If the steering wheel is obstructing the dials, you are doing it wrong. Adjust your seat up, or adjust your steering wheel down. Adjusting the steering wheel so that it's in the way of the dials is just as easy in a "normal" car as in a Peugeot. I own a 2019 Peugeot 508, and I really have to purposely adjust the steering wheel in a certain fashion for it to obstruct the dials. I guess some motoring journalist really really want it to be a known fact that this steering wheel is a design flaw...
I also own a 2019 508 and I kinda agree with them. You have to make a compromise between seeing the dails completely and the optimum position for driving. But I don't think it is as bad as they present it. Only a small portion of the dails is not visible the way I've got it set. But that does not have any important information on it. Only the odo meter is there. I got used to the small steering wheel and I quite like it now. it makes it feel more sporty. In fact when I drive my girlfriends car with a normal size steering wheel it really feels enormous now.
I agree. I have sat in all of the new Pugs over the last 2 years, and I am 5’8.5 AND I have absolutely no issue in finding a good position weigh the wheel! Personally I think it is just journalist trying to find something to complain about because it is a Peugeot! I don’t think they can handle they Peugeot are making great cars
Ive owned a few of the newer pugs with the smaller steering wheel, the 208 and 308 can just intrude on the bottom of the dials but the later cars like the 3008 (owned 2 of these, no issues with the steering wheel) and test drove a 508 GT Line, also no issues with the smaller wheel, it feels nicer than the one i have in my RCZ, so weird having to look through a sterring wheel now.
The steering wheel is brilliant I am upgrading to a 508 Sw , I have a 308 Sw GT line with all extras , I am giving this to my son as it has only 35000 on the clock , my wife has a 208 all have the small wheel and I completely disagree with anyone who says it don’t feel right , most of my driving is Motorway , the wheel gives all these cars a sporty look and drive experience and great on winding twisty roads when in sport mode . Ladies love the small wheel too.
Not sure if this is a fair comparison, different trim levels, powertrain and options. Try a Mondeo ST-line... or a regular 508 with hybrid powetrain...
I think the 508 is a new car, whilst the Mondeo is a facelift. But they are both great cars, and people will choose them based on their personal preferences.
A video about estates and you mentioned a couple of times that ‘it’s all about the room in the boot’ but never showed the boot space on the 508 once. A slight reference to the Mondeo boot and battery infringement but nothing on the 508. Strange for an estate review.
Come on guys - I have had a 308 for 4 years now, and I am mega happy with the small steering wheel - The I Cockpit - it is super nice to drive with especially when driving in the city - Are you not a little quilted guys?
Excuse me, but - at the end of the program you say about the Peugeot that you don't really have any criticism, but - you both agree that the steering wheel is no good while driving it!???
I'm confused. You actually mention that people buy an estate for the amount of boot space, yet you dont compare boot space! The whole rest of the car is pointless if it doesnt have enough room to carry what you need to carry
Ah please, will you car reviewers stop bleeting on about that steering wheel, I've had one for three years now, and trust me, after getting used to it, a normal sized steering wheel feels way bigger compared to it, than that felt small to a normal one, and please reviewers, stop going in about the climate controls, gee wiz you have to press one piano key to access it,, talk about making a mountain out if a mole hill.
I've got the 508 SW First Edition GT 225 bhp Petrol version in Twilight Blue with the Red Napa Leather the colour combinations complement each other for sure, its a wicked vehicle to drive it really turns heads where ever I go. I've got a full Maxton Design Body kit to go on the vehicle & I'm saving for some BC Forged rims which cost an arm & a leg, but |I know the PUG is going to look wicked once I've added my own personal details & trip bits Its gong to look awesome. But what I will say is that Peugeot really need to listen to owners of this brand, about the niggly issues with this brand.
personally I thought it was a crap review, the car were not like for like. there was no mention of fuel return, optional extras, technical information on the highbred. how many miles it would do before the engine kicked in a completely unfair review and bios towards the Peugeot just because he liked the looked of it.
TBF I looked at both cars before choosing the Peugeot hybrid. It terms of drive there is not much between the hybrids, however the ford interior is absolutely trash. I mean really really bad. Its just cheap plastic everywhere and irt squeaks every time you run over a bump. Peugeot is also more generous with options such as auto pilot/adaptive cruise and active suspension etvc
The 508 is simply stunning. Best buy of the two.

The 508 SW must be the best looking estate car out there. 🤩🤩🤩👌👌👌
I think you guys should have comapared the 508 with the vignale, as that is one off the top modells off the 508, but not off the mondeo.
The 508 seems great, but personally I'd hold off until the plug-in hybrid version drops in the UK.
