It's pretty simple. Let's say P for pickuppable, S for stompable, WO for walks off edges, NWO for not WO. Then:

WO goomba galoomba
NWO goombrat goombud
They could have made it so goom- means stompable, galoom- means pickuppable, and -brat means NWO, but apparently they just didn't like "galoombrat" :).
Or even galoombud!

One fact you can use to remember the names is that galoombas were introduced in SMW, and they stay there: they’re only in SMW style. (Also SMW has two variations that aren’t standard goomba)
Now goombrats are in every other style…because…brats are everywhere?… 🤷♂️
…or since goombrats were introduced later in the Mario games you can say “Kids these days…” 😛
And I guess you can say gUHloomba and goomBUHd…

I remember a level than carls play whit a weird elaborete mecanic is the poison ball thats yoshi eat et split which will kill the bomb whitout melt the ice ( because is poison and not fire ) . So ist kind of sad thats do not happen so much.
