Thanks for sharing this. It's refreshing to hear about real struggles today and not just the social media highlight reel. Well done creating a niche where none existed before. Good luck!
As always, your videos are fantastic. What I think you are missing out on noticing is that it is not your qualities as video producer that got you this far. What got you this far, is your authenticity and strong will personality. (the main reason you got me hooked on your videos 5 yrs ago) You will have no trouble nailing this job. I'm really happy for you and your family. You deserve it!
Gracias amigo! Best wishes! Really appreciate your work since a long time ago as a KLR lover. We are happy for you and your family. Greetings from Costa Rica!
The RUclips giveth, and the RUclips taketh away. I've had some terrible experience girlfriends, but in terms of manipulation, RUclips takes the cake. It's awesome to hear your story and the struggles you had, especially in Winnemucca, and how you overcame those hard times. It takes a good man to dig in, put his family first, and do what it takes to be a solid dad and husband. I'm so glad to hear that you're reaping the rewards of working very hard on RUclips back in the Panama days, and reaping the rewards of working so hard in a field where most people give up. I'm sure your videos are going to be awesome! No need to be nervous, you're going to rock it! Just don't forget to inject some of that classic halfthrottle humor :)
It really opened up my eyes to what a bad idea it is to try and build a career out of RUclips. If overnight they can do something that cuts your income in half, no warning, no reason then it isn't a place you want to put your families well being in. And I emailed you my recent problem with Amazon. You can just be dropped overnight with no way to appeal. That said I've also shown up to work and been fired out of the blue. The difference is it's easier to find a new job with a proper resume, and not one that says, "RUclips content creator." On it. All these things that happened to me are the reason I continually bust your balls so hard about being a full-time RUclipsr. I've been amazed and sometimes confused by your determination and resilience to keep pushing forward. With that kind of stubbornness pushing you forward I have no doubt that you will be successful in whatever path you choose.
@@0xsergy That depends on the producer level. These guys might be small potatoes in the overall scheme of things but sounds like you haven't yet discovered how much some of the more widely viewed RUclipsrs are pulling in. Ya might be like .... 😯 As long as they're socking some away for lean times, no worries!
Ahh I love this so much!!! SO happy for you and I know you're gonna KILL IT. Corporate won't know what hit 'em. You'll just keep them wishing they had only created the position sooner. But it couldn't come at a more perfect time...Wow. I'm still in awe that this all played out the way it did. So glad I could help reignite that energy for videos, but really you had it in there all the time, Ryan!! Your vids and passion inspired ME. Lots of love and the best of luck sent from NY
Remember how bad your feet used to hurt? Dont forget that fancy new 4K monitor you have now.... And you can give the big finger to RUclips! Well done Homie....so glad to see it happen, you worked hard for it.
1. Very happy for you 2. I completely understand the happy/nervous thing! When you're used to things not working out and then they do, it takes a while to get your head around it!
Wow! What a beautiful area! Hopefully you’ll love your new position and your wife will get approval to start practicing medicine there! The US makes many things more difficult than they should be!
Thanks for the updates my friend, I've been following you I think from the beginning of your RUclips channel. Worrying when you took a break from it but also understanding your position and that life is dynamic. I would like for the know that you were my inspiration for riding bikes and also dual spring as I know you insured on as well. You deserve to be position at work and I wish you the best! Now go get some videos produced. Much love from Israel.
Wow, great video. It really fills in a lot of gaps in your Panama and US moves. I'm sorry its been such a rough time. Glad it is finally working out. I was in a Harley dealer this weekend and saw the toy motorcycle and couldn't stop laughing remembering your video.
Great story and congratulations to you and the family! It's funny how life evolves. Sounds like it's your turn to receive a blessing. Wishing you great success in further developing your talents!
Bud that is a great story, I started watching you when you and your buddy went down to Panama on the first trip. I always wondered what happened to the vlogs you were doing in the Panama days, those were always fun to watch and I miss them. They actually got me watching other RUclipsrs who ride. Most of those have stopped doing videos as well so I guess the same income reduction happened to them. Glad you are making videos again and I need to watch your other channel but haven't got around to it.
That's been ten years ago now. Love being able to go back and watch those old videos about that adventure. It's seems I screwed around on RUclips long enough to actually turn it into a career.
Wow! A huge congratulation for your new position. We completely understand the string of bad luck and the depression that ensues... but we are even happier that you stuck through it! Thanks for all the awesome content over the years and best of luck with your new position.
The paradox of RUclips now is low revenue and some of the best content nobody sees, while garbage and poorly curated stuff is pushed. I wound up producing videos for government in a similar fashion but I decided to retire early and go it alone without a boss. Great to see you're back doing these videos. I always wondered what happened in Panama.
Honestly the plan was to leave Panama all along. My wife had 2 years of residency left and we planned to return to the USA after that. Although I did sort of hope that we would be able to stay there. If I could have found something to keep myself busy we probably would have stayed.
Thanks for the update. I was excited to see this video show up. You are the sole person that convinced me to get a KLR and I havent looked back. Thank you.
True Story Sunday is back! Great to hear you and the family are doing OK. EVERY journey is filled with U-turns/deadends. But, if you will not quit, they can not stop you. Do what you are good at, if no one notices, go somewhere else. At some point, I would recommend a trip to Texas. The place is booming, Spanish is a plus, the winters are only weeks long and mild, and lots of folks ride bikes year round. Glad to see you making videos for fun. It is your passion and you are excellent at it. Saludos a todo la familia.
I'm glad things are good for you again. I'm in Panama now, failing miserably trying to get the Friendly Nations Visa - can't even do step 1 - open a bank account. My bike is in storage back in the US. Ignore everybody who is telling you to get a GPS for the bike - the best trips never follow the planned route. Keep the shiny side up, and keep posting bike vids from wherever you find yourself. I enjoy your stories and the scenery.
Hey halfthrottle -- Great to get this and to hear you're doing well. I don't know what kind of other feedback you got, but I can tell you that I quit watching when I did, because I stopped getting notifications from RUclips that you had a new video. They just stopped one day. This is the first one I've received in years. The "Subscribed" tab still shows that I'm subscribed, so I think part of the problem may have been a problem where RUclips's system of notification to subscribers broke down. Yes, I could have searched for them, but I think most people just assumed if there was something new, we'd be notified as we always had been. I had a condo in Chiriqui province, and always enjoyed listening to your stories while you rode through that beautiful countryside. Glad you're back on your feet, and congratulations for the developments/ expansion of your family! Best wishes.
Oh, I meant to add that I've always thought you had the perfect "voice" and conversational skills to narrate anything well. It's good to know you're still able to take advantage of that in your job. Maybe the NBA was not realistic because of your height -- but as a narrator/ videographer, the sky's the limit, since you do have those skills, some of which you had no control over no matter how much you trained and perfected the other factors that go into producing a compelling video.
Congratulations on the new position. I have been following your channel now for a many years now. I remember the first time you responded to one of my comments about a chocolate bar you were eating in a video and I was floored that someone would respond so quickly from so far away. When searching for a Dualsport bike at the time I quickly realized I could not afford to be a Long Way hero but I could afford the Halfthrottle KLR adventure. So I grabbed a cheep KLR and through RUclips found another guy that was just starting out in the same position and riding skill as me. (EverRide). Thanks again and I look forward to your stories to come.
I remember watching this video several years ago. It was very inspiring back then. Heck, it was inspiring this time too. I hope things are still going ever onward and upward with you and you family.
Congratulations to you. You should be very proud of this achievement. I enjoyed this video, your a good story teller. It's the first time for a long time I've watched a video all the way through without skipping forward. All the best to you and your family.
Awesome story man. Way to hang in there. I married a girl from David Panama and I really enjoyed and looked forward to your videos from that area. I'm thinking about mailing a KLR 650 piece by piece to David and reassembling it there. Not sure how customs would react if I show up trying to register a motorcycle that didn't come through the port.
What a great story! I'm so glad U-Toob pushed this under your nose, since I've been a great fan for a while now. I truly hope the job works out well for you, but also I hope you won't get so burnt out on doing videos during the week that you won't still make some for us. All the best,...
Wow, great to see your update and how exciting to have your current job!! Well done. I'm sorry to hear that your struggles were even worse than I thought, but you hung in there and had the smarts and creativity to succeed. I figured it would be a huge uphill battle for your wife to get legal to work in the US, and does she even want to work in that broken health care system? I know though, a shame to not use her education and capabilities. It's harder to make friends in the US too. The culture is different, as you know, and you have to activity seek out like minded people, not just start conversations with random strangers. Your children are so beautiful! I love it when you post photos on Facebook. We think of you often and wish both of you the best. Congrats on the great job!
This video is very nice visually. What kind of camera do you use? I love stories about overcoming adversity. If everyone could just hang in there, they'd find things usually work out.
Why do I get the feeling you might be making that dream come true in a roundabout manner?...not so much abandoned as adapted. And I see an OG halfthrottle moto vlog with added layers of experience and craftwork in the not too distant future. Glad things are coming together for you. Hopefully your wife catches a break too. True story sunday is a favorite. Keep em coming when you can.
Great story. I've just had a pretty big career setback, and I really needed to hear a story like this to help me see a way forward. Thanks so much. I've always loved your videos, but this one is my favorite.
+Professor Moto Being out of work really sucks. I don't think I mentioned that when we found out my wife was pregnant I was applying for 5 jobs every day. I was about ready to start applying for jobs at fast food joints. Finding work can get very discouraging. What you're facing probably won't be easy, and I hope you come out the other side sooner than later.
Engrossing video. The real-time context enhances the life-story. Getting lost with his bike in suburbia, riding up dead-ends, is an image of the painful dead-end that the speaker experienced in Panama. When he brakes so hard he almost gets thrown over the handlebars ('I almost died'), it's the killing toll of the work at the iron plant. When he hits the high road, it reflects his changing role at the company. Useful life lessons here. Per ardua ad astra . . .
Congratulations on your position doing something you love and providing for your family! I watched your videos years ago when I got my klr in 2012 and they’ve positively impacted me in my bike choice and I’ve got 37,000 miles on it and due to a bike ride on my klr got a job that sucked that led to my dream job as a resource conservationist for the gov.
I was blessed by your message. I listened to all of it. I must say, your method of delivery from a motorcycle ride in the mountains was pleasant. The whole presentation was very good.
They're in for a sweet treat....how to properly drink motor oil, how to run around town with your shirt off, etc. All in 4K fancy equipment. They have no idea how lucky they are. Awesome job.
Thanks for the update. Hope you're able to make and upload more motorvlogs. I still have and wear my halfthrottle hat I ordered when you were in Panama. Take care.
Glad you made it. My favorite videos of yours were the "True Story Sunday" series. Stick with what got ya there, minus the motorcycle and you'll do great!
Hey man , good to see another video from you. I watched all your videos of panama and enjoyed the adventure through the pc screen. Congratulations for this new position. I live in argentina and work for a US corporation, there is plenty of oportunities to explote video producing skills like yours... i will put to practice that 3 time explanation technic to see how it works.
You have found your niche, you have the gift of the gab, tell a good story have lots of practical experience both on the job and making film. You will be awesome at this.
Really nice video and great conversation. Wonderful that you can get pay for doing what you love! Now, it has been almost a year and I am curious in your story....How is the wife, the baby and the job? I am also from Panama!
James MacDonald .... you thought he was lost?😂 I was thinking he was getting closer to the beautiful mountain in the background for an awesome hike 😬👍🏼
Great Job, Good for you. I started watching you because I wanted to retire in Costa Rica. When I seen you riding around Panama It opened up A view of Panama that was not available to me. I wish you would have done more on Costa Rica. You made Panama look more doable or livable. Your adventures where what I wanted to do. I wish you and your family the best!! Halfthrottle Panama will be missed! Maybe you should make Halfthrottle America for Central America in Spanish. Just a thought
You may have felt like you gave up on your dream, but perhaps you just took a different route to the most beneficial and fulfilling way to make videos/movies. As a RUclipsr you're one of the millions, in this new position, even though now you see yourself as 'in-house', you're in a smaller more specialist group & you have no idea the doors it can open further down the line ... perhaps your own production company for other big corporates? Do good work and others will notice. Well done, I bet there is more wonderful opportunities ahead.
hello, my friend its been a while that dint see your panama videos and just ran into this one its nice that you and family are in US and that everything is working the best for you, its funny because I have been doing my homework thinking about relocating to Panama, maybe I will keep getting more info on this, but it was good that you are still making videos and talking about your experiences. If someday you decide to travel to Panama and be a guide for someone that have never been there , I am interest on going and hired a guide.
Congrats to being recognized at what you do! Would you be able to share some of the safety videos? People may benefit from the seeing the concept and perhaps start doing the same at their own organization.
Cool story. Thanks for sharing. I totally feel you on the film making rut. It's hard to find the balance of producing content you are proud of and selling out to make a buck or not being true to yourself because you are putting financial pressure on something you love to get views. I find myself with the same quandary all the time. A lot of RUclipsrs focus only on the positive or don't include not so positive things in their videos. I find this disingenuous and misleading. On the flip I find myself too self conscious to expose the negative side of things or my failures or short comings. Exposing your vulnerabilities is the ultimate sign of courage because you are putting your insecurities out there for the world to see. In this social media age it's almost like social status suicide because everyone is always creating a facade of a perfect life. Anyway I'm rambling. Just wanted to say I enjoyed your video and congrats and best of luck on your in your new position. That's awesome that your initiative and creative thinking opened new doors and opportunities. Way to keep the faith, push forward and think outside the box. I came across your video while researching Panama. I'm thinking about traveling there and there isn't much info out there as there is about other tourist destinations. I'm glad I came across your channel. I'm definitely subscribing.
Hey, look at the bright side(s): I'm assuming you live in Elk Ridge, Utah, which by the looks of it is a beautiful place, with the Rockies as a backdrop, and you landed a nice gig (which you hopefully still have). As Elk Ridge is about a half hour from Midway (gorgeous place when we visited, BTW), there are MUCH worse places to live/work. Hopefully your wife has assimilated well there.
So glad things are coming good for you mate, and I think later you will be making videos or film commecially for the public ... well at least you should be with your style and skills ... I would watch for sure 👍
Congrats on your new job. I hope your wife gets further training to get into a residency program here in America. Look into border towns with Mexico for her to get her foot in the door.
In terms of ambition, today's aspirant content creator is yesterday's rock 'n roll artist. When they were younger, these guys likely had their hearts set on being a policeman or a firefighter, occupations that actually have content.
There I was thinking you had a good gig and good time being an electrictian. I had no idea you were in such a clusterfuck last time you mentioned it, glad to hear it's finally gotten better. Kinda makes me feel guilty about how I pressured you into leaving Panama and saying that surely your wife will find a good medical job, bloody hell.
+John Grammaticus I found a great article on NPR a while ago about how difficult it is for international medical graduates to get into the system in the USA. It's been very frustrating for my poor wife to not be able to use the skills she worked so hard to learn.
I knew a young lady from cetral america. She was at the ER once for a friend. She could speak english spanish portugese greek some french. She had to translate for spanish that day. The hospital started calling her in when they needed her. She worked her way into a job getting hov. Bennies for people in need so the hospitsl got paid. She woeked with mostly spanish and english speaking people who quailfied for adc etc. She got good at applying for assistance. Making about $1200 a week. The hospital loved her because of the income. Others loved her too becausr she was helping people with their financial dilemas. Someone drew her away from that job with a pie in the sky offer so now shes a tumbleweed again. No less happy for the ecperiences.
That would be really neat. I used to work in water utilities but never used any cast iron pipe (all plastic pipe). Now I work in electric utilities and buy cast iron poles for switch poles and system hardening.
My cousin hit a deer on his motorcycle, not good, verily he almost died. Riding there is like swimming in shark infested waters. In any case, your story, your desperate quest for health care insurance, is one many Americans can relate. We need to feel the Bern.
Great tuto... i always wanted to learn how to make U turns whith a Motorcycle ...lol all the time i was watching and listening that pain in your voice...i had one song poping up in my brain ...its a George Thorogood song....One bear one scotch and one bourbon.....😎
Congratulations on that not new position now! I just clicked on your video because the title had Panama in it...currently in Costa Rica for past 3 yrs and thinking about Panama.....Well I hope your wife finally got those papers....enjoy your familly now!

This video is very nice visually. What kind of camera do you use? I love stories about overcoming adversity. If everyone could just hang in there, they'd find things usually work out.
I think this was shot with a sony X-3000
Congratulations on the new job. Hope the wife and kid are doing well.
Sometimes dreams show up in ways that are totally different than we imagined. But they do happen.
What an interesting story. All the best, sounds like you've made some luck for yourself and you deserve it 👍
Best of luck to you. Enjoyed your Panama videos. Spent about 8 years there in 1975 when my husband was in the service there. Happiness!
Nice tour of Elkridge Utah !... What happened to Panama ?
So glad to hear you're hanging in there. It was guys like you and eveRide that inspired me to buy a KLR and get out there. Thanks.
Hey. Awesome TSS. Life gave you lemons and you moved thousands of miles away and then made gin and tonic. Nice.
You have earned the current situation, well deserved and may it continue.
Take care.
Glad you didn't hit that cute little fawn. So happy you get to do what you most enjoy doing again. Eric and I wish you every success.
God is good!! Jesus never lets us down!!!!
The Steel Horseman except hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, diseases that kill millions every year
Glad you made it. My favorite videos of yours were the "True Story Sunday" series. Stick with what got ya there, minus the motorcycle and you'll do great!
Hey dude sorry to hear of your troubles......I have been in Panama for a year now and loving it. Best of luck to you. I have my channel now as well.
That sucks ! You seem like a real person, I'm sorry that that happened to you and your wife. You don't deserve this shit, I wish I could help.
Where was this video taken? I'm a city man but even I gotta bow down to some beautiful scenery
+secregistrado look up "Training Within Industry"
You have found your niche, you have the gift of the gab, tell a good story have lots of practical experience both on the job and making film. You will be awesome at this.
Congrats on your new position. My best wishes for your continued success.
Really nice video and great conversation. Wonderful that you can get pay for doing what you love! Now, it has been almost a year and I am curious in your story....How is the wife, the baby and the job? I am also from Panama!
Good things sometimes happen to good people. Glad to hear things are on the upswing for you.
Great story & scenery , but for goodness do yourself a favour & buy a GPS so you will know which road to take.
James MacDonald .... you thought he was lost?😂 I was thinking he was getting closer to the beautiful mountain in the background for an awesome hike 😬👍🏼
What a complete idiot.OMG
So glad you are back, hope its not a one shot deal.
It's hard to make time, and RUclips isn't a priority at the moment but I'll try to get out there more often.
Congrats on getting that new position. All the best to you and your family.
hello, my friend its been a while that dint see your panama videos and just ran into this one its nice that you and family are in US and that everything is working the best for you, its funny because I have been doing my homework thinking about relocating to Panama, maybe I will keep getting more info on this, but it was good that you are still making videos and talking about your experiences. If someday you decide to travel to Panama and be a guide for someone that have never been there , I am interest on going and hired a guide.
So if you're happy then I'm happy. Good luck on the new job, and thanks for all the fun over the years.
Congratulations & good luck! Thanks for the update.
That was really inspiring story,mate..wish you all the best for upcoming projects..
regards,
Pritam

Where is this place in your video? Is this in Nevada?
I needed to hear this today. Thanks for sharing
This video sure made me homesick for the Sporty I used to ride. Beautiful!
Such a crazy story with a great ending...But wait...This is not the ending...But the beginning with many great stories yet to come!
Where were you riding in this video. Looks beautiful?
Sorry that you left Panama I am moving to Panama next week. Congrats on your job promotion and the new stability in life :)
Well deserved success, Ryan, congrats.
Cool vid. Great story, great ending. Thanks.
I learned how to change my motorcycle oil from your channel, but it didn't taste very good :P
Both of my pairents are from Panama and I wish I was born in Panama rather than the united states
Too many bugs.
W. Steve Joyner Skeet931 .... I remember growing up in the tropics and those 😱
Its up to you where your kids are born though. Could be Panama if that is better for you.
You will do a great job, relax you have all the skills and talent you need !
I've bought McWane poles before! Really cool that you're working there.
+CO45422 if you're ever near Provo Utah I'd be happy to take you on a tour so you can see how they're made.
That would be really neat. I used to work in water utilities but never used any cast iron pipe (all plastic pipe). Now I work in electric utilities and buy cast iron poles for switch poles and system hardening.
Hey man, great content. I want to visit Panama in October and I wish you give me some guidelines.
Thank the most High.
My cousin hit a deer on his motorcycle, not good, verily he almost died. Riding there is like swimming in shark infested waters. In any case, your story, your desperate quest for health care insurance, is one many Americans can relate. We need to feel the Bern.
Hi halfthrottle how are you currently doing? Has your wife been able to get into the US healthcare system?
Great tuto... i always wanted to learn how to make U turns whith a Motorcycle ...lol
all the time i was watching and listening that pain in your voice...i had one song poping up in my brain ...its a George Thorogood song....One bear one scotch and one bourbon.....😎
Where is this being filmed ? Nice area..
Congratulations on that not new position now! I just clicked on your video because the title had Panama in it...currently in Costa Rica for past 3 yrs and thinking about Panama.....Well I hope your wife finally got those papers....enjoy your familly now!
