My mom used to do Blythe photography back in the 2000s. She had a rosebud model and she gave her to me when I was in college. She is everythinggggg to me and I can always tell who is cool by who comes over and freaks out about her
i feel like the whole 'supporting the og artists' argument against fakies makes a whole lot more sense when talking about BJDs by indie artists and not factory produced blythes
The team at CWC that designs authentic Blythe are still a small team. Supporting custom artists who make the dolls look nothing like real Blythe but still call it Blythe and steal the base designs from Allison Katzman, Junko Wong, and her CWC team is not the flex you think it is.
All the Artists use factory produced Blythes as a canvas. Some artists just spend more on their canvas and are luxury artists. DON'T THROW TANTRUMS BECAUSE YOU CAN'T AFFORD BLYTHE COUTURE
I had a lps horseback rider Blythe. Eventually, my play style cause her head to fall off. It never went back in place so I used her head and body as the headless horseman or a zombie. The same things would later happen to Snow White, Cinderella and Rapunzel. My family called me doll killer.
I accidentally ripped off my barbie's head as a kid. It was the only official barbie doll I ever had. I'd had plenty of dollar store ones as a kid, and if their heads ever came off, they could be jammed back on easily because of the cheap, pliable plastic. But official barbie? No dice. Her head wasn't malleable enough, and IT TOOK A CHUNK OF THE NECK WITH IT!! HOW?!
same i hated blythe sm i thought she was so creepy and i associated her with the death of the golden age of lps so she got hate by association 😭 now that i’m older i think she’s cute
These dolls reminds me Kerli and her "Bubble Goth" aesthetic! I love the union of cute and creepy, me, that always loved horror movies and also disney princesses movies. So happy a new video is out! Your channel is a Refuge ❤
Kerali though worked with bjd. I remember the doll artist because she was in the doll groups at the time. You can still find photos and interviews about it.
Thank you so much for the effort you put into making and properly researching this video ❤ I've been collecting Blythe since 2010, and while it's lovely to see her getting so much attention lately and reaching new audiences, there's also a lot of misinformation out there that's confusing to new collectors.
i grow up with Blythe from Japanese media so when i saw lps Blythe i got confused but end up with time knowing more dolls of the similar style like Pullip
I think these dolls are reminiscent of shell-shocked warriors more than anything, but I'm certain that thier history will be entertaining. I cannot wait to observe the video. I adore your work so much, Strawberry! You always make me happy 💜❤️
I didn’t like dolls as a kid, I was lps kid but I had this collab!!! Me recognizing the doll still from the thumbnail is wild, shows how unique the design is.
I still have my blythe loves lps doll, weirdly i have the mouse with a bow but the doll itself is the one that comes with a cream pony. I remember not really caring for her, I didn't like dolls at all, but i kept her bc her little white sweater was surprisingly thick and felt really nice compared to my friends barbie clothing. Maybe if I find her I'll put her on my doll shelf and apologize, shes just a little thing afterall
On using fake blythes for customizing- a similar things happened int he furby community. When I was making my furby, I opted for a resin cast of the furby face plate (sometimes called a vegan faceplate) because I didnt want to disassemble my working 90's furbs. The old furbies are "endangered" so I beleive in keeping them as is over doing a custom job.
I think thats actually pretty different though. For one its only the face plate and two the peope selling the face plate usually aren't also selling straight up furby counterfeits which factory blythe sellers often are counterfeits
best video ever! i started collecting fashion dolls in 2022 (monster high etc) and used to think Blythe was so weird and kinda ugly!! omg. if i only knew. when the blythe tiktkoks exploded it made me look at her in a whole other way and i started my new blythe obsession! i now have 3 real blythes and a fakie and LOVE photographing them. she makes me so happy!!
47:46 no this is so real, my interests recently have become so childish and that isn’t a bad thing at all but my peers and parents make me feel like a anomaly of some sorts, I’m 20 now and I’m a toy collector so you can probably understand what they think ab it lol 😭 pandemic growth stunt ruined so many things goshhh

this video is sooo good! i was so surprised when i learned blythe was originally american because i associate her so much with japan. we did her so dirty :( i love how blythe is another example of usa and japan cross inspiration. my first introduction to blythe was thru the littlest pet shop cartoon and then because i used to customize american girl dolls and they share a wig size. her history reminds me of american girl dolls in other ways too, like them both being childlike and a little creepy + the photography and customizing scene becoming the main consumer of the brand!
when i was super little, i read all of my mom's old comic books over and over again (Casper the Friendly Ghost, Archie, Richie Rich, etc). the paper was brown and literally crumbled in my hands. and between the stories there were ads for Hawaiian Punch, Cocoa Pebbles, and of course, Blythe. i wanted Blythe so so bad. i thought she was the prettiest doll in the world and her eyes changed color like magic?? and one of the colors was violet gray? but i knew these comics were decades old. i can't tear out the perforated write-in postcard and send it to the address to get a chance at a free subscription to brand-new Archie comics, and Blythe doesn't exist anymore. i had no idea there was a revival, or i would have begged my parents for a Takara Blythe!
thank you for the education!! gina garan's story is inspiring. very grateful you mentioned littlest pet shop, that's how i found blythe and i liked them too!

Thank you so much for this informative and well edited video! You have a great voice to listen to and the aesthetic of the vid is peak. I actually learned of Blythe early in my childhood, well before the LPS ones were released. We found some of her clothes in my mom's box of Barbies, and she wistfully said that she had a Blythe doll somewhere in my grandma's house, but we couldn't find it. (Same with her Dawn Dolls.) Fast forward 20 years, and we were finally cleaning out grandma's house to sell it and WE FOUND HER! Iirc I dated her to after 1972 based on the lines on the back of her head, and she is in amazing shape because my mom's family was poor and she took extremely good care of the few toys she had. She even still has some of her original outfits--Golden Goddess (what she wears right now,) Love N Lace, and I think we also have Pretty Paisley! I did have one of the LPS Blythes, she had purple hair and was a glow in the dark fairy kind of doll. "Moonlight Fairies" was the name. I did let her go tho, didn't do much with her. I actually collected other dolls before I seriously got interested in my mom's doll when we found her; and through other collectors definitely became aware of how BIG the Blythe community was. I'd love to get or make some more clothes for her, condition and restyle her hair and take pics of her, but it was super daunting to figure out where to even start and this video has been EXTREMELY helpful! She needs shoes lol! She's a side-part redhead if anyone's curious. :)
This was so helpful! I've been trying to get into Blythe but was intimated by confusing the customs vs original dolls. Your aesthetic and sound design is just so gorgeous and inviting amazing work!!! 🌸‼💫🤍🍃🌻
i have always loved blythe. i liked her in lps. i love that the doll mold hasn't changed, same with bratz. if it ain't broke don't fix it! (cough barbie cough). my favorite customs are the ones that change the eyeliner shape tho and the eyelashes.
it was my dream to have a blythe doll since I was like 10 (I'm currently 27). They always felt so mysterious and unique, they are cute and spooky at the same time. like a time burton's movie
I only really learned about Blythe as a side effect of getting really into the Furby community and customization a couple years ago, as Blythe dolls and Furbys share the same eyechip size, so that part is often advertized on Etsy as being for both toys, and I've very quickly fallen in love! I think it's one part just her look and the customization community, and one part feeling a strong sense of solidarity with that community in regards to "loving this thing that you think is cute that many others regard as creepy or even scary," coming from the Furby community, lol. I don't have any myself and doubt I'd be able to ever afford an official one, but some day I may look into the cheaper options!
I first heard of Blythe dolls through LPS too! I was a bit skeptical at first but also very quickly became a big fan. It was towards the end of my LPS phase, and I felt a little embarrassed about asking my parents for one (they probably would’ve gotten one for me if I had).
I still own the lps Blythe doll with the little horse, and I really didn’t like her as a child. But now that I’m older I love her, she’s so unsettling she’s cute
im so glad the yt reccomended brought me here, this video was so well done and your voice is so relaxing to listen to :> ive been dreaming of owning my own blythe for years but ive been holding off until i can afford the genuine article, this video is just making me long even more for a mini me to dress up :')
i love blythe dolls so much i haven't been into dolls for the past couple years because i'm a boy and kids are mean but my best friend is a doll collector and i decided to customize a blythe(it was a rip off i'm a teenager and honestly can't spend that much on a gift) to look like her for her birthday and honestly my fascination with dolls is very much back i think in a few weeks i might start looking for a model to make look like me
I didn't even know that I owned a blythe as a child whaaattt 😭💖the lps collab brunette with red jacket and skates! That's so crazy I've wanted a blythe for so long, sad that I no longer have that one!!
i had the treat shop blythe / lps set and i LOVED the lps it came with and the cute little chairs for them to sit on. i was so confused about who the girl was, i already had another blythe from a previous lps set (cant remember which one but she had blonde hair.) I pretty much never played with them and i remember really disliking the fashion 😅 As an adult, i always wondered what was up with that. it felt like a fever dream and literally no one i knew had ever heard of blythe. i think the "real" blythe dolls are very beautiful and creepy and such a cool concept. thanks for sharing!!
I'm a straight guy and I love this video ! So glad it was recommended ! I got my first Custom Blythe last week .. but now I already own 4 gorgeous and unique customs that were all made by very talented veteran artists ( 3 TBL fakes and 1 original Ob24 ) Im a collector of many forms of Art but Blythe is extra special.. They have an ora about them and those eyes will suck you in for sure 🤩 Super photogenic and so much fun to dress them up in cute Lolita outfits
There is something my brain doesn't like about any character design where the eyes are so low that they match or dip below the level of the nose; Betty Boop, the MLP reboots, Blythe, Funkos. Don't like the appearance of any of them. HOWEVER, while they are not my cup of tea, I am not a real hater. I do love toys and this was a fascinating deep dive into this interesting doll. I can see how the eye gimmick lends itself to photography as you can have them looking in different directions. The original outfits are pretty cute and the way customizers are going ham on them is amazing. Customizing dolls is super fun. Can confirm. Toys and dolls are a fun, harmless hobby and it's sad that adults get so much flack for being into them.
I love your videos so much they give me nostalgia so much I've never heard of Blythe but only the littlest pet shop version but now I am inloved with her she is so cute but I'll definitely buy one on Ailexpress😊
I remember as a little girl around 2004 or 5 i saw a collectors magazine at the grocery store with blythe and forced my mom to buy it. It wasnt until another 10 yrs i saw her again on tumblr i realized i didnt make her up. I still dont own one but i will eventually ! Little 10 yr old me will be so happy.
I'm more into furbies and I really wish there was a fakie market for them like with blythe dolls. the popularity of customizing and things like long furbies have made the prices go up drastically and made it much harder to get a furb for both customizers and people who want og furbs. having a source for g1 furby bootlegs would be amaaaazing
I went to high school from 2005-2009 and Blythe was pretty big with alternative people because of that book and the spread of it online. I never liked them. I don't find them creepy or cute. They're just meh to me. The eye mechanism is genius, though.
It’s been two months so maybe you won’t see it, but I love your videos so much! I’ve started to binge watch all of them. But I am hard of hearing so I put the volume all the way up and the bell transition sounds are a bit jarring. I don’t know anything about video editing but if the volume can come down a lil bit that would be awesome. Sorry for the critique, I just genuinely love your content and the way you speak and will continue to watch your videos regardless
I love this video! Its so beautifully done and edited! I entered the doll world through Monster High but atm I’m a tad obsessed with Blythe dolls! I really want to save up for a mini me!
I never knew these existed. Now I want to see if I can find that book from that photographer lady. Please do more video essays on other toys such as these, that may be have been overshadowed or something 😊 I really appreciate the research you put into these videos you make.
I have been in the Blythe community since I was about 13 years old back in 2011 and I will just say that to this day I would absolutely give up a kidney to own a real Miss Sally Rice she is my white whale
Yay!! Seeing a new upload is always such a nice treat 🥰 Time to relax and learn the in-depth lore of something I didn’t know existed until today. Also slayed the ‘living doll’ look!
Your voice is so relaxing to listen to coming from someone who's neurodivergent. Honestly, these videos deserve way more views, in my opinion. They're so thoroughly researched and every segment is given just the right amount of time that nothing ever overstays its welcome. I've watched your videos since I came across your "Disney Fairies" review and even as an autistic adult male, learning the history behind nostalgic toys, whether made for boys or girls in mind, is fascinating. If I had to pick out my favourite of your videos though, it'd be the Build-a-Bear one. If I'm being honest, you're one of the main reasons why I collect figurines, keychains and other things that people might consider childish, or ignorant of my age, but I don't care. One of these days, I'm planning to deep-dive into Power Rangers, Thundercats, Transformers, Action Man and other boy-centric material as a fun contrast. But honestly, being a former brony, I've always wanted to collect the ponies too. I love the visually appealing designs each unicorn, pegasus and earth pony has, and the uniqueness of each of their names. Less so with Bratz, Barbie and the Monster High/Ever After High brands, but I understand their appeal. Littlest Pet Shop always felt unisex to me, even if it was targeted towards girls in mind. Regardless, I've remained a firm subscriber of your videos for a long time, and its thanks to your content that I've subscribed to similar channels like LulaLoopsey and Athena P.
Also, I never realised that "Blythe" from the Littlest Pet Shop television series got her name from this doll brand. (Unless that's coincidental). But considering the way she's designed in the show with the big eyes and small petite mouth, I'm pretty sure that might be the case. Which would fit quite well given their collaboration. Edit: I was right! 😂 And, I guess I'm the only one who likes the G4 designs. But considering the fact that I also prefer the G4 designs of the ponies, that isn't too much of a surprise. However, there is a lot that I like about every generation. The simplicity of G1, the adventurousness of G2, the colourfulness of G3 and then, the vibrancy in G4. I haven't seen much in regards to G5 on LPS's side, but I feel like the theme nowadays would be Nostalgia, since that's how MYM and TYT feel to me.
🥺 can we get a furby video?? fun fact; furby and blythe share eye chip size so you can buy the same custom eyes for furby or blythe :3 i’d love to hear you talk about furbies as i’m an avid collector :) just an idea, keep up the good work!!
China is much ahead technologically, and these dolls, the raw material is made in china I believe, then in Japan, or wherever they paint these dolls, dress them up, create a story around them, put them in a nice box, and sell them for a higher price.....I think uniquely customized one of a kind dolls are different, otherwise they are all factory dolls, coming from japanese factory, or chinese or others.....on Aliexpress at least there are various face templates, all kinds of skin colour,.. the japanese dolls look quite the same to me, beautiful, but same....
Ok so I watched this video 3 times, one of the viewings I made my boyfriend watch in full so he would understand why I'm about to buy this creepy a** doll😅💖. Also just really love the liminal vibes and the Animal Crossing sounds🥹 I'm obsessed with your style of video!!! I also was debating between an Icy doll and a Takara doll I found at a local vintage toy store for $200😭 but after the video I'm 100% getting an Ali Express, I can actually get the exact color and style I want that way! Also also, I went and hunted down at a vintage mall for your LPS kitty, which is my first and only LPS I'll buy 😅
I blame you for the money I'm going to spend on a vintage Blythe doll now, thanks;) I had no idea their eyes changed colour, or how much I now need to have one I can restore, make a zillion clothes for, and do photoshoots of.. And I'm not a doll person
Hii! I just want to say thank youu so much for making this video! I learned soo much when watching and at the same time also liked the music, style, and aesthetic you added for the video :D
I got into collectible dolls in 2007 with Pullips (well, Taeyangs), and of course knew about Blythe too. When the LPS show was released and I saw they had Blythe as the MC, I was like, people don't know!!! they don't know it's *Blythe*!!! lol seeing the LPS Blythe dolls in the stores was a trip. Over 15 years later I am still more of a Pullip fan, but I'm starting to consider getting a Blythe doll too...
why cant Hasbro or Good Smile sell this in stores for a decent price?. This seems highly desirable but people collecting this more likely have bootlegs. this doesn't feel to far from something i could find at Hot Topic or Spencers. i guess the eyes make it more difficult to make than other fashion dolls but i wouldn't think it be a lot more harder
Love doll collecting but always stayed away from blythe dolls due to the uncanniness, but watching this video I think I can understand why people like them so much. There's something creepy yet cute about them. 😄 I remember when I was in high school and getting into lolita, ofc being a kid I couldn't dish $300 on 1 dress so I would opt for the off brands. Wish people would stop being so judgmental about it. Yes ethically it's not supporting the original artists, but let us poor people enjoy and live our best lives too.
i have one blythe coming with a lps but i dont like dolls, i buy it only for the pet and find her ugly, so i never play with her 😭i dont where she is now😭
Thanks to this video I found out that I have a LPS Blythe! Recently a discover the doll but I never realize that it was the same that I had since I was a child! This made me very happy 😸💓 Edit: just to clarify, I have this type of Blythe 21:21
I totally think she could have been more appealing to kids if they didn’t give her such dark, small, and intense pupils; or simply just made the pupils larger. The harshness of the contrast between the iris and pupils really gives her the “I want to steal your soul look” lol ^=^
Wauw what a informatieve video i have 2 dolls from Ali and chlothes self made and Vinted and i love them i have a friend who is Pullip collector Bud we have doll meetings how Manny blythe dolls do you have? ❤

im so glad the yt reccomended brought me here, this video was so well done and your voice is so relaxing to listen to :> ive been dreaming of owning my own blythe for years but ive been holding off until i can afford the genuine article, this video is just making me long even more for a mini me to dress up :')
i love blythe dolls so much i haven't been into dolls for the past couple years because i'm a boy and kids are mean but my best friend is a doll collector and i decided to customize a blythe(it was a rip off i'm a teenager and honestly can't spend that much on a gift) to look like her for her birthday and honestly my fascination with dolls is very much back i think in a few weeks i might start looking for a model to make look like me
I got into the Blythe hobby in 2014 and I never expected tiktok of all places to be so fascinated with them
I didn't even know that I owned a blythe as a child whaaattt 😭💖the lps collab brunette with red jacket and skates! That's so crazy I've wanted a blythe for so long, sad that I no longer have that one!!
Great video, I wasn't even on the bythe side of TikTok but I'll watch whatever you made I swear. Your presence is so so comforting!
this video goes so hard n now im thinking how cool it'd be if you made a monster high deep dive aaaaaaaaa
i had the treat shop blythe / lps set and i LOVED the lps it came with and the cute little chairs for them to sit on. i was so confused about who the girl was, i already had another blythe from a previous lps set (cant remember which one but she had blonde hair.)
I pretty much never played with them and i remember really disliking the fashion 😅
As an adult, i always wondered what was up with that. it felt like a fever dream and literally no one i knew had ever heard of blythe. i think the "real" blythe dolls are very beautiful and creepy and such a cool concept. thanks for sharing!!
I'm a straight guy and I love this video ! So glad it was recommended !
I got my first Custom Blythe last week .. but now I already own 4 gorgeous and unique customs that were all made by very talented veteran artists ( 3 TBL fakes and 1 original Ob24 )
Im a collector of many forms of Art but Blythe is extra special.. They have an ora about them and those eyes will suck you in for sure 🤩 Super photogenic and so much fun to dress them up in cute Lolita outfits
I ‘m 15 and I want Blythe dolls !! But my parents are like.. "maybe for Christmas " ;(
What I will never understand is why the fakes have absolutely amazing hair and the authentic blythe's hair is awful
I love your content and in soooo happy that you made this video on these dolls :)
Now I want a 70s Blythe 😭
I remember as a little girl around 2004 or 5 i saw a collectors magazine at the grocery store with blythe and forced my mom to buy it. It wasnt until another 10 yrs i saw her again on tumblr i realized i didnt make her up. I still dont own one but i will eventually ! Little 10 yr old me will be so happy.
As someone who collects lps and mh dolls.. HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS?!
I like these dolls my favorite part is how there eyes change colors.
your videos are always so relaxing to watch, even tho this doll is scary you found a way to make this all settling lmaoooo
that means a lot because i have been watching your videos for a few years now,, tysm for watching
7:12 the Minecraft zombie noise made me laugh so hard mentally
I'm more into furbies and I really wish there was a fakie market for them like with blythe dolls. the popularity of customizing and things like long furbies have made the prices go up drastically and made it much harder to get a furb for both customizers and people who want og furbs. having a source for g1 furby bootlegs would be amaaaazing
TIL Blythe doll was connected to the LPS show I grew up watching and I've been unknowingly watching Blythe doll customization vids on insta😭
i love blythes and how you can be creative w them :3
I love all your videos’ aesthetic. It’s like being in a magical forest will my my favorite childhood toys in it ❤
The second I hear your voice, my worries and my mind melt away 🫠❤ so soothing
My sisters love Blythe they’re just so captivating
I went to high school from 2005-2009 and Blythe was pretty big with alternative people because of that book and the spread of it online. I never liked them. I don't find them creepy or cute. They're just meh to me. The eye mechanism is genius, though.
You should make a room tour :>
Correct! I wholly support that ❤️💜
welcome back strawberry sprite
I had no idea Blythe from lps was meant to be the Blythe doll ! I loved the show, though I never had any of the toys
THIS IS SO COOL I HAD NO IDEA BLYHE EXISTED OUTSIDE OF LPS
I never knew these existed. Now I want to see if I can find that book from that photographer lady. Please do more video essays on other toys such as these, that may be have been overshadowed or something 😊 I really appreciate the research you put into these videos you make.
GOING FERAL NEW STRAWBERRY SPRITE VIDEO
Strawberry!!! I literally was just thinking about how much i wish you would post a new video!! Dreams DO come true!
And, I guess I'm the only one who likes the G4 designs.
I love you strawberry sprite, fun video essays for feminine topics that alot of people don't cover 🙏

are all male blythe dolls dupes? i want a mini me too
🥺 can we get a furby video?? fun fact; furby and blythe share eye chip size so you can buy the same custom eyes for furby or blythe :3 i’d love to hear you talk about furbies as i’m an avid collector :) just an idea, keep up the good work!!
I want one so badly but they scare my partner so much
😂😂 they scare my daughter. I have 32 of them
i had always seen these dolls around but i never knew what she was, so this is was a surprisingly topical video for me. thank you
China is much ahead technologically, and these dolls, the raw material is made in china I believe, then in Japan, or wherever they paint these dolls, dress them up, create a story around them, put them in a nice box, and sell them for a higher price.....I think uniquely customized one of a kind dolls are different, otherwise they are all factory dolls, coming from japanese factory, or chinese or others.....on Aliexpress at least there are various face templates, all kinds of skin colour,.. the japanese dolls look quite the same to me, beautiful, but same....
blythe kingdom shall never fall ⚔
WE MISSED U!!!
Tysm for the effort but into this video! I have loved Blythe dolls, ever since my mother got me one, when I was very young! They mean so much to me!
i have one blythe coming with a lps but i dont like dolls, i buy it only for the pet and find her ugly, so i never play with her 😭i dont where she is now😭
Thanks to this video I found out that I have a LPS Blythe! Recently a discover the doll but I never realize that it was the same that I had since I was a child! This made me very happy 😸💓
Edit: just to clarify, I have this type of Blythe 21:21
I totally think she could have been more appealing to kids if they didn’t give her such dark, small, and intense pupils; or simply just made the pupils larger. The harshness of the contrast between the iris and pupils really gives her the “I want to steal your soul look” lol ^=^
Omg what happened to your tinker bell video😢
I have it and more in a playlist on my channel
@@franl5488angelll
I own a fake blythe because I'm practicing carving. There's no way I'd ruin a $1k doll.
I found ur channel today and I was in love your voice is so soft and ur astetic his so cute ❤I definitely subscribe ❤❤
