- As broadcast live on WLWT Cincinatti. This show aired shortly after the "50 Club" went "National" on the NBC network. Stars Ruth Lyons (who may have invented the entire idea of a "talk show" on TV) and Willie Thall. This may be one of the only surviving episodes.

Used to watch Ruth Lyons ALL the time when I was a kid, along with my mother and grandmother!! This is AWESOME!!
I grew up in Cinci from '70-76, so I remember her as well as Bob Braun and Paul Dixon. A really nice copy too.
Ruth Lyons was a big thing in the Cincinnati OH area , the natural celebrities would make sure they appeared on her show when in the area ,
Never heard if her. Than again, it looks like a local program from Cincinnati and Im from LA. Way before my time and my parents never mentioned her before. Looks like a fun show, thanks.
Ruth ran locally on radio and TV in Cincinnati for about 25 years, then her show carried on for another 20 years after her retirement. This looks to be from one of a couple brief periods when the show was carried on the network. She was a tough, in-charge woman at a time when women weren't supposed to be tough. She was known for dragging her commercials out for long periods (like Arthur Godfrey). There was always a months or even years-long waiting list, not just for audience seats but for sponsors! Everyone wanted Ruth to extoll the virtues of their product, but she was very selective. There are several books out about Ruth.
