    This episode is definitely a 10. Lord John is my favorite in this one, David Berry really did amazing. The convo with Jamie for one and then when he gets captured he is a little unhinged like "all this shit happening does not matter because Jamie is alive!"

    I loved this episode! Diana also said on her FB page that it's one of her favorites. I read some comments on FB where people were second guessing the characters; for example, Claire would never have slept with John because she loves Jamie so much. Even if he was dead, she wouldn't have. Well, I can only say that person has obviously never been devastated by grief. How lucky they are. Plus, they are Diana's characters so no one knows them better than her.
    I thought all the actors were spot on. But especially David Berry. He is so underrated.

      Exactly right. It honestly has always made sense to me... that doesn't mean its *comfortable* or fun to see them in so much pain... but people do things when they're drunk all the time. And as Jamie says, she is very physical. Rage and grief collided and they found a way to comfort each other.
      I think some viewers or readers confuse that uncomfortable feeling with it being uncharacteristic.. well guess what? They AREN'T acting like their normal characters at this moment so.... not sure what the problem is. haha! That's exactly the point.

    Also let’s not forget the Awesome writer,
    Toni Graphia, and the amazing Director, Lisa Clarke who brought the characters and actors to life with Toni’s writing script . The actors Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, David Berry, and others. You cannot go wrong with a writer on this scale and the director and actors to boot.
    This Episode gave us a plenty and damm good stuff. I can wait for the next episode. Thank you Toni, and Lisa for giving the audience so much to chat about. ❤

    This episode is definitely a 10.💚 I was totally happy to see how many scenes they took directly from the book.💚 However, I was not pleased with the love scene between Sam and Cait. I understand they could not do it exactly as the book. But, after all these years choreographing love scenes between Sam and Cait - they could have done better. Still loving Outlander, Season 7.💚 I also think, or I hope that next week's episode focus on Briana and Roger. I can't wait. Thanks for reading the passages out of the books. I love it. 💚💚

    I loved this episode so much! I am sad we won’t get the scene where Germaine tells Jamie “ Don’t hurt him grandper. I’m sure he won’t take granny back to bed now that your here to do it”😂

      I know! Truly my only regrets are certain missing characters. Especially the young Frasers!

    • @Adrienne1eh
      @Adrienne1eh 10 дней назад +1

      Especially Germaine! 😊
      I also miss the Hal/Jenny/Claire stuff. And when Lord John was taken by the rebels and they find that letter reactivating his commission, in my head I was just hearing "Bloody Hal!". 😂
      Loopy Lord John cracked me up! I would have loved to get John singing in German at the top of his lungs in the rebel camp! Well, it wouldn't have made sense without Dottie there. Too bad though. (David Berry has the voice for it too!)
      The highlight of the ep. for me was Claire and Jamie's talk. Wow! Just, wow!
      Do also love William's arc, and Charles Vandervart(sp?) is nailing it!
      Yeah, every scene was important, from the book, and really well done!

    I think this season is my favorite after season 1 and 2! I love the background music and when they show the different locations and Lord John’s house is gorgeous 🤯♥️♥️♥️!

      So good! They have really hit their stride. I'm sad there is only so much left but I'd rather they go out strong and give me something I love to revisit.

    These scenes in the last episode and this are some of my favourite parts in Outlander! I love seeing them so much. I'm kinda bummed that we get to see Jane, but no Jenny, Dottie and I want Hal in particular (because he is hilarious). Denzel is so cute, gah Lord John and William, just everything was so good.

    This was a great episode! When Jamie goes back to talk to Claire you could see that he was angry with her too. And when she said she was ready to kill herself his face changed. I loved when he said "I'm jealous... " and "I will make a fuss about it later". You know I was thinking... Claire is quick to violence for a doctor. She beat the shit out of John. She has slapped Jamie at least three times that come to mind right now. And she even threw that ashtray at Frank. All people she supposedly cares for. I also loved the George Washington scene. How he was sitting there and the flags were behind him. But... I'm ready for some Brianna action...they dragged her storyline so much I'm dying here...

    This is just my opinion, we'll have to wait til next week (possibly two) to find out, but Jane will be back or they wouldn't have bothered with the speech from Harkness.

    This was a great episode and I agree, it’s mostly from the bpok(s). I did notice some of the explanation Claire gave to William was a conversation he had with Jamie in the books. So I wonder what conversation the two of them will have.

    • @TheBookRefuge
      @TheBookRefuge  12 дней назад

      Yeah, that's a good thing to notice! Maybe William will ask him more details later. Since Claire was trying to be gentle about it.

    Thank you for this and the part about John Gray because I would hate for him to die. He doesn’t deserve the terrible treatment he got even though I understand why Jamie reacted the way he did.

    • @TheBookRefuge
      @TheBookRefuge  12 дней назад +1

      Yes, something I forgot to mention in my review, and I'll mention it next recap... I believe John purposely used those words to make Jamie mad and get him to punch him. Since a beating is the only type of touch Jamie will give him...
      That's how I felt in the book anyway. But yeah, Jamie goes a bit overboard. That damn temper. Also, John in the books is over a foot shorter than Jamie. 5' 5", I believe..... So he's really wailing on him.

    I loved this episode. William's arc is one of my favorites in this book, and I have been eagerly awaiting this episode! I am surprised at how "from the book" the scenes are. I was a GOT fan and the further they got in the series, the further away from the source material it got. Outlander seems to be doing the opposite and I am so here for it.
    A few thoughts. Jane's Character is different than I had envisioned. She looks and sounds like a country girl in the show and I don't hate that for her but it's not what I envisioned.
    Lord John's loopiness threw me off a bit, and that last love scene was incredibly awkward, but I think they have been for a couple seasons. I have a theory that Sam was in love with Cait, that they had a secret fling, and that Cait moved on but Sam didn't and now their chemistry on screen is just weird. I wouldn't be surprised if this is on purpose on Cait's side tbh
    anyways thats my crackpot theory

    • @TheBookRefuge
      @TheBookRefuge  11 дней назад

      Well, first I will address this crackpot theory because I am here for some cracki-ness. haha! I think that is a really interesting observation. At a minimum they are super close friends and how can you not at least have had a crush at one point in the last decade?
      It's strange because I know they got an Intimacy Coordinator who started with Season 6. And since they are someone who not only helps "coordinate" said intimacy, they also advocate for the stars and help them set better boundaries. Almost all of their love scenes since then have been with clothes on. I actually just rewatched 6 and the first half of 7, so I noticed that.
      Now, some of this could be because Cait was pregnant during season 6, so that could be an added factor, they had to get pretty creative. Maybe they also wanted to save some money and not show Sam's back too often. with Jamie's scars. LOLS!
      However, since the IC started, I think the Mackenzie love scenes have been GREATLY improved. In my opinion anyway.. that scene in the trailer?! Holy Hannah!
      Either way, though I did find it a bit cringe-y, I still think they get all the other kinds of closeness right. And the words out of their mouths are dialog right from the book, which I'll take any day of the week.
      Thanks for the nice little theory. And now you see my crackpot side too. Bahahaha! Thanks for watching.
