun, but it works better at some angles than others. In Minneapolis it was fantastic for removing glare from the fall colors on the trees and revealing the reds and oranges beneath. No digital saturation needed! Thanks for watching!

      It takes 40 minutes and it's one of the most scenic bus rides you'll ever take in your life. There's an older video I made about the bus ride. You can still find it on my channel...thanks for the pizza!!

    Does anyone know if the restaurants in Ecuador are inspected to make sure they have sanitary cooking conditions and environments?
    I ask because i saw a video of someone selling different kinds of meat, just lying out in the open, right next to each other, not refrigerated and not covered from bugs or debris. 🥴

      If they do it but obviously sometimes it gets out of control, it is better to avoid Chinese restaurants and certain street stalls. 😊

    It looks like any other Ecuadorian mountain town, only with more colonization. I don’t get what all the fuss is about. They’ve disproven that it’s the valley of longevity, all of Ecuadorian mountain towns have the same age extending qualities. I guess most people feel that there is safety in numbers, but in the case of Vilca, it has caused more animosity towards the colonizers over the past 10 years or so. Seeing as how bad the sidewalks are in Vilca, I’m surprised there’s so many older people who move there.

      My great-grandma passed away when she was 99 years old, she lived in Quilanga (in the province of Loja - Ecuador) no so far from Vilcabamba. I don't live in that province but I had the opportunity to visit her and she was an amazing woman, walking by herself, hearing very good and didn't use glasses. It's a quiet little town, and the sidewalk maybe in the same conditions of Vilcabamba.

    • @proyectonuevo7487
      @proyectonuevo7487 8 дней назад

      The amazing thing about Vilcabamba is its diversity of cultures and the long-lived exist, not because they live to be 130 years old, but because they live to be more than 90 years old in perfect health conditions.

      Haha, good question! That kind of religious imagery is everywhere here. I'm atheist and at first i thought it would annoy me but the pictures they use are so kitsch it's mostly just funny. Christ has got the wheel! :) Thanks for watching. Cheers!
