As a devoted fan of LeCarré and of "Tinker Tailor...." and particularly of Alec Guiness' portrayal of GS I have to say this was a brilliant sketch. Harry's impersonation of Guiness' little mannerisms combined with Paul's take on Gary Oldman's careworn Smiley are awesome. Thanks for finding and posting.
Yes indeed. They performed another sketch which lampooned panel shows, with exactly the same result. I love Hislop and Merton as individuals, on HIGNFY, and the program in general, but the mockery was perfectly done.
🎉 Top class, a great take on both the recent GSs. If they'd had an engraved Ronson lighter on Control's desk, then whoever picked it up and explained the Delhi cell scene and how the lighter was lost, would be the real GS.😮
Nobody is funnier and wittier than the British. Rule Brittania! If America was still under the Monarchy then it would be a funnier country with witty people instead of the miserable place that it has become.
There are at least half a dozen US comedies far funnier than anything on Brit TV.! You obviously haven't watched British telly lately. ?!? How we used to sneer at American TV at how shallow and vacuous it was . Well , we caught up and even overtook them in that department !!
Good Smiley off...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣... got both of the spot on. Oldman's depressed exasperated sigh was spot on.

Amazing and affectionate. They clearly know the books and the adaptations very well.

This is high art
''Use the force, Luke''
This is simply, brilliant! : )
Simon Greenall playing a character a million miles away from Alan Partridge's Geordie dogsbody, Mike. Three great character actors in one room!
Wouldn't have realised if you hadn't mentioned it.
Paul Whitehouse's Gary Oldman is terrifyingly accurate!
"Michael, that was just noise", AP
The Gary Oldman Smiley has a sort of John Hurt vibe...
Brilliant, simply brilliant. Although George didn’t use the fat end of his tie here.
Careless!!!
Interesting reference to Gary Oldmans film Nil by mouth😂
Top draw Bobchick.
They forgot the George Smiley in The Spy who came in from the cold.
That was Rupert Davies
No.
I really don’t think.
They did.
Arguably the one who best matched the descriptions of what Smiley looked like.
