As a vegan seamstress, I am really enjoying creating projects out of Kraft-Tex. I threw the whole roll of black and stone in the washing machine in hot water and then dryer, and it looks supple and sews like a dream. Others suggest boiling smaller pieces. There's a great Kraft-Tex group on FB, too. I sewed with a sharp Microtex needle to limit perforations. Great product. Thanks for the video!
+headovmetal we really appreciated your comment. Thank you for watching this tutorial! Also, thanks for the great info you gave us! We'll have to give it a try!
+headovmetal I like the idea of a Microtex needle, I've been using a heavy weight needle because of the thick layers but it does leave a large hole. I'll try your suggestion next.
Try soaking the Kraftex in your leftover coffee and grounds. Follow the same procedure of soak and massage. The coffee stains it and gives it a patina. Plus, it smells like coffee too. Herbal teas, like hibiscus, give it a pink/fuschia tint and smells herbal.
Dude! You're awesome!👍🏻 I found this video while searching for Kraft Tex project ideas, and I became an instant fan and new subbie. You are a born teacher. 🍎📚 Thank you for sharing your skills on RUclips. Sewing doesn't have to be intimidating and scary. Now I just need to dust off my sewing machine and get reacquainted with it. 🙄😉
I want to try the KraftTex stuff. Looks interesting. Love the coffee cup! And I like the old fashioned heater electric immersion heater. I used to be more of a coffee snob, but I find that a cup of Tasters Choice actually is a nice, familiar experience now. Thank you for the inspiration! Good idea.
This is so cool. I've made them for my friends in Ireland and Austrlaia, so nice for traveling to and from the states. thank you so much. Love your ideas and step by step instructions. Hugs.
Although I am not a coffee/tea drinker this was great. You gave me an idea for my large travel project bag. I'm going to try this for a travel sewing caddy which attaches to the outside of my large project tote bag with button/hair ties, and to secure to outside of ptoject bags In the end, I am trying to make a large tote bag, to carry projects, I also, want a sewing travel kit on the outside (like a fold out/down) pocket.
My favorite! Thanks for sharing awesome ways to use this fabric! I just encountered this product at a recent Quilt Guild meeting! Now I have super cool ways to use for some supper cool guys!! Thanks Rob!
Lightly rub a brown ink pad over it after you have crushed it up. Then when that is dry, massage in a mix of glycerin and water and let it dry. It will look just like leather!
I hadn't heard of Kraft-Tex before. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I might try using this concept to make a tool roll for some motorcycle tools to have on the road. You know...just in case. ;)
By any chance do you know how to make a spine for a journal with Kraft tex. I want to put signatures on a spine . I watched videos which only confused…me… I do junk journaling and I use mostly cereal box’s for a cover and some times chipboards…. Hope I haven’t confused you as to what I’m asking…. Thank you
As with many other's comments I haven't heard of a French Press Mug. I Want..let me rephrase this I NEED one! Is there a specific one that you can suggest or maybe just tell me what type you have? And how about your wrap around with Man Sewing on it, I'd be proud to carry it around! I think many others would be happy to have your wrap around to go with their French Press Mug. Please share what information you can on this subject. Thanks in advance from us all and keep up with the awesome tutorials!
+Jeri Niksich Okay here's the low down. I've tried many different mugs, and the best ever is called Hector Press by Liquid Solutions, I just checked online and they are currently sold out! The second best I have used is from Wyndham House, it is a much cheaper version, but works. Here is what to look for: - Double wall, stainless steel lined. this also allow for the cup heater. - 20 Oz or better - the grounds stay in the cup and consume good drinkable coffee space, so a 20 oz yields about 16 oz of coffee. Good screen on press, do not want the grounds to get past the press. I have spent as much as $35 per mug and as little as $15 - you get what you pay for. Avoid the mug with the narrow base for your car cup holder, they become top heavy and can spill all over your quilts. www.gopowergear.com/products/wyndham-house-21oz-stainless-steel-lined-double-wall-travel-french-press-coffee-tea-mug-wall-travel-mug?gclid=CjwKEAiAp_WyBRD37bGB_ZO9qAYSJAA72Ikg7PxtXHGvmJeYWwFd3U54fsfeHM_h67KiHjYfJWKWaxoC-Xvw_wcB Cup Heater - Are all about the same, make sure you are set up for 110V if in USA www.midlandhardware.com/726214.html?gclid=CjwKEAiAp_WyBRD37bGB_ZO9qAYSJAA72Ikg-ayNfFRFM81i_0yhCQxOGQWNzVfIkSQ25qog2dtxthoCN2jw_wcB#.Vl3A4nvGOiw
Amazon has them. Search for "immersion heater"...most of them are in the $10 to $12 range, although they do have a few pricier versions. I didn't read the descriptions to see what makes them worthy of that higher price tag. LOL
It so refreshing to see a man sewing, years ago boys were taught sewing at home by their moms. I am teaching my grandson he loves it
its sad that there was any stigma towards it in the first place, even if you dont make, everyone needs to repair things.

That sounds like a fun project, Jack! Let me know how it turns out!
I'm so glad you used the rotary cutter to make a fold. I was so scared you would use the H-word to make the crease! LOL
+Kristi Carr Haha I try to avoid that word!
Brilliant ideas thank you Rob

Free motion stitch designs would be cool with darker thread🙂

a french press mug?? How did I not know these existed :)
+songbird857 it'll change your life forever!
Seems like Kraft-tex could be used to make a lined sunglasses case, too. Kraft-tex exterior, linen interior. Snap closure?
Hi Rob :) How would this Kraft-tex handle being embroidered ? would handle the stitch-out ect

I think a cool look would be to wad up in a ball like newspaper… The large outside piece
What brand is the plastic container you've used in the coffee kit? You called it Tupperware, but I don't find it in their catalog.
+Anew Watcher sorry about that! It's Sistema brand, purchased in a 3 pack at an Ace Brand Hardwear
This a great tutorial.
